    Best Caesar salad!
    Becca C.

I can't say enough about how much I love the food at J&B Family Restaurant. It's easy to miss if you don't know to look for it, but it's the definition of a hidden gem. They had a sign out advertising BOGO 50% off schnitzel meals for I think Monday - Thursday. I dined in on a Saturday, so we couldn't take advantage of the deal. The restaurant has taken several precautions to stay safe with Covid and I was happy they were able to accommodate our party of 2. They had many reservations and people coming in for takeout throughout our meal. It made me very happy to see that they were staying busy even with restrictions in place! We can Caesar salads, the fried mushrooms, and gypsy schnitzel. Absolutely everything was perfect. The homemade bread is soft, fluffy, and slightly sweet. Their Caesar salad is probably the best I've ever had. Something about it is so delicious and unique. The fried mushrooms come with a very nice dipping sauce and were yummy. They have a very thin layer crunchy breading on them. Be careful because they come out very hot and can be very juicy! They gypsy schnitzel was amazing and I opted to have it unbreaded. You don't miss the breading with all of the sauce on top. The home fries were also very tasty! I don't like dill very much, so I didn't enjoy my veggies. That is entirely a personal preference, and next time I will order them without dill. The staff is very kind and welcoming. We learned a lot about the restaurant, the best dishes to order, and much more. It was a wonderful dining experience.

Amazing!! This cozy little family run restaurant is tucked away in KW, but I highly recommend you check if you want try some authentic Serbian cooking. Being of Serbian heritage myself, I can definitely say that this place feels a piece of home. I came from out of town with my family and we were were eager to get some traditional comfort food so we stopped by this place. The server was super cute and polite and even tried to speak a little Serbian with my family and I. Despite being the only server in the entire restaurant on a decently busy weekday night, she remained quick and efficient and checked up on us frequently. We ordered the lepinja sa kajmakom which is essentially a type of Serbian flatbread with a cream cheese type of spread. The lepinja came come super fresh, warm and soft and was sandwiched with the kajmak mixture. Super tasty, I wanted to get more but I had to hold off on filling up on bread. For mains, my brother and I shared the mixed grill platter, which I thought was perfect because it had a little bit of everything. If there is one thing us Serbians will never do is that we will never let someone go hungry, because the portion sizes are HUGE. I underestimated the platter because it can easily feed 3-4 people despite the menu saying 2. All the different types of meat had their own unique flavour and potatoes were perfectly seasoned and soaked up all the juices from the meat sitting on top. I would have to say that the cevape and the pljeskavica were my favourite, but everything else was truly delicious. Highly recommend getting the platter if you want to sample a little bit of everything, you'll have leftovers for sure! For dessert, I got the crepes which they add Eurocrem (super popular hazelnut/vanilla spread in Serbia) and nuts! My parents were supper happy with the place to, which is also saying something! Overall, the one thing I'm sad about is that I can't come to gem more often. Definitely give it a try, amazing quality for a really great price.

Full meat platter, 41$ can feed 2-3 people. But tasty enough for only 1 person!

I was introduced to this place by my Serbian friends one day after work. And i was very IMPRESSED. The location is tucked away in a small plaza on victoria road but don't let that fool you, the food here is really good! Atmosphere: The decor is cozy, with sort of a vibe you get when visiting a grandmother's home. the walls are paved with what i assume is European art, and is very pleasing to look at. Menu: The menu at j&b features a mixture of serbian and american cuisine (to please the"other customers") Their serbian dishes are well distinguishable and the design is simple. Service: With the two times i been there i have been served by two different serbian waitresses, both were an Absolute Pleasure as they were very nice, catering, and even playful when we order the moonshine. food is served on time and hot! which is fantastic!. Food: The food is FANTASTIC! Our Mezze platter had a wide variety of smoky savory serbian charcuterie meats, cheeses, and breads. My Goulash was hearty and had large pieces of beef that has been slow cooking in an smoky tomato broth. The Mix grilled platter was an mountain of meat featuring common favourite serbian meat treat like the seasoned chevap sausages, cheese and ham stuffed Karadjordjeva Schnitzel, serbian pork kebabs, pork chops, Pljeskavica, and fried potatoes. The items featured were astoundingly delicious and I highly recommend any meat lovers to come give it a try. Price: The total price for my meal including all of the above items came to a measly $40 with alcohol. however most dishes on the menu is around 4$-15$ which are extremely affordable. Verdict: If you are a local or even someone who simply wants a delicious meal, good service, and a relaxing atmosphere I highly recommend this place! I will be returning soon for more in the future!

Meat platter for two (or more lol). Great to try a bit of everything if you're here the first time. The tartar sauce is made in house too!

This is one of the BEST restaurants in KW. If you live in KW or are visiting, you must try this place. Very underrated, the food is amazing and fresh! This place serves Eastern European cuisine and they are proud of what they do...they make everything in house fresh including the bread! When I asked the lady about some food on the menu, she was very nice and explained them well. My partner and I ordered the lepinja bread appetizer and it was the fluffiest bread we have ever had. The meat platter is very smoky and everything tasted awesome, including the potato! Everything is well seasoned and you can taste the freshness of the ingredients. My favorite is the rolled up schnitzel, the skewer meat, and the sausage without the wrapping (forgot the exact name). We will definitely come back to this great place.

We had the hearty meat platter for 2, but the food is definitely enough for 3 and 4 people. For the tastes of the dish itself, the potatoes were amazing from all the BBQ juices, but I did find the pork to be a little dry, and the sauce they give you with the platter was a bit on the skimpy side. Definitely an amazing restaurant for meat lovers overall!

I came across this small restaurant and decided to give it a try. What a great decision. The service was excellent and the food was as well. It is always a pleasure to eat at a place like this when traveling. Thank you for the great meal.

zoom in on the meat... the best is they place fried sliced potatoes under all the meat, so the juices ... get absorbed !!!!

I really love Serbian food (its not for vegetarians). The location has an authentic Eastern European feel (they speak Serbian). Lots of delicious grilled meats (cevap, sausages, schnitzel), kajmac (rich cream), a little salad without lettuce, and of course some beer. The best is they place fried sliced potatoes under all the meat, so the juices ... get absorbed !!!! You know the feeling when you're hungover and need some real food to get you going.... this is the real food it to the power of 10 !!!!

Delicious plate of meat and wine to share :)

Overall: You MUST go and try this restaurant. The first time I saw the look of love in my fiancés eyes was when she told me she loved me and the second was when I saw her eat the first bite of the meat platter. If that's all that matters to you, then eat here and don't bother reading on. First impressions: to be honest, the word that was going through my head repeatedly was "RUN!" It felt sketchy at first and I wondered whether our "kind" (very uncultured Canadian) was welcome. Moment of change: When we were served hot, freshly baked, warm bread by our delightful server, Kat; it was so delicious and comforting just like the kind your mom made when you were young It was at this point when I learned that the "weird" looks we were given when entering was because they have a very strong repeat customer base and we're trying to figure out if this was the first time we were there. When we ordered dinner and tried it for the first time, I looked at my fiancé to see the same look as when she first told me she loved me. We will definitely return!!

This place is a must try! I have been coming here for years and have always brought friends who instantly fall in love. My go to dishes are the sopska salada to start and the punjena pjeskavica as a main.

The location was newly renovated- it's either you love it or hate it. They seem to have table…read morecloth but they lost the old wealth casual setting to some princess version of table cloth and soft chairs - where you can see the prior patrons hair(maybe get a fabric roller guys). The menu is as usual on the high end, the specials are available they have a $55 prime rib the fish option available. I guess it's a special in this economy, but I do miss the $38 Sunday prime rib special. So this location was a former gem now it's just on the high end- service is slow too. I may revisit with clients but it's not a place I want to visit with family- it's just a bit high end slow service. We were celebrating two bdays, they didn't have the cheesecake anymore it's one of those from frozen lava cake with ice cream, whip cream and a sparkler- but thanks guys. There seems to be some lunch deals with taco to attract the lunch walk ins- but that's also a low traffic time. I guess they're trying to be creative with their marketing.

GREAT atmosphere, AWESOME wine selection, and the food was just OK…read more The complimentary House bread was disappointingly basic in texture and flavour. For appetizers, the Baked Pecan Crusted Brie was also lacking, it sounded nice on the menu but came out very plain and was only a few tiny pieces of Brie (I thought it was come out as a small wheel). For the main, the Duck breast was not bad, tougher meat, medium rare, nice char, plentiful and beet sauce added a nice sweetness.

It was our first time at the Golden Pheasant and have to say that we were impressed with the food…read more But what's more impressive, was the huge portion of their plates. The schnitzel that I ordered (Wiener Schnitzel) was enough to feed 3 people. Mine was with the potato salad that you pay an extra $2 (worth it in my opinion) or you could get it with rice and fries. It also comes with a salad. We also ordered the Potato Dumplings (Halusky) which brought memories of my trip to Slovakia a while ago. We also ordered some Pillsners Urkell to wash down our food. The schnitzel is a bit on the salty side so the Halusky, potato salad and salad provides a nice balance. The food took a very long time to arrive so that's something to be aware of. I'm not sure if it was a one off or if it's a regular occurrence. The food was worth the wait though. My advice will be to come as soon as they are open. The decor needs improvement but you are not coming here for the ambience. The food prices might seems expensive but when you compare it with the amount of food that you get, it's really not. There's parking at the back and the restaurant it's a bit lax about their opening time which is 5pm. We arrived at 5pm but needed to knock so they could open for us. It's in the same block as Dairy Cream so it was convenient for us. We did not finish our food as we were saving room for the ice cream. It's worth a visit if you are fan of schnitzels!
