Hate to say, but the place has gone downhill some. A couple of years ago, I had homemade chicken fried steak from scratch, homemade cream gravy, and homemade french fries with it. Last time I ate there, I had a frozen fritter with canned sausage, gravy (every other restaurant uses that now. I don't know why, it's not rocket science making a good gravy!), and frozen french fries on the side. But the desserts are absolutely delicious, pies made from scratch! Minor adjustments to the place. They sell bottled beverages, snacks, and nicotine like a pit stop. Put up new local art, and the place is currently busy with a 30min wait for food and the sewer is temporarily backed up, having to use the restrooms in the green lodge(?) bathing area(?). On the drive up to Fairbanks from Anchorage, we stopped by here as a rest stop to eat and get some fresh air during the road trip. It was a very quaint and cute restaurant. There were great views of mountains surrounding the restaurant. Not too many people on a Friday afternoon. Our waitress was very friendly and sweet. She gave us great menu tips and explained why the peanut butter and jelly sandwich was $60 - it's their most hated thing to make, so they overcharge in order for people to not order it! We ordered their country fried steak, special filet o' fish sandwich, and steak sandwich. The steak was surprisingly pretty good, cooked medium rare. We requested for garlic salt for the fries and the waitress gladly accommodated. Also, it was amazing that their bottomless coffee was only 25 cents, however, the cost justified its taste. It was watered down. We also ordered their banana cream and apple pie with ice cream. The banana pudding was interesting, but not too shabby. The apple pie used canned apples, but the ice cream was very complementary to the sweetness. I would give 5 stars for service and 3 stars for food. This my favorite Roadhouse in Alaska. I posted a long review earlier today while soaking in our Elder Bath. Then I loaded the car and headed for Moose hunting camp 120 miles from home. The Lodge is less than 10 miles from camp and the perfect stop for lunch. I have added photos to this review and a bowl of soup and the piece of pie and bottomless coffee I had a total bill of $10.50. That is a great price for a wonderful lunch anywhere but in Alaska it is Golden. The food is great, the staff outstanding and the value the best in Alaska. If you pass here without stopping you have missed a chance for happiness when you do! read more

Eureka Restaurant is kind of a staple in our home... it's obviously not an all-the-time sort of place to go, but when in the area for hunting, fishing or snow machining, it's a must go! It's pretty low key and service can be hit or miss. One odd thing is there are no free refills on any of the beverages, including the infamous 25c cup of coffee.... this is clearly stated on the menu. Admittedly, I can't bring myself to pay $2 for about a 10oz soda, that's doesn't get refilled. The coffee is fine, it's nothing to write home about. We find the portions to be pretty large and tend to see left overs thrown out from other tables. We know the routine after all these years and split a meal and piece of pie. Today was no exception to our rule... bacon cheeseburger with homemade fries with a banana cream pie to finish it off. It was great; we were pleased and it was a wonderful ending to a great day of ice fishing!! read more

Eureka was recommended to us as a good place to gas up and stop for pie while we are there anyway. Some highlights: - it was surprisingly crowded here with tables getting lunch - our pies came out quickly... Largely because they were pre-plated - coffee (as others have said) is only $0.25, which is nice The pies were not great though, and each slice cost $5. We tried the coconut cream pie, the banana cream pie, chocolate cream pie, and apple pie. All came from a can or pudding packet. Maybe the banana cream pie was my favorite? None really were worth writing home about, and they didn't have the fun flavors they told us about (Reeses peanut butter cup). Still a worthwhile gas and coffee stop, but the pies were just ok. read more

Let's get a couple of things out of the way: 25 cent coffee! Closed Tuesdays! Open 7-8pm in the winter and 7-9pm in the summer. I do not know what the cutoffs are for these two seasons. Stopped in here for breakfast before a day of climbing off the Glenn. I usually eat at Sheep Mountain Lodge or Long Rifle Lodge, but neither of them was open early for food. I was surprised that there was yet a THIRD place to get grub on this sparsely populated road! Breakfast was classic diner fair. Coffee was indeed 25 cents! But it didn't seem to come with any refills :( Place really started to fill up in the morning, they seemed a bit overwhelmed. Worth a stop if you're driving on the Glenn and get hangry. You've probably driven by it numerous times and not even known it was here: it's the gas station in the middle of nowhere. read more

No clue why the bad reviews? First off they have the nicest staff ever...the waitresses were so friendly that I could have sat all day chatting with them. I even met the cooks, they were nice as well. I stopped in for dinner at 6pm one night last week, it's mainly diner food, started with a cup of chili (terrible) then for dinner got a grilled cheese and homemade handcut fries (delicious) and a slice of their Apple pie with ice cream for dessert. THEN car camped to watch the Northern lights down the street and came back at 7am for breakfast and got pancake bacon and their famous 25 cent coffee (not strong enough for me but only 25 cents). The restaurant is clean and easy location right off highway. Only reason it's not 5 stars is the coffee needs to be a tad stronger and the chili is terrible recipe needs to be re done but overall great place, staff excellent. read more

If you've been driving for 2.5 hours from Anchorage on the way to Glennallen or Tok, you'll be swingin by this little place on mile 128. You can't miss it because it's got a Tesoro on the left side of the road with some smaller buildings. Inside is the Eureka Roadhouse which serves up some awesome home-cooked meals. The best part of the meal are the pies made from scratch. On a round-trip deal we stopped by here twice and tried the banana creme, cherry, and cinnamon apple. They were all so delicious! And add on a bottomless cup of coffee that's only a quarter! read more

We came in at the end of the lunch rush. We were seated within a couple minutes, got our menus and ordered within 10 minutes after that. And our food arrived in less than 10 minutes after that. Bottom line, no problems at all with speed of service as some previous reviewers had reported. The food is basic diner fare - tasty but nothing fancy. But it's hot and filling. One exception is their homemade pies...the cherry pie (warmed and a la mode, of course!) was delicious, and all the other choices looked great too, so be sure to save room for dessert! read more

We were very disappointed. I asked for a refill on my tea and was charged for another cup of tea. We were both very disappointed in our hamburger steak dinners. The gravy was out of the can. The Waitress acted like she did not even want to be work. There really was no ambience and some music would've been nice to drown out the dishwasher in the kitchen. If there was a way to give half a star, I would. Girlfriend and I walked in, sat down at the bar at 11:30. Waited, waited and waited. Weren't even offered their famous "25¢ coffee" they're so proud of. 11:50 rolls around and they finally hand us menus. Then go to make us wait even longer, my girlfriend walked up to stop a waiter to ask about ordering breakfast. This staff purposely let us sit there til noon (which is the time they stop selling breakfast) so they would avoid selling us anything on the breakfast menus. I took a group of four people to the Eureka roadhouse today. we each had a different item on the menu. one person had the ribs I had the "savory chicken". my daughter had a roast beef sandwich which was called a "hot roast beef"sandwich and a fourth person had spaghetti. the chicken was undercooked and not savory, not even spiced with salt. The ribs ($20) were overcooked to the point where they were basically jerky and inedible. the hot roast beef sandwich turned out to be an open faced roast beef sandwich with gravy on it served over white bread .my daughter had to remove the bread because it was soggy. It was covered in gravy because of the meat was old and dried out. Very bad food. Disgusting. Pitiful salad. Canned veggies. NOT RECOMMENDED! read more

We love stopping to eat at Eureka Lodge whenever we are headed up North. Their fries are freshly cut and their pies are delish! Just had a cup of chicken noodle there this morning and it was obviously homemade and yummy! If you haven't stopped in around Christmas you should, they definitely get into the spirit! We stopped here for lunch on the way from Wrangell-St. Elias to Anchorage. Truth be told, we didn't have much choice, as we were unaware of any other restaurants in the area. We walked in, not expecting much and basically just hoping not to leave with food poisoning (bathrooms are few and far between out here). Speaking of which, don't expect to use the facilities at this restaurant without buying some food. There are conspicuous signs stating restrooms are for customers only. When our food arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to find it delicious. My husband was glad he saved room for a slice of pie. There was an extensive list on the wall and although not all were available, there were plenty to choose from. The restaurant looked clean and the wait staff was attentive. We'd go here regularly if we lived closer, even if there were dozens of restaurants to chose from. read more

The staff was very friendly and kind at this hotel. Outside world class views! However, normal conversations in the room next door could be easily heard. The beds and pillows were not particularly comfortable. Worst of all several of the beds were very noisy whenever the occupant moved. The sheets were mismatched. Overall seems in need of renovation. Yesterday we came in for breakfast. We arrived at 9:55 and placed our order. We were only one of three tables there, so not busy at all. (Our order was the one and only hanging up). At 10:30, the cook finally arrived. We then asked the waitress if our order was being cooked, and she said it's almost done. That was a lie, as it took another 20 minutes for sausage and eggs, except when it finally came, the order was wrong. After not even offering to fix it, I told her we were out of there.
