I like the coffee and pastries at Euphorium, although I've normally been to the one further down the road. Today, since I was headed to Waterstones for an author event, I just needed a quick pick me up. The staff was polite and quick, but this outlet does not have the charm that their other one in Islington does. I think that their lovely glass ceiling really does the trick there. I picked up a takeaway, sipped on it in the Islington green park while catching some sun and reading a book. What a lovely hour. Glad I spent it in the park rather than the coffee shop especially given today's lovely weather. read more

I love that this bakery is more than okay with two dozen gays just taking over most of the place to yammer in bad French. One bread-slinging lady even joins in every once in a while. Usual selection of bakery goods, and the apple tart isn't too shabby. There's a cozier downstairs area if you're looking for more privacy. read more

Thank yoooou euphorium bakery! My friend and I went out for drinks on Monday evening...and for some reason I was extra-lightweight! I managed to be quite tipsy after just two drinks (even though I had eaten loooads for dinner) So...my friend, noticing my less-than-sober state, suggested we should go for cake, rather than another drink. We wandered down the road to the lovely Euphorium bakery and chose a couple of delicious deserts. My tipsy-ness may have contributed to the complete-joy that is their strawberry tart... but who cares!? It was really delicious and apparently my strawberry-munching smile was comparable to the Cheshire cat. - I may have fallen down the steps on the way out *slightly embarrassing* - I may have also left my shopping (a huge spice rack) at the front of the shop *even more embarrassing* BUT the staff saved it for me, so I could collect it the following day, still slightly embarrassed, but happy not to lose my spice rack. I was staying at a friend's in Islington overnight ten days or so ago. After arriving and saying hello and having a quick bite to eat in the early afternoon, I took myself off for a stroll around Angel whilst my friend got on with work. I was in the mood for tea and cake (well, aren't I always?!) and this was the first place I came across that would satisfy that need. It's quite a small place and as there was only one person serving, there were not many clean tables. I did manage to find one at the back down the steps. I found a nice comfy armchair, and then when the business men vacated the comfy sofas, decided to relocate. I went for a fruit cheesecake and matcha green tea. The cheesecake was a good size and I felt healthy drinking matcha, since I'd been reading about it's health benefits on the train down. The reason I've marked as a 3* and not 4* is because it took a while for another staff member to come on shift to clean the tables. I noticed quite a few flies around - a good job I scoffed my cake quickly really - which I can only assume is down to the slow clearing of tables. It's a shame really as it really is a nice little bakery and maybe I just caught them on a bad day, but I don't feel I can mark higher. read more

Euphorium Bakery is a cute, little bakery located at the bottom of Upper Street close to Angel Station serving an array of delicious 'looking' cakes. First things first about this particular bakery is the popularity of it. Who would have thought that such a bakery would be so busy on a cold and rainy Sunday afternoon to the point of having to snatch 2 empty seats quickly due to the fear of not being able to sit down and having to choose another spot to enjoy a coffee and a cake. With the quantity of customers and the length of time people were residing inside (whether due to rain or pure enjoyment) surely does say something about the bakery as a whole, but that being said, our choice of seats were too close to our neighbours as all other tables and chairs were, which didn't make it uncomfortable but a little unpleasant. Coffee & Cake Time: I was merely disappointed for 2 reasons. First reason being the quality of the coffee as it was in my opinion a standard cappucino that lacked the real coffee bean roasting in pure coffee harmony taste, which was a shame and the second reason for disappointment being the choices (or lack of) delicious 'looking' cakes on offer. In regards to the cakes, I must be honest and say that there was a decent selection to choose from but I've seen a larger selection at many other places. I opted for the banana cake for myself which had a nice texture, portion size was great but lacked ooomph (wouldn't recommend) and I also purchased the Victoria cake which was well designed, well texturised and very tasty for my partner in which I was envious of his choice afterwards. **Quality looking bakery in a quality area. No wifi provided by the bakery itself, but there are plenty of hotspots (The Cloud) to connect with. I would come back to Euphorium but not before trying out other bakeries in Islington. Apart from the banana cake, the average tasting cappucino and busy and lack of space, I can give a thumbs up because the staff were nice. and friendly and you also get a deal (coffee and cake for £4.20) so you're not breaking the bank and I'm sure there are a lovely bunch of other cakes besides the banana cake** read more

I was strolling in Islington and needed a coffee break. I don't like big chains, they don't have style. I saw the Euphorium Bakery, it looked so good from outside, no doubt that's the place I was looking for. Love the furniture, the atmosphere, the sitting. Fantastic for a quick bite or a break. Had a huge pain au raisin and a cappuccino. The pastry was very good, and actually I wanted to try everything was on show, but I'll go back with some friends to taste some more of them! The cappuccino was a bit watery, but it's easy to forgive it because all the rest is simply lovely! I'm courious to try the bread as well. Maybe next time I'll pop in.... read more

I don't cook. Or bake. So when asked to bring some puddings to a BBQ -- I immediately started to figure out what bakery I'd be hitting up. I mean really, it's going to be 10x better (maybe more) than anything I could make. And yes, this was the case as I strolled up to Euphorium Bakery on a sunny Saturday morning. The tarts were perfect: 1 lemon, 2 banana, 2 tropical fruit and 1 strawberry. Deliciously piled with ooey gooey toppings, nice crust and filling. They were packaged a bit haphazardly (I only traveled a few streets with them and they got a bit smushed) -- but they still tasted lovely. However part of the tart appeal is its beauty! I'd surely stop again, my iced Americano hit the spot, the gal was friendly and for 20 quid I looked like I knew how to pick out a good bakery and save myself a few hours of sanity in the kitchen. *Lovely bakery café on Upper Street! *Plenty of seating on 2 levels. *Very near Angel tube. read more

I sank my teeth into a delicious Belgian brownie here. It tasted like home. And I'm not even from Belgium. Euphorium has great baked goods and I felt like I had an abundance of options before I landed on Belgian's pride. The prices aren't the worst I've seen, but overall the place could have done with a little more organization and space. The entire cafe was full, so we had to sit outside. A bit brisk for that sort of thing. Luckily for Euphorium, a neighboring bar's cloud wifi service reaches here. If not for that, I'd be slapping Euphorium in the face for being a cafe without wifi. That's a disgrace. The coffee ain't blowing anyone's mind anytime soon and that's a damn shame. Not much more to say about this place. You're not getting spectacular prices or coffee, so this doesn't seem like the joint you'd want to frequent. If you're into coffee in general and don't care about cost, a Starbucks is a minute down the block (isn't it always). read more

This review is based solely on the quality of bread we purchased here regularly. Having a German husband who loves a hard dark bread, its been an challenge finding a good bakery to satistfy his taste in especially in our area. Luckily, we happen to run into this cafe/bakery. The picky husband inspected the dark rye bread with sunflower seeds as it looks good for his taste. He also evaluated the muesli bread loaf and few rolls to try at home. I on the other hand hope that it will be good enough for his taste. Subsequently, we placed our order with the friendly staff in the counter who also answered some specific queries the husband had. As fior this place, it looks nice and clean. Its a great place to have coffee with friends and people watch at the same time. The location is lovely as it sits centrally in the buzzling street of Angel. It also appears to have good selection of delectable cakes and pastries to drool for. I have not really tried them. It was a crazy cold day - seriously, where has all this wind come from?!, and we needed a place to have a sit-in to get warm and caffeine up. When we popped in, it was packed... but we got lucky and a table for four freed up - hurray! We each got a coffee (a latte, mocha and a flat white, if you're interested), and they were all great. I've been going to Euphorium Bakery for many years This time I got the Roast Chicken Salad. A very generous serving of massive chicken pieces and avocado. Usually I end up here with really good friends for a lazy afternoon of coffee and cake. I would suggest Euphorium Bakery for friends catch-ups, but not for large groups or birthday parties. This bakery coffee place started off well, looks funky, cakes look appetising, many people but then it started going down the hill: Strike 1: when taking my order they were closer to annoyed then feeling me welcomed, but that's understandable they were busy. Strike 2: they did manage to forget about my order, I waited 10-15 min and then had to remind them. Strike 3: they apologies for the delay but in the end I can see they rushed my flat white, it was too hot and bitter which indicates not good pressure and heat used when making it. The first two point happen and understandable, but I can not forgive point 3. Being delayed shouldn't print you to provide a sub par product. This is my first review of this place, I will return to see if it was just a one off. read more

Bought a bunch of breakfast pastries from them. They were all delicious. The almond croissant was my favorite, but the cinnamon bun was also good. Plain croissant was also freshly baked. Can't really go wrong with any of their items! Their boxes are also adorable. read more

I came here on Sunday with my boyfriend as the que for the breakfast club was ridiculous. As a bakery I thought the sandwiches and lunch would be more fresh. I had the chicken ciabatta with avocado and pesto. It was full of mayonnaise, I literally had to scrape it off the bread as I could taste nothing but mayonnaise and it made me feel sick. A staff member walked passed and saw me doing this then just looked away, clearly knowing it looked absolutely awful and probably wouldn't eat it herself! The bread was rock hard, I thought I was going to chip a tooth! My boyfriend has the ham and mustard baguette, again his bread was rock hard and when we opened to see the filling it really didn't look appetising. The coffee was awful! I usually only have 1 sugar but I put two in to make the taste a little bare able....did not work! I didn't try the cakes so can't judge but for somewhere that sells fresh bread and is supposed to be the fresh bakery, the location and the busy clientele I thought my experience would be worth it...it wasn't. Our lunch really wasn't fresh and they need to sort out the generosity of mayonnaise in everything! read more

I've been in here a couple times now -- once for a pastry-type thing and this morning for an Americano. The staff is lovely and the atmosphere is cozy and busy, but not overly packed, which was nice for that time of the morning. I personally found their coffee to be a bit on the bitter side for me with an aftertaste that just wasn't my jam, but that might just be a personal preference. I also found the pastry (an almond croissant) to be a bit on the dry side, even though it was still early in the day -- but again, maybe that's just how it is and I'm the ugly American with persnickety tastes. You ever go into a bakery that feels more like it is someone's house? That's this place. It's quaint and sweet, but the service is what sells it for me - people treat you like you're home. I've come here many many times, but most recently I was fighting jetlag, with smeared makeup and no sleep and the woman who brought me some porridge deserves to be sainted. Last night the Euphorium Bakery provided nibbles at the Qype 2nd Birthday party at Lucky Voice and boy, was there a fight for the food! Delicious! They handed round mini-quiches and other pastry based goodies in baskets, which nearly resulted in fisty-cuffs when the last few items were left! Then at the end we were all presented with uh-ma-zing birthday cakes!! Words do not describe the euphoria of the cream layered cake with humongous, ripe strawberries thrown into the mix (although those words come quite close). As well as the food being delicious, the staff were really friendly and this has encouraged me to go and visit the shop! read more

I had a ridiculously large appetite on Sunday at approximately 5.45pm for reasons I won't go into (clue: not preggers), thus had an insurmountable desire to eat cake! Let's face it, what Brit doesn't love a bit of cake? I do. So off I trundled with my buddies to pick up an order, my friend specifically requesting a cake WITH cream, chocolate or something tasty. So, what did we get her? Something WITHOUT cream, chocolate and instead opted for the 'moist' (not really moist) carrot cake. She scoffed it down unsatisfied, however I had no such complaints as my tongue slipped into an oral state of euphoria with a moist, rich slice of tiramisu. Last week, I broke the golden rule: If there's cake, always order cake. But I didn't. Instead I ordered a sandwich. A very nice beef and rocket sandwich (with crusty bread that wasn't the easiest to eat). But it wasn't cake. Still a much better lunch for me than all the tasty looking treats lining the counter. Latte was nothing to shout about. Milky, not particularly strong. But I like coffee like that, anything stronger and I'll spend the rest of the day bouncing about the place and not getting anything done at all. So I'm actually giving the thumbs up to not great coffee. Strange. I really want to like it here, but I'm left wondering if there are better places in Angel to come for coffee and lunch. I loved the cakes there especially banana tart! I think it is the best of all! I did not like Swiss roll that much as it was a bit too sweet for me. Many cakes in Uk are too sugary or use too cheap ingredients but Euphorium Bakery is using proper ingredients which costs more. I know it is fairly expensive but you can eat what you pay for . But I asked the take away the cake but the shop assistant only gave me a very thin plastic bag which is impossible to carry with 4 piece of cakes. I ended up buying a thick plastic bag from M&S. And my cakes were mess when I came home. They need a proper cake bag as we pay lots for the yummy lovely cake. read more

Euphorium Bakery came along and provided some amazingly delicious treats for us partygoers. There were pastries stuffed beyond capacity with feta and spinach. I didn't try any of the mini-quiches but they looked nice. I did have massive slabs of the birthday cakes they made, though. Those were decadently rich, thick gateaux. They were really a bit over-the-top luxurious: just want you want in a party cake you're sharing with 150 other people. I haven't been in their shop but I can definitely recommend the quality of their baked goods, even when made in large group batches. Tasty. read more

I love Euphorium (both branches), which has consistently good sandwiches and cakes. I look forward to working my way through the whole menu! The service is smiley and cheerful, too. I do have one small complaint about this branch however: the loo is usually pretty horrible. Almost enough to make you want to hold on until your next coffee stop. read more

This place is supercute. I was drenched in the standard British-summertime rain after an interview and wanted to kill some time in Waterstones nearby - BUT my tummy was rumbling and I needed the loo. Quick Yelp search pulled up this place which managed to look warm, light and airy despite the dismal London weather. Popped in and bought a huge yummy focaccia (which took me 3 days to finish in the end!) for just £3, and then much-relieved, whiled the afternoon away with some books til the rain finally stopped for a breather! read more

Similar to their sister shop on 202 Upper street. Possibly this shop has a bit more pleasant athmosphere, but the quality of coffee and food is very similar. They may deserve more than 3 stars, but I have difficult to justify more than 3 stars for any cafe that doesn't fully understand how to make a cappucino. read more

Euphorium is a cute bakery/coffee shop in the Angel area. Located minutes away from the tube, it is a cozy spot to grab a cup of java and a sweet treat. While seating is limited, the pastry selection is not; Euphorium offers a variety of baked goods. Their eclairs are heavenly and by the looks of it - so are their other options. The queue is notoriously long for this very reason. Seating is a bit limited, but people are often coming and going so the wait isn't so bad. I would definitely come back here! read more

I don't really get this place - more hype than substance. Too much hoopla about handcrafted bread (how else would bread be made?). I'm not even sure anything is really made on site because I've seen little vans drop off ready pastries. At best, each shop (and there are a few of them now) receives ready-made dough so they might bake some of the bread at each location. Perhaps I've been spoiled, but the bread and pastries are mediocre (and I think over-priced). But maybe I'm the only one that think sthis as I have read rave reviews. The locations are conveniently sprinkled around north London so I'll stick to a coffee or tea with a friend every now and then. read more

The latest addition to the Euphorium enterprise opened recently on Upper Street, in the former location of Reckless Records, and it looks likely to be the best of the bunch from what I saw on my visit. The space is fantastic, all exposed bricks and huge sliding glass windows which were flung open to let the fresh air and sunshine stream in, and the baked goods lined up behind the counter looked mouth watering. There's a different specialty bread every day, a long list of gourmet sandwiches, different quiches, savoury and sweet pies, cakes, coffees, salads, fruit juices and so much more. This is the kind of place which makes my wheat-free existence so much harder to bear, the drool from my mouth at the thought of the divine taste of all these treats mingling with the salty tears from my eyes as I realise that if I eat anything barring the salads, the one wheat free bread or the two gluten free cakes, my body will make me suffer like the papers are making politicians suffer at the present time. Aside from my personal suffering though, this new branch of Euphorium looks set to be a popular retreat for Islingtonites over the coming months, and the tasty treats on offer will doubtless make them [I can't believe I'm going to write this but I feel a bit of awful humour can lighten my mood after having reminded myself of everything I'm missing out on] euphoric. Coffee is so so and more pricy then other mainstream coffee shops. On a plus side they have a wide choice of cakes etc

I find this chain bland and as much as the cakes and pastries look fancy, the taste of them do not appear worlds apart. Overpriced bakery there to appear fancy via marketing. read more
