Stayed here two nights. Arriving early, I expected to check luggage but was graciously accommodated with an early checkin. The room, which was an executive double, was nicely appointed and well done. The lobby bar was nice, though crowded. The Piano Bar was terrific, both drinks and view. We dined at the Causerie twice, which was nice but at a slight premium. Overall this is a terrific hotel. It's location can't be beat. It has fascinating history and a ton of features that I really enjoyed. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

When I go on a relaxing holiday, I always like to research the best places or areas of town to stay in. Somewhere close to the hustle and bustle, easy access to places to go out in and see the sights. When making my decision on Belfast, there were several good options. That was until I found out about the Europa Hotel. Not only is this hotel very nice inside, the rooms are good size, very comfortable beds, nice flat screen TV's, good sized showers, competent and friendly staff, they also have a great piano bar that stays open till well after most pubs in the area close. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that this is the most bombed hotel IN THE WORLD?!!! Some may say, no thank you. I say, bring it on biatches. Granted those days are long gone, but it definitely adds to the allure of this hotel. Definitely one of the nicer ones in the area. It is in great proximity to the City Centre and there are several great pubs across the street (Robinson's Bars and the Crown Bar Liquor Saloon). read more

I've been to the Europa hotel many times, but there was one occasion that I will remember for the rest of my days. Well, certainly the parts before my wheels fell off and I lost a couple of hours of my life. It was a Belfast business awards dinner, and the people I work for invited me and a few others to attend. We hadn't won anything in ages, and were just there to enjoy ourselves when Lo! and behold, we won a prestigious award, and found ourselves throwing back vast quantities of champagne and feeling very pleased with ourselves. I should state at this point that everything was run very smoothly by the Europa - excellent food, entertainment, service and drinks. Anyway. There was a post-dinner party laid on for us, which was great craic. My colleagues and I shambled out into the Belfast night at about 4am in search of a taxi. I can't remember dropping (and smashing) our award on the pavement, so there's a possibility it could have been someone else. Nobody owned up though. As I say, I've been to the Europa quite a few times and enjoy sitting in the bar upstairs after dinner, watching the world go by. Any bad experiences I've had here were entirely my own fault for drinking an absolutely staggering amount of complimentary champagne. read more

Recently made a quick decision to spend a few days in Belfast and stayed just one night at the Europa - better know as 'Europe's most bombed Hotel'! From the minute we entered the reception area we were greeted by extremely friendly and chatty staff who were all delighted to see 'southerns' visiting their fair city! Our car was valet parked, although it did cost around €20 for 24 hours which was acceptable. As we were checking in, we were asked if we'd like a complimentary upgrade, which of course we accepted and to our delight were guided to a luxuriously fantastic suite with a very good view over the city. We had a massive and unbelievably comfy bed with a huge bathroom suite and in fact we were just across the corridor from the 'Bill Clinton' suite - so that was a nice surprise. As you walk up the windy staircase from the opulent and modern reception area to the upstairs piano bar and cafe, the walls are covered all the way up with framed pictures of the many celebrities and famous people who stayed at the hotel since it first opened - in fact you need to give yourself some time to stroll upstairs slowly and absorb the historical picture/photo guide. Downside, drinks at the bar were definitely over-priced, but the breakfast made up for that the next morning - great choice and excellent quality with freshly made pots of tea/coffee seved to each table and ample supply of newspapers available. We were also able to leave our car for pickup later in the afternoon at no extra cost as we took a tour of the city. Highly recommend this wonderful and conveniently located city centre hotel but do check out various websites before booking as there are great bargains to be had, particularly if you go midweek. read more

The most bombed hotel in Europe! lol It's a bit over-rated. Rooms are nice, but i've seen better. The restaurant is over-priced, although the service is good. I think the whole experience is over-priced. Reception staff are very friendly and really know the local area and the bar staff are good craic. read more

Very nice hotel. If you get the king-size bed room, you'll be pretty happy. Comfortable beds, clean rooms, nice accommodations. being right across the street from the Crown Bar, and two other Pubs is very nice if you going for a good time. It's also in walking distance from a fun night Club, I think was called Vaudeville. As a bonus, the bar stays open for guests past normal closing time... waaaay past closing time :-) read more

We loved the restaurant he recommended for dinner, Stix and Stones and the Crown Bar is amazing. Ask for a printed sheet about the history if you like that sort of thing. Thank you for overbooking on my dream weekend vacation. 48 hours notice that you "cannot accommodate our reservation" is an abysmal excuse for service. This trip was supposed to celebrate my recovery from cancer. I was so excited to see the city and sights and your callous disregard for the actual human beings that you overbooked has truly ruined my trip to Ireland. My spirits are very down because of this experience and what was magical trip is now a stressful nightmare. I am sincerely disappointed and don't care if you do your best to minimize these situations. This is one. I'm in it. And you have done nothing to truly ameliorate an unfortunate "situation" that you are the cause of. read more

The staff are delightful, the beds are incredibly comfortable, it's quiet, the facilities are top class. Room service could be a bit better - last time i ordered, food was 1 hour late and quite cold but they gave it to me for free so, can't complain that much! read more

The Europa is a clean, well kept hotel in the heart of downtown Belfast. The good: it has a lovely lobby that's a fun people-watching spot, the beds are pretty comfortable, and the service was pretty decent. My mom asked for hypoallergenic bedding and it was brought up almost immediately. The bad: what is up with the bathroom? Our shower/tub had no door or shower curtain; instead, it had a tiny glass partition between the tub and toilet. I'm still not sure how I was supposed to keep the bathroom from flooding. It's a stupid setup. Also, the room is kind of dated, with plaid everywhere! The ugly: almost all the others on our tour had nicer rooms, it seems. They all raved about their bathrooms, complete with doors, separate tubs (ours was a combo), and little rubber duckies. WTF, Europa? I didn't get a rubber ducky. On another quick note, both breakfasts and dinner were good. The staff was very accommodating with substitutions and the food was enjoyable, but slow...slow...slow. Breakfast was like a cattle call, and was set up in a much-too- small space for the number of people eating. It's certainly not the environment I'd choose before my first cup of coffee. read more

On our most recent trip to Ireland we stayed in Belfast and WOW what a wonderful location/hotel. Upon our arrival into the busy city we had no idea where to park. I ran inside to ask the staff. The front desk associates were soo kind. The bellman John Walker went over and beyond! My husband had parked on the side of the street and waited for me to return with the location of parking. The Bellman John followed me to my husband on the street and guided him where to park. He even offered to grab our luggage from the car so we wouldn't have to drag it from the lot. HE was soo kind, helpful and did all with a smile! We both work as managers in the hotel industry and this is top notch service. As our first trip to the city he told us all the great spots. Across the street was the Crown Bar very popular and an icon in the city. When we arrived in our room we noticed it was very warm. I asked about air conditioning and we were able to move to another room with air due to Johns quick help. The bed was comfortable and very very nice! We found a wonderful little ducky on the tub. He is now our travel buddy. We took him everywhere on our last week of our vacation through Scotland/Ireland. Mr. McFinnegan is a new friend of ours now in SD. :) Cant wait to take him on our next vacation somewhere fun. Thanks Europa! Wonderful Experience! Great team. read more

My TripAdvisor Review: I have been putting off this review long enough. I have been waiting for when I have enough time to really put some effort into this review, because this has been the most amazing hotel, I have ever stayed at. And I used to work at a high end hotel too. I walked in to this hotel, and immediately was impressed. First, they still had they're holiday decorations up (I arrived Jan. 3rd) and was so impressed, this had to be one of the most fanciest places I have stayed at. I walked up to the front desk and was greeted by both Rachel and Daria with smiles on their faces. I was informed that my reservation had been cancelled, but before I could have heart palpitations, I was told that, no worries let's rebook and also got myself an upgrade for the trouble. Totally worth it. The room, was SO beautiful! The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was so amazing. The bathtub also had a rainfall shower. I actually took pictures of the bathroom to send to my friends and make them jealous. I felt like i was at a spa. The location of this hotel is pretty good, well for the pubs at least. I was able to walk safely to the pubs and more importantly, walk safely back to my hotel from the pubs after drinking. The restaurant they have in the hotel, has really good food and amazing service. The blueberry Cosmo was to die for. Let's talk about the staff. Both Rachel and Daria were amazing at the front desk. They remembered my name for all 5 days that I was staying at the hotel. They struck up conversations with me, helped me with directions and also helped me to plan some sightseeing. They were extremely genuine and amazing at what they do. I used to work at a high end hotel, so these things are important to me. Then there was Marty. Marty was the true epitome of a Northern Irish man. He was extremely hospitable, and funny. He was the jokester of the hotel, and always put a smile on my face. Now for my 2 favorite people, who made my whole experience in Ireland so memorable. More memorable than London, Amsterdam, or Dublin. I truly feel that I want to come back to Belfast JUST to stay at this hotel again. That is how amazing these people are. Philip Murphy and Emma. So on my first night in Belfast, I had trouble sleeping and went downstairs and met Philip. He was so hospitable and so charming. He let me hangout with him and pick his brain on everything that is Ireland. Especially Northern Ireland, where he was born and raised. I learned so much history from him, as well as the cool places to visit and things to do from him. He was supreme. Mary, is also just as amazing. There is nothing but amazing things that I can say about Mary. She was extremely professional but also polite. She also helped me out by hanging out with me, while another guest at the hotel was trying to get my attention in the not most flattering way. She did this in SUCH a professional way, that the other guest did not even realize when he was being dismissed. I cannot say enough about this hotel, the location, the amenities, the staff. This is truly a remarkable place that I either recommend staying at, or visiting and trying out their Blueberry Cosmo. I can't wait to come back and stay here. Although this is about as central as you could get and the history of the hotel and the atmosphere is great and interesting. IT is a bit plane for the price and the food isnt anything to write home about worth it to say you've stayed in the most bombed hotel in europe (something to tell the grandkids?) t does have a bus station and is beside the train station so v handy if your travelling. read more

Very handy for the City Centre, and I'm glad I've stayed at this landmark Belfast hotel. But it's somewhere to stay for one night only to say you've stayed there. Apart from saving a fortune through the wireless internet service, this place has nothing really to recommend it. No gym or sauna, no pool. And breakfast is served in a rather cramped room that can get very uncomfortable in the Summer months if you are sat by the window. Staff not particularly helpful. I checked in early and asked for a room with a view and got one overlooking the bins!! read more

The word 'boring' springs to mind here. The Europa tends to be a hangout for Z List Celebrities who think people actually recognise them. The service is rubbish and overall it's frankly boring. I was in the second floor bar for a few drinks last night and it took 20 minutes to be served a bottle of coke even though there were only 4 of us at the bar. Maybe it's all the airhead Z listers bringing the place down, but it really doesn't seem to have any liveliness to it. I think the most exciting thing that's ever happened to it was probably when it got bombed during The Troubles. Speaking of which, time for a demolition boys; the place is falling apart. read more

The plus side; 1)The bar, although fantastically over priced is actually quite a nice place to be 2)The restaurant is a very nice place to call in for a quick lunch The negative; 1)The rooms are looking a little bit dated as are the corridors and and everything but the lobby. 2)Prices are about on par with the newly opened Fitzwilliam which is a much nicer place to stay. read more

Called into the Europa for a few drinks with an old friend - it was actually my first time ever being in the place. Impressions were that it feels a wee bit dated with some very strange design decisions. Settled in the upstairs piano bar which was reasonably busy - ordered the first round and had a long long wait before the drinks arrived, literally 15 mins. I book travel for the Company I work for in the United States. We had three employees travel to Belfast to meet with a client, and the client suggested that they stay at the Europa. Everything was going smoothly until I called to request an early check in. After several unanswered emails, I called the hotel and requested an early check in. They stated that the only way to do this would be to book for the night before. I reiterated that our employees would be getting at 9:30am after a long day of travel and need their rooms for a nap before meeting with clients. The lady I spoke to on the phone verified that she understood, and that everything would be taken care of. Monday morning I get into work and discover that the hotel "lost" our employees reservations and had no room for them on Sunday morning when they got in. The employees finally found a room for our employees to stay in, but since they lost their reservations they now made our employees pay with their own credit cards for their rooms, even though I had already sent over a credit card authorization form. If they had lost the reservations, and needed our travel card to re-verify, why didn't they just pull the info from there? One of our employees said that the staff at the front desk was unwilling to help them. I called the hotel to see what the trouble was, and they told me that because our employees didn't show up on Saturday night, they gave away their rooms. When I asked why I was told that this was the best way to secure an early check in when they have that policy, they said that they didn't know. I did receive an apology email from the hotel manager, and they so graciously agreed to refund us for the night that they refused to give our employees their rooms. When I asked if they hotel staff had offered them an apology for the mistake or if they gave them any kind of incentive to go back, our employees said that the staff never even acknowledged their mistake. Needless to say, I am never booking anyone here again! This hotel also charges for internet access. read more

a beautiful property that promised a nice stay. until we got into the lobby, room wasn't ready. when we finally got into one of the two rooms we had reserved it had, unexpectedly, a trundle bed set up in addition to the two beds for my kids. my room was too small to turn around in and had no air conditioning. we entered the restaurant and thought we were in paris; surrounded by rude waiters whose last interest was waiting tables. after 20 minutes I went to the bar and was told they would get with me "shortly" food was sub par when it finally came. stay away. when the bill came they had charged us for 6 Guinness, we had 4, 3 Mojitos, we had 2 and 3 bottled waters, we had 1, 2 Roast beef sandwiches, we had 1 and 2 club sandwiches, we had 1. crazy. The management there is nonexistent. watch your wallets read more

I cannot rate the hotel since we did not stay there this weekend, however, my husband and I walked from our hotel to Europa for breakfast this morning and wow, were we disappointed! Lobby was pretty enough and looked quite nice. We had heard a lot about this hotel and wanted to have breakfast before heading back to Dublin. We were told the breakfast was £16.50 (pounds) for non residents of the hotel which was fine. We were seated, and we waited, and waited and waited some more for a waitress to come and take our order, but my husband had to go to her and she said it was buffet style. My husband asked her if we could have coffee, she said yes and so we went up to make our platters. The first three plates I took from the stack were dirty with globs of ketchup on one and crumbs and jam on another so I was not too thrilled. The buffet consisted of the usual fare-scrambled eggs, sausage, fried tomatoes, etc., but almost every pan was empty. They had a "cold" bar consisting of fruit, yogurt, cold meats and cheeses, and most of these platters were also empty. The fruit salad was just a bowl of fruit with a ladle! There were no scones, no Danish, no croissants and they were slowly replenishing the bread for toast, but the counters were very dirty...spilled milk, leftover egg and crumbs from plates were all over the counter where toaster was stationed. Pots of beans were empty...bowls of jam and marmalade were empty...nothing seemed to be replenished and no one was cleaning or wiping up any of the spills. There were plenty of people working, but many of them seemed to be just walking around not doing much of anything.There were trays of dirty dishes just piled up on top of one another. Never a good sign! We had asked the waitress for coffee and thought that by the time we made our platters and sat back down at our table, our coffee would be there, but to our surprise, NO coffee. This really is unacceptable in a hotel of this quality. It seemed to us that the wait staff was totally inept and lazy since keeping the food areas clean and the food replenished is key to running a successful restaurant! When we sat down to no coffee and no waitress to be found, we put our coats on, left our platters on the table, and walked out...our dishes are probably still sitting on the table where we left them! The Europa was one of the highlights of our trip. We were staying here for one night as part of our tour of Ireland. Check-in was smooth and easy, thanks to Linda who patiently answered all our questions and was very accommodating of our group (we can be a bit demanding). Parking was easy to find just around the corner in a secure car park. As for the rooms, they were very spacious and had everything you might need. I appreciated having a desk to catch up on some postcard writing! We also had a very nice view of Belfast. The next morning the concierge arranged for a black taxi tour of the city (highly recommended to get some of the local history) which picked us up right in front of the hotel. Cost was 10 pounds per person. At the end we asked our driver to drop us off at the Titanic museum. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel as it wasn't included, but there's plenty of places literally next door to have coffee, smoothies, etc. read more
