Amazing experience I have to share. We're also in the eyecare business offering medical and surgical specialty eyecare services. We had a job gone wrong (third party lab damaged the Patient Owned Frames). The usual standard operating procedure would be to ask the patient to purchase new frames or cancel the lab orders. I had a long shot idea. I reached out to the frame's creator, European Optical, seeking their expertise. From the moment I called, Debbie, the staff on the phone was professional and helpful. "Don't let the lab do the repair, send the frames to us and we'll see what we can do." I have been purchasing my eyeglasses from European Optical for the past 6 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Their staff is fantastic. Most recently I worked with Dawn and the owner Astrid - none finer. Everyone there is patient, professional and by all means they want each client to be "excited" with their purchase. Very low key - never any pressure to buy. They are at the pinnacle in their profession & their customers come first - without question. Look at all of the other reviews, every single review is a glowing 5 Star. When I grab a handful of glasses & try them on and ask one of their staff - "what do you think & why" they are totally honest. And I need & appreciate that honesty. European Optical has the most complete line of truly quality frames, a top laboratory technician and thoughtful, professional fitting. I travel an hour from North San Diego to get this level of quality. After considering a variety of options, I chose a pair of JF Rey progressive transition lenses. I'm very picky about lenses and these were made perfectly for distance, home, and occasional reading. These are the best glasses I have ever had. (If you study progressive options you will see there is a trade-off between a wider viewing area and a larger reading area. I use computer glasses for my computer and reading glasses for extensive reading.) The frames you will find here are chosen to represent the best artistic ability in the industry. Don't be fooled by the chain with the famous logo placed on cheap Chinese frames. European Optical staff gave me options from bold to stylish. I chose stylish which also had a perfect viewing area for my prescription. They are light weight. I'll be back to shop for other glasses when I have different needs. What's the right frame for a tradeshow or concert? Yet to be seen. [For years I stuck with that large chain that is buying up production to throttle the industry. It didn't matter what I spent. Unavoidable collaboration between the Exam and Lenses made it hard to get professional outcomes.] Do yourself a favor and use a vendor like this that is dedicated to staying in one job and industry for life. This shop is great and all of the associates are very helpful and kind and especially patient (nice for people like me who like to explore and take their time). I discovered the shop after asking a local where he bought his very cool glasses. He informed me that they were EO by Astrid, designed by a local eyeglass designer, Astrid, and could be found at European Optical in town. Upon finding this out, I checked out the shop... I was amazed by the variety of eyeglasses, but more so by the EO by Astrid collection. I explored through each unique pair for about two hours until I found the ones for me. Randi, Astrid, and Mario offered me plenty of time to find them with no pressure that you may feel at other shops. Astrid reassured me to sleep on my decision and that they would keep the pair aside for me when I wanted to purchase them. I came back from a business trip a week later and there they were, set aside for me. Woohoo! Let's do this! I ordered transition lenses with an anti glare coating and scratch resistant protection. Needless to say, I am in love with my glasses and I am so happy I found this shop. I never write reviews, so please know they must be really special. I am an orthopedic surgeon in Las Vegas. I spent the weekend in Laguna and wandered into this shop. I happen to be a glasses fanatic and own over 75 pairs. Upon seeing their inventory, I immediately fell in love with multiple pairs. Their product is actually absolutely amazing including having JMM's. But most importantly is their service. I don't know the name of the two people that took care of me, but they were absolutely incredible. knowing I was going to Italy to lecture in 4 days. They literally got my progressive prescription done and UPS'd to me within Two days. They were 100% honest, ethical, and completely customer service oriented. A contact commercial years ago summed it up for me quite succinctly. "I have special eyes!" "Special" in this case means I have REALLY bad eyesight, nearsightedness so extreme, I can quite literally only see things 3 inches in front of my face. So bad, in fact, my prescription isn't the sort of prescription opticians have on hand. So, when I lost my only pair of glasses in the ocean on the first day of my daughter's first vacation ever, I was a complete wreck. In know that even in the best case scenario, it would take several days to get any sort of real replacement. In the desperate flurry of calls that came, someone recommended European Optical to my family and I. They had a wider range of prescription lenses than most, we were told. Even then, I was just hoping -5.50 lenses for my -7.25/-7.50 eyes and I thought "I'll be grateful if I can at least see WHO I'm talking to" but knew better than to expect/hope for more than that. There are some fairy godmothers/guardian angels working at this store. Not only did they help me find some AMAZING new frames which suit me better than the ones I lost (seriously, I have never loved glasses frames this much before), but they also managed to dig up -7.00 lenses from somewhere in the back. They treated me with compassion and understanding. Turning one of my more traumatic life experiences into something unexpectedly magical and memorable. Outstanding. I love the Matisse frames (hand painted, very colorful, unique) that I can only find here. Their service is optimal, which, to me, means that they'll let you look around without hovering and give plenty of time to try on as many frames as you need to. When I've needed help, I've never had to wait. There is no hard sell. They are very kind. In May 2015 I'd recently had a family upheaval and was also feeling shaky after a bout of strep throat. My sister persuaded me to go with her to get new frames. I chose new ones, but when I picked them up I realized I'd ordered them much too large for comfy constant use. $600 down the drain, I figured, which is more than I can afford. Two weeks ago I returned after saving up the funds again. The pair I chose (sanely, this time) is perfect. When I mentioned that I'd never been able to wear the pair from May, they instantly offered to switch that pair to RX sunglasses at no charge. I had an exceptional customer service experience with Liz and Astrid. On a pop-in visit, I found a sunglass style that I liked but the display frame was narrow fit and the lens color not to my taste. Staff offered to contact their distributor and attempt to locate a wider "universal" fit in the same style and proposed replacing the fashion-grade lenses with optical-grade polarized glass. Not only did they locate the frame set on the next business day, they were able to obtain them and change out the factory lenses with upgraded ones for a total price that was 25% less than MSRP on the original. They mailed the finished glasses to me less than a week after I stopped in and I simply could not be happier with the product and European Optical. Very highly recommended. read more

Don't miss this place!!! Don't be fooled and think that because it's in Laguna Beach that it's too pricey!!!! that is not the case. I stopped in here months ago to have glasses repaired-while I was here Astrid told me that my frustrations about my trifocal glasses were due to the fact that the lens was too small. so here I am today-needing all new glasses and instead of it wing difficult-it was so easy--Astrid picked out all of the frames and they are PERFECT!!!!!! I have been trying on frames for weeks and couldn't get the right fit --it took her 3 minutes. She also suggested that I get a specific pair for sailing so that I can have the appropriate protection--I don't like spending $$--I have no problem with the check I wrote. So I am house sitting for my sister out here in Laguna Beach. I was driving around town and all of a sudden my sunglasses lens popped out and I could not find the screw anywhere. Since I am not from this area I searched a glasses repair center and found this little place here on yelp. All of the other reviews are 100% correct! This place is amazing. I walked in explained what happened and she put in a new screw, put some serum on it, AND cleaned my lenses FREE of charge.
