We rented a vehicle from this company from February 15, 2026, to February 22, 2026. Unfortunately, on February 22, 2026, Guadalajara, Mexico, experienced a lockdown due to a wave of violence following the death of a drug lord. My family and I were scheduled to return the rental car at the Guadalajara airport on February 22, 2026. However, due to the ongoing violence, we were unable to return the car. Our flight was canceled, and I attempted to contact the rental car company multiple times throughout the day and night on February 22 and 23, 2026, but my calls and texts went unanswered. I paid to secure my rental car in a garage to protect it from the violence in Guadalajara. It remained secured and unused for the additional duration of our stay in Guadalajara. Despite this, the company is charging me the full rental price plus the full coverage insurance I had originally paid for the dates I rented the car. Which is fine, but they are also charging me for the additional four days (February 23, 2026, to February 26, 2026), even though we were on lockdown and unable to leave our homes. The rental car company was closed and did not reach out to me until February 25, 2026. They only contacted me to ask when we would return and pay for the rental. They even had the audacity to claim that they were not penalizing me for not returning the car on the day it was due (February 22, 2026), which was the main lockdown day. When I arrived to pick up the car on February 25, 2026, I was disappointed to find that it was not ready. The car was not the original car I had rented, it was not washed, and it did not have gas. We had to wait quite some time for the car to be handed to me. This rental company is completely unacceptable. I will never rent from them again, and I strongly advise others to avoid them as well. Rented with Keddy who is ran by Europcar and they made it so difficult for me since the get go. When getting there they wanted me to rebook because my flight got delayed and they couldn't open up the booking on an iPad. I kid you not they had me waiting for more than 3 hours from 1-4 am with my toddler. When returning the car they said I had damaged the car. I always take a slow video of the car. I told them the damage was there and my video would load but they did not let me leave until they charges me around $500 USD. They reassured me that one the video loaded I can send it to them via email and get refund to my card. Long story short it took hours of calling, emails, and WhatsApp messages to get my money back. They were quick to charge me and made it nearly impossible for me to get my refund. I was even blocked from customer service number. I reached out to the WhatsApp as if I had a pending booking and when they replied I inquired about my refund. They are a nightmare Keddy and Europcar. Horrible car company that only wants to take advantage of tourists by adding ridiculous insurance fees or deductibles while you're vacationing. Rented a car prior to flying into Guadalajara for a wedding and added full insurance coverage with the rental company to find out that they don't honor it and they want to charge you an outrageous deductible in order to take the car. Ended up paying triple of the rental for additional insurance or be stuck in another country with no car to get around. If you can avoid this car company please do for your own good. We had a reservation through Expedia / carrentals.com and when we went to get the car from their affiliate (Europcar) we were told our prepaid insurance and rental required an additional deposit of the price of the car, $13,000 USD. When I pointed out the prepaid insurance etc. I was offered a $295 USD additional fee to avoid the $13,000 deposit. We canceled and are using Uber. To the point everyone makes about their reservations not being honored, that is true. I had been told this ahead of time so I never reserve a car while in the states. I show up to the kiosk outside the international arrivals and we got taken to their center to pick up. Granted, when we got the quote it was $425 with a 90% coverage for the car. I decided to upgrade for the 100% so thats why there was the increase in price noted in the picture. There was a long wait time, since there was another lady who like many of the other reviews had pre-reserved. Keep in mind, you will need to show them a valid license, valid US passport, and a credit card. And by valid, that means not expired (which is what the lady arguing had). Keep in mind, you are in Mexico and the internet speed is not like that of the US so you do need to have some patience when their system lags. read more

I always make a reservation for car rentals when I go to Mexico because I want a guarantee that there is a car available. This is the first & last time renting from Europcar. I made my reservation through Priceline while here in the states & it guaranteed that I should not be harassed to add any other insurance if I purchased the one they offered for $65USD (100% coverage). Keep in mind the prices are never what is quoted in the states vs once in Mexico. My total in Mexico was supposed to be $25USD. The only good experience I had in this entire situation was the shuttle driver that took us from the airport to the rental place. From then the rep at the counter, Ibeth, was callous, pushy & petty. Her system was in English & Spanish, she spoke some English; I speak both languages with English being my primary. This is for context. When you're checking in & you give them all your info (passport, DL & credit card) there is a point where you get to the insurance. I explained I already purchased through here, but she insisted it doesn't cover anything & kept proceeding to sell me $230USD of insurance. I told her it was not needed & she kept telling me she could not bypass it even though her system's screen said it just needed a Supervisor's approval. We kept arguing back-&-forth. I eventually caved deciding I could cancel it with Priceline. We then proceeded to the payment screen. I gave her my credit card of which I have plenty of credit limit on & she insisted it was my "application" that was an issue because payment wasn't going through. I said "no it's your machine"; the screen said "terminal error", so that has nothing to do with my card. I'm not stupid, but she proceeded to act like I was. Eventually I told her forget everything I'm going to Mex Rent a car since I've always gone through them & have no issues. She kept insisting on trying my card & then the fifth time it finally went through. She's like there we're good & because of the "inconvenience" she insisted on upgrading me at no charge. I said no I'm fine with the car I reserved (Chevy Aveo). She said that's not a good car I'll give you a newer car. This newer car was a Mitsubishi Mirage M3. The car had the maintenance & tire pressure lights on. As soon as we took off, I started to hear these weird horrible noises every time I would stop. It sounded like the car was going to fall apart or die, it was a bucket. The trunk didn't always close either. You had to keep trying multiple times to get it to shut. The driver's side mirror wobbled the entire time making me freak out, hoping that it wouldn't fall off on the road cuz then I'd be responsible for replacing it. It was apparent it was not an upgrade but I couldn't waste anymore time there. I needed to get to my dad's house because he's ailing. She knew my situation & location (1hr away). This car had absolutely no power to get onto the freeways. I had this car for 1 day, not even a full 24hrs. I had to take my mom to the airport the next day & dropped that car off. The lady I returned the car to (different building 2 buildings down) was trying to give me a new car, an actual new one. I said "no, I have absolutely zero faith in you guys & I want nothing to do with you guys ever again. I'm going to Mex Rent-A-Car. She understood after a few tries & told me the car I was given was not an upgrade, it's one of the oldest cars they had & that it's not made for freeway driving it's only for around town. So this confirms all of the stuff I said about Ibeth. Per the companies policy I'm supposed to get a 100% refund. We shall see in a few days if it's gone through. I 100% recommend Mex Rent-A-Car because there aren't any issues like this. I booked through Expedia and combined my plane tickets with a Europcar rental car. I chose the cheapest car they had (Renault kwid) and the total for a 6 day rental was around $300 USD with insurance. Upon arrival, during check in, the lady at the counter told me that the insurance I had purchased was just an add-on and that I had to purchase additional insurance or else I would not be allowed to take the car out of the lot. The price of the civil responsibility insurance was $507.00 USD and the total coverage was $879.00 USD. They didn't want to refund my money because I booked through Expedia. I had no choice but to obtain liability coverage with a deposit equal to 10% of the value of the car ($1,000 USD). I ended up paying close to $700.00 USD with a $800.00 USD deposit. Worst car rental experience of my life, I'm not a fan of surprise charges and fees. The email confirmation clearly stated the reservation is pre-paid and nothing is due when picking up car. I arrived at the car rental company and they say my credit card insurance does not work with them and I have to pay what they called a mandatory $400 insurance fee. This more than doubled the price of my car rental, so I refused. I called the number on my reservation email (Mexico area code), no one picked up. Then they gave me an 800 number, called they said they can't do anything with my reservation because I made it on Europcar.com not Europcar Mexico. Then I followed the link to modify reservation or even cancel online and it did not give me any option to do that. Very shady and deceitful and non-transparent. I will not rent from them again, certainly not in Mexico. In the end they charged me 50 Euro late cancellation fee, which is very unfair. We Arrived at counter of Eurocar . Fernando Leon the custemer servive guy at the office said "we don't take this insurance". You have to purchase there's. For double the price. Hotwire is a rip off, false alvertisment. If they don't take the insurance, they should not offer it period. Or contract with hotwire. THEY respect the price of the car rental on your receipt but not the 3rd party insurance paid for offered by hotwire right before your checkout. That is total BS. BEWARE of this place! I booked this car through Fox rent a car online. It showed that they were located at the Guadalajara airport. When I arrived I found out that Fox rent a car doesn't exist in Guadalajara and instead they take your booking and transfer it over to Europcar to complete the rental. I have had bad experiences in the past with other rent a car business in Guadalajara before so I areived prepared with proof of full coverage insurance by my visa card for the rental. Upon arrival Europcar began offering a series of their in house insurance packages that turns a $300 car rental into a $850 car rental. I informed them that I was only interested in using my visa card insurance to cover the rental car and that I would be purchasing the Mexico mandated third party insurance listed for $17 a day on the fox rent a car website. They immediately refused to honor the price from Fox because they were Europcar and not Fox, even though they were taking the booking from Fox. They then said it would be $37 a day for the third party insurance and get this......they wanted me to leave a $26,000 american dollar deposit for the total replacement cost of the little Car that I was renting which doesn't have a value close to that. When I said no, they then tried to steer me back to buying their high commission insurance packages once again. I saw the scam clearly and asked to speak to a manager. I informed the manager of their scam and threatened to make a complaint on them through PROFECO (mexican consumer rights group). The manager immediately reduced the credit card hold deposit to $1,000 but would mot honor the $17 third party insurance offered by my original booking. We just came back from a family trip from Guadalajara Mexico & rented a car from Eurocar. Buyer beware!!! PLEASE DO RENT FROM HERE!!! We had already purchased a $200 rental car online plus an add $150. for Liability & Damages for a 9 day trip only to be charged and additional $1630.45 for "insurance " as they call it. We should have known that something was strange with all of the mosquitos in the office. Online showed new cars at a $5 to $9 dollar a day prices for newer vehicles. That is how will got tricked & wheeled in. Once we arrived the vehicles were older and the tires were bold & the seats had stains in them. Very poor customer service. No one ever gave us documents about the deposit for the rental. They charged us $1600.00 for deposit without ever notifying us about a deposit amount. When I called to asked about the charge they were very rude and pretty much told me to deal with it and they would do nothing about it not even explain why I got charged such a big deposit. I booked through Expedia and bundled my plane tickets with a rental car from Europcar. I chose the cheapest car they had (Renault kwid) and the total for a 6 day rental came out to around $300 USD with insurance. Upon arrival, during check in, the lady at the desk told me that the insurance I had purchased was only an add on and that I had to purchase additional insurance or else I would not be allowed to drive the car off the lot. The price of insurance for liability was $550.00 USD and for full coverage it was $879.00 USD. They didn't want to refund my money because I booked through Expedia. I had no choice but to get the liability coverage with a deposit equal to 10% of the cars value ($1,000 USD). I ended up paying close to $900.00 USD with a $1,000.00 USD deposit. If that wasn't the worst part, they tried to charge me for multiple dings and scratches that the car already had. They claimed to have taken pictures before they gave me the car and that they didn't spot any scratches or blemishes. Luckily, I had taken a video and pictures of the car before the rental to prove that those scratches and blemishes were already there. Worst car rental experience of my life, I am not a fan of surprise charges and fees. read more

Just recently rented a car from eurocar and put 769dls as a deposit for the insurance that only covers 10% of the 100% but was told that money would be put back in my bank when the rental was completed but after waiting about 4days they only deposited 650dls...not a good company to deal with and now I'm fighting to get my money back...if I could I would give them 0 stars... read more

Scammers. We arrived at our family's home the first night and the next morning found a couple drops of oil in their driveway. We monitored the oil level in the car and the light never came on in the dashboard. We checked the oil daily and it didn't change on the dipstick at all, even after a week of use. When we return the vehicle I thought I was doing the right thing by letting the attendant know about the oil leak. instead they turned it against us and claimed we had caused damage underneath the vehicle which led to the oil leak. I showed the manager the oil stains in their own parking lot where the car had been parked and they still insisted it was us who did the damage. Our credit card was charged without our permission and I'm still fighting with the credit card about it. I believe they scam people like this all the time because when the manager walked away the mechanic whispered to me that I should just let the insurance cover it. NEVER RENT FROM EUROPCAR! read more

This car rental place has the most incompetent service. We reserved a VW Vento and we got a Renault Duster. Maybe an hour after we got the car we noticed there was a nail in one of the front tires; which explains why the car wasn't driving well. The AC of the car never worked to its full potential even though the car was a 2012... LASTLY AND MOST IMPORTANT: when we returned the car, the rental agent told us very matter of fact that we had scratch the front of the car (by hitting a green car) and had painted over it with a roller! What a disrespectful experience! They wanted to charge us most of the deposit we left, which was 10% of the car (15000 pesos in our case). Definitely will not be using Europcar again. Do not go to this place made reservation thru car rental and purchased insurance coverage with my reservation alliance insurance when I arrived to Europcar they said that the insurance policy I bought on line it's not valid in Mexico they wanted to sell me there own insurance policy also they did not respect my reservation price they wanted to charge me 315 dollars more and on top of that they wanted to charge 30000 pesos deposit .. do not go to this place they will try to rip you off . deposit in Mexico it's about 1500 pesos not 30.000 read more

A bunch of crooks at Europcar in Guadalajara, Mexico. Everything was already paid for in advance and upon arrival. They 1st stated our reservation was cancelled and no other cars available. Upon asking for cancellation paperwork so we could get a refund from our credit card, our reservation miraculously reappeared. Then we were told our pre-purchased insurance is not valid. So we either had to buy their insurance that would only cover 80% and had to leave a $1000-$2000 advance deposit. If we refused insurance, we had to leave a $8000-$9000 deposit, which they actually attempted to charge. Luckily our credit card is set up to refuse large amount charges. For the price we might as well buy a car. Now I'm fighting to get our money back. I've heard from others, similar stories. Never again will I go through this company. It was our first and last time. Luckily we met someone who for a fee, gave us a ride to our destination. I would definitely recommend not using this company. The lady behind the counter was rude and apparently annoyed that we didn't agree to the charges. She even walked away once and left us standing at the counter without saying a word.
