They even asked the sous chef to make sure the presentation was excellent; he didn't disappoint. Their menu changes seasonally. I ordered the following: 1. Coke ($). 2. Tempura Shrimp ($27). 3. Crispy Duck Leg Confit & Breast ($46). 4. Saskatoon Berry Cheesecake ($14). The Tempura Shrimp were tiger shrimp and were so plump, each about 1 inch diameter at the widest end! They were de-shelled and tempura battered. There were orange slices (orange), avocado slices (green), and chili slices (red), making the dish colourful. The Crispy Duck came with a leg and sliced breast portions. Accompanying them were tamarillo, sunchoke puree, bordelaise, dried kale chips, berry gastrique, and chopped candied pecans. All the ingredients worked well together, with mixtures of savoury and sweet tastes. The Cheesecake was amazing. The cheesecake itself was an upside-down half sphere. It was soft; I prefer that over the typical firm cake. There were miniature dried berries on top, along with a ruby chocolate sauce, and a sliced of dried red beet. Surrounding it was a soft marshmallow meringue which was lightly torched. The colour theme was red and white with a touch of dark blue. Daimon, the sous chef, plated everything expertly for me. There is plenty of indoor seating, of which one side has a view of the lake. There is lively music playing in the background. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms. There is free street parking on weekends on a street running north of the restaurant. There is also a paid parking lot next to the restaurant. I opened the heavy wooden doors and entered the restaurant. I was immediately surprised by the warm and welcoming interior. A roaring fire, casual lighting, deep rich colours. It was a world away from the ugly plaza outside. I investigated the menu while waiting for my order and noticed some dishes with an Eastern European flare Chevape - Pork and Veal minced meat sausages Razniche - Pork Shish-Kebob Gurman Pljeskavica - Pork, Veal and minced meat stuffed with bacon and cheese. The pizza and wings were fantastic, well above average. They even offered free unlimited toppings! Who does that!? The next time I was in Hamilton we returned to Pizzeria Gurman to try some of their other dishes. It's run by a lovely Serbian family who take real pride in their heritage and the local community. They have great daily specials. Recently on offer was a perfectly marinated and grilled striploin steak with potatoes and salad $18. I personally enjoyed the pan seared sea bass with risotto $18 and to be honest I haven't been able to stop thinking about it! I wish it was a regular menu item. The service is excellent but do allow yourself some time when you go. The vibe here is about spending quality time with family and friends. Sometimes the food will take awhile to arrive but I promise you it's worth the wait. Pizzeria Gurman has become a favourite of mine whenever I find myself in Hamilton, which is more often than I'd like it to be (I was born and raised there so I'm allowed to say that).

Based on the phone calls, it sounded like the place was booked full out that evening. We had (table of four): - Mixed Grill Platter (for two): it fed more like 3 - 4 people, lots of variety to pick at; Sausage (pork), Chevaps (pork and beef sausages), Raznjici (pork), Chicken Schnitzel and Karadjordjeva Schnitzel (Pork rolled & stuffed with prosciutto and cottage cheese) - Vienna Schnitzel (pork) - all the dishes comes with (potatoes OR rice) AND vegetables (buttered carrots, beans, broccoli, cauliflower); various potato sides (like crispy fries) as available and rice (like tomato gypsy based) There was enough food for four people plus leftovers as a side for dinner.
