I went to Eureka Break a few months ago because I knew I needed front breaks. I dropped off my car and they called me the next day with a quote, it was over $1k. On a 20 year old Toyota? Um no. So I told them to just do the front breaks, which was about $500. In the inspection they broke something and had to replace it. Fine whatever. They charge for a inspection, which seems like a trap to keep you doing the work there. I should I have gone somewhere else. Over 24 hours to do this job seemed like a lot, but I was happy it was done. They advised me to do the back ones soon. The next month I moved out of the area and soon after that my back breaks started to make noise. I took my car to Les Swab. They did an inspection and I DID NOT NEED ANY more BREAK WORK at the time. I had 2-3 months still left on my back breaks. The noise was from Eureka Break putting them back on incorrectly!! So 2 things are possible: 1) They did this on purpose to get more money out of me. 2) They made an error in putting my car back together. EITHER WAY I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO EUREKA BREAK EVER. read more

The quality of service was poor. My brakes on my f250 truck were so tight it locked up over anything over a light step. The cost was overpriced compared to other shops in town. The secretary tired to get a mechanic to man explain why I needed extra unnecessary work which I promptly refused and got another certified shop to the same work for less than half the cost. read more

We were recommended by a local to come to Eureka Brake and Automotive. They were very flexible about scheduling an appointment. It was easy to find this business and easy to park. A quick peek showed us a beautifully organized shop floor. We went into the lobby and found a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, and kind. Our car received prompt service. The waiting area is very organized, clean and comfortable. (The restrooms are clean, too.) We arrived with a strange noise coming from under the hood. The mechanic diagnosed and fixed the problem promptly and efficiently. At the end of our visit, the head mechanic came out to us and explained what they'd fixed, and gave follow-up suggestions. He is very smart. He gave us the standard printout showing details, for our files. As we left, the front office staff even recommended we check out the farmer's market. I had some unusual wear ruin my front tires so before getting an alignment, I bought two new ones , had them put on and scheduled an appointment at Eureka Brake and Automotive. The young man I spoke to worked with me to set up an appointment first thing in the morning so they could get started on the truck right away and I could wait there for it. He was very polite and helpful and took special care to carefully explain to me that they would have to check out the steering system to make sure there wasn't anything mechanically wrong that was causing the wear. When I brought the truck in I was greeted by a very friendly front office woman who had just brewed a fresh pot of coffee. As I sat in the comfortable waiting area, another young man went out of his way to explain the procedure again and warning me that there could actually be a bigger problem than an alignment could fix. Shortly thereafter (you can probably see where this is going) I was informed that indeed, there was quite a bit of work upfront that needed to be done. They offered me a ride home and said they would try to finish the car today if it all possible. I live at the far end in Freshwater Valley And they offered to pick me up if they got it finished that very day. They went out of their way and made every effort and were able to finish it that day. I picked it up a little after 4 PM and could not be happier with the whole experience. This is an honest, hard-working, locally owned shop, and I highly recommend them. read more

I had an urgent issue with my 2009 Toyota FJ and the staff went above and beyond. I contacted at least 4 other garages in town and not one of them could get me in to run a diagnostic for several days and some it was going to be weeks! Eureka brake & automotive were able to get me in the same day! They were booked for the day, but I was willing to wait as they were trying to squeeze me in between jobs. I was not expecting to have my vehicle fixed I just wanted to know what was wrong but they had me up and running within a couple hours! Staff was professional and customer service was awesome. These people are pretty special. We've had new & used Volvo's for over 20 yrs. All work has been done by this team. Gave last car, a 2015 Volvo, to my daughter who lives in Crescent City, A/C fan stopped responding to switch. No mechanic or dealership could help. They all said: "you gotta take it to a Volvo dealer." She brought the car back to Eureka. I took it in this morning. Got a call an hour ago; problem diagnosed (a faulty resistor). On one hand, EBA has A LOT of my money and I don't have a consistently functioning car to show for it. On the other hand, the service is super friendly and patient. I truly think they know what they're doing. Maybe there is some expertise or oversight lacking that would help technicians find and address the broader "root causes" of my car ailments. Or it's entirely possible that Subarus 2.5xts are loaves of dung and the guy from Canada that sold me my Honda Element scammed the crap out of me because it ran like a dead walrus from day one. I made an appointment to have my antifreeze and my inverter fluid flushed out and replaced. I was quoted $125 and said, "great, I also received a $25 off any coolant change coupon in the mail". When I arrived for my appointment I was told it is $122 for my inverter fluid and they would not take my coupon. I told the employee I had scheduled for inverter fluid and an antifreeze flush and replacement. Then I was told it's $350 to have the inverter fluid and antifreeze coolant replaced. I wish I was told the correct price of ($350) before I planned my day around you servicing my car. The price is too high, and I will go somewhere else. You all have wasted my time! read more

I was greeted by Cliff who has outstanding customer service and was extremely patient as I explained all my concerns (I often feel like I'm that pain in the ass customer, but not here). Not only did they do an inspection but they told me clearly what repairs I should anticipate, what safety concerns there were, and what steps needed to be done to make it road worthy right now. We cannot say enough great words about this establishment. Their kindness, honesty and integrity go above and beyond in all aspects of their service. We were traveling through the area on a road trip from So. Cal. We had reason to believe that our vehicle needed some brake service and wanted it checked out before traveling another 600 miles. We called many many brake service shops on the morning of June 28th, 2021, and every shop said they were booked out for two weeks or more. Including Eureka Brake & Automotive. We decided we would have to wait until our next stop 150 miles away. We then got a call from Eureka Brake & Automotive saying they adjusted their schedule to fit us in to take a look. They knew we were far from home and just passing through and felt they should check our car for safety. They knew we would not be a return customer, so that was not their reason for helping us. They just knew it was the right thing to do - to help someone in need. While they were repairing our vehicle (which was WAY worse off than we imagined - disaster was eminent) they gave us a ride to a local coffee shop to wait out the repair, as we had no other vehicle. They picked us up later and even stayed beyond their regular working hours to ensure we had our vehicle returned to us that same day. Trustworthy, kind, fair and thorough are just a few adjectives that come to mind. I wish we had a shop like this near us in our hometown. read more

My son and I got stranded hundreds of miles from home. We got towed 100 miles and were planning to take the car to the local dealership, but it turned out they were booked up for a week solid. I'm new to the area on orders, so was very skeptical taking my car to any mechanic in a area I'm not familiar with. I was not disappointed. My jeep wrangler was having overheating problems. They were able to diagnose the problems which I was aware of from a previous mechanic. That was the first good sign that they were telling me the truth. The customer service was on point both when I dropped it off and picked it up. The labor and parts were very fair. If your military or have AAA they provided a discount which saved me about $100. Someone gave me an oil change card for Eureka Brake & Automotive. While I was waiting in the fancy waiting lounge, the attendant came me know how dirty many of my fluids were and wanted to help. He gave me an estimate of $441.83 for auto transmission fluid, power steering fluid and brake fluid. I called my regular shop and they quoted me a number that was roughly HALF. My mechanic inspected, changed and charged me for brake and power steering fluids. He said the transmission fluid was perfect and didn't need changing. He saved me $343.83+TX I will not ever be returning. read more

Went here to get an oil change after being referred for some summer deal (said they'd wash my car, they did vacuum it, but no wash). Oil change took about 3.5 hours, I just hung out there because I was NOT walking around Eureka, especially that area. The waiting room was decent, they served crappy waiting room coffee. After the inspections/oil change, a guy came out and said my rear brakes were down to basically nothing. It would cost me ~400 dollars to replace the rear pads or ~800 to do a full work up including replacing some pistons/calipers, I said I'd wait for now. After the necessary grieving period for being quoted that much to fix my car, called another locally trusted place and they quoted me half like another review said. I appreciate their thoroughness, but I am a poor college kid, I can't afford them. read more
