My first experience was a catering order for a large group at a Christmas party, and everyone couldn't stop raving about the flavor and quality of the food. Everything was cooked to perfection. The salad, potatoes, chicken, gyro, and rice were all outstanding. When I went in to pick up the order, I immediately noticed how clean and well-kept the restaurant was. It's clear the owners take great pride in their place. The two guys working the front (probably the owners) were extremely polite and a pleasure to deal with. A couple of weeks later, I brought my family in for lunch, and once again, the experience was excellent. They treated us like family. I honestly wish I lived closer because I'd be ordering from here at least once a week. I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in the area. There's also plenty of parking right in front, which is a nice bonus. Highly recommend eating here !

The rice, potatoes, and salad were all fresh and flavourful, and the tzatziki was creamy with just the right amount of garlic. This place instantly became my new favourite Greek spot in the city. Totally worth the 10km drive across town--I'll be making that trip regularly from now on. Highly recommend!

Also anyone pulling into the parking lot is sure to blind you with their headlights so maybe best to pick a seat away from the windows. We ordered the Adonis entrée, the Chicken Shawarma entrée, Lamb Souvlaki entrée, a Shish Kafta entrée and a few Lentil soups. All of the entrees came with the same Rice, Potatoes and Greek Salad. The Lamb was cooked well, and for $30+ it better be. Chicken Souvlaki was drenched in sauce so of course it tasted good. The Kafta was AWFUL. So dry and bland. Every bite was making my mouth dry. What a bummer. The Lentil soup was ok but I feel like it didn't taste as authentic as other places I have been. It could have used more spices. The potatoes that came with the meals were just ok. They didn't taste good or bad. However the rice that came with the meals was bland and tasteless. No saffron or anything. Literally around the corner from this place is a restaurant called Sidra and it serves waaaaaaay better Shawarma, Lentil Soup, Kafta (tikka), and their meals come with amazingly flavorful rice and garlic potatoes. With such a better place nearby I don't know why you would come here instead.

Adonis is by far my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in town; much better than Monfort and Agabi in my opinion. Usually I come here for one thing, and one thing only; the Adonis Schwarma on a pita. It is quite similar to the Monfort Chicken on a Pita served at Monfort, but with one brilliant addition - BACON. You get seasoned chicken breast, pineapple, garlic sauce, your choice of a wholewheat or white pita, and the option to have it prepared spicy, plus BACON. Delicious! Additionally, the portion size is larger than at Monfort's, and I prefer the taste of the garlic sauce at Adonis. The service at Adonis is super friendly. You can tell that it is family owned and operated as it is the same staff working whenever I visit. You also know it is good service if every time you leave walking away thinking that the waitress is flirting with you. Me and my friends all feel this way, which is a good way to leave a restaurant. If anything, it does take a while to prepare your order, so I usually call ahead and take it to go. Overall, I highly recommend Adonis. It loses one star for the wait times, but it is certainly one of Oakville's best hidden jewels!

The waterfront setting is beautiful and creates the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing meal. The drinks were also really good. Great food, stunning views, and excellent drinks. I was told they do not take reservations, but that the doors would open at 11:30 a.m. and seating would be available on a first-come, first-served basis. True to their word, the doors opened exactly at 11:30. Unfortunately, that is where our experience began to deteriorate. Upon entering, we were asked how many people were in our group. When I replied that there were 19 of us, staff immediately began setting up tables outside along the side of the building. I explained that our group did not want to be seated there, as it was away from the direct waterfront view and the main dining area. Despite clearly expressing our preference, no one seemed willing to listen, and the setup continued. We then walked into the dining area where we hoped to sit, only to be confronted by three male servers who told us we could not remain there and would have to go back outside and rejoin the line to be seated. It is worth noting that our group consisted primarily of seniors, some of whom had mobility challenges. Being repeatedly redirected and made to stand and wait was both frustrating and unnecessary. I asked to speak with the owner, whom I had seen outside earlier. Instead, a young woman who identified herself as a manager was sent over. Unfortunately, she was given little opportunity to address our concerns, as the servers continued to insist that we return to the line and follow their instructions. The food itself was very good, but customer service is about more than what is on the plate. I have rarely encountered such a lack of communication, flexibility, and consideration. When a large group arrives ready to support a business, one would hope some effort would be made to accommodate reasonable requests. In the end, most of our group returned to the line and waited to be seated, despite having arrived before many of the other customers. The entire experience left us feeling unwelcome and unappreciated. As a result, I will not be returning, and I suspect many others in our group feel the same way. I expect some of them will share their own experiences in separate reviews.

Nestled along the shores of Lake Ontario in Vineland, this storied establishment, housed in a structure dating to 1867, has become one of those places that quietly lodges itself in the memory and refuses to leave. We made the drive -- well over an hour -- for a Sunday brunch, and not for the first time. It is the kind of restaurant one finds oneself recommending without hesitation, not as a curiosity or a seasonal indulgence, but as a benchmark. The setting alone would justify the journey: a sweeping, unobstructed view of the lake from the sunroom and patio that shifts in character with the light, the season, and the mood of the sky above. On a clear day, the Toronto skyline is visible on the horizon -- an almost implausible grace note. But Lake House does not rest on its scenery. The kitchen demonstrates genuine culinary ambition with a menu that draws from Mediterranean traditions while remaining grounded in local and seasonal sensibility. The salmon crab cakes -- a pairing that sounds indulgent and delivers accordingly -- arrive with a pineapple and mango chutney and sriracha aioli that balance richness with levity. The Great Canadian Burger is a study in considered indulgence: brioche, peameal bacon, sweet bacon jam, and spiced maple aioli achieving a harmony of sweetness, heat, and savoriness that lingers well past the last bite. The service matched the occasion throughout. From the welcome at the door to our server Rhonda -- attentive, warm, and precisely calibrated in her pacing -- to the supervisor who moved quietly through the room ensuring that every table was well attended, the floor operates with the kind of seamless, unhurried care that is too often mistaken for effortlessness. It is not effortless. It is practiced and deliberate, and all the more impressive for it. Lake House Restaurant is a destination that justifies the drive, rewards the return, and -- in a dining landscape where so few establishments manage all three -- that is no small thing.

If you enjoy condiments the semolina crusted calamari ($26) comes with four dipping sauces:…read moresweet-curried aioli, sweet chili, basil pesto aioli, and sriracha aioli. It would've been nice if at least one packed a bit of heat, but they're all tame, adding flavour without overpowering the squid. Thankfully, the semolina crust was excellent - crunchy, light, and not oily at all. The portion is generous and easily shareable between two or three people. A newer addition to the menu is the short rib sandwich ($34), and it's a good one. Large chunks of tender, flavourful beef are topped with sautéed mushrooms, crispy onions, arugula, and brie. The cheese adds a creamy richness that makes the sandwich stand out. The menu notes a horseradish aioli, but any zing from it gets buried under the slightly sweet braising sauce, which was too sugary for my taste. I would've preferred it kept more savoury. The sandwich is already quite saucy, and yet more sauce arrives on the side. Good for fries if you choose to switch the salad to spuds. After hearing plenty about the Great Canadian Burger ($29), I couldn't resist splitting one, though I ultimately wish I hadn't. The short rib sandwich is better. The burger is hefty, with a thick beef patty that's overly dense and heavily mixed, giving it more of a frozen-patty texture than the crumbly tenderness of a good homemade one. The potato bun also struggled to hold up against the avalanche of toppings: grilled peameal bacon, cheddar, onion, tomato, arugula, pickle, and two sauces. I'm not sure why the kitchen insists on sweetening everything - the burger comes with caramelized onion bacon jam and a maple chipotle aioli, both quite sugary. If you enjoy sweeter savoury dishes, you'll probably like it. Otherwise, I'd skip the handhelds. On our weekday lunch visit, the restaurant was well staffed and attentive. Even though we never felt rushed, we were in and out within about an hour. If anything, the service bordered on overly attentive... during that hour we were interrupted six times by four different people checking if everything was okay. My suggestion: let the primary server handle most of the check-ins, and only have others step in if things get busy.
