AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Owner is rude and very impatient. Cute building but don't be fooled by it

I spoke with the owner on the phone when I had learned online that this establishment sold Modo frames. He seemed unfriendly and suspicious of my inquiry. He left me to believe that he does not sell to the public. Although he had about 10 Modo frames in stock, he suggested I go to an optometry office in Dana Point. He said he needed to get off the phone because people are waiting with credit cards in their hands.I am not sure what kind of optometry office this is, but I would be wary of doing business with this guy. read more

Eye to eye is a private optical shop. To put it very bluntly, the owner only grants appointments to people who can afford it. If you are lucky enough to secure a time slot you will leave with one-of-a-kind eye glasses that truly fit your face and personality. You can expect to spend several hours at the shop and try on about a million pairs of eyeglasses but you will leave very satisfied with your selection. In addition to eye glasses, Eye to Eye also sells accessories such as handbags, wallets, and jewelry. This is my second time buying glasses here and it was even more fun than the last time. Marty is a great conversationalist--witty, intelligent and substantive banter. I would go there just for that ... But the real reason to go is the incredible selection of super high quality, stylish frames and Marty's impeccable taste. And he will give it to you straight. You may come with a preconceived notion of what frames you want, but they may be all wrong for you, and if so, he will tell you. He takes what he does seriously and he knows not only the latest in fashion but also the best, classiest. He will steer you away from something passé that doesn't look right for you. But... You really need a referral to come here. He doesn't open his doors to just anyone. And be ready to spend some serious dough, his amazing service and skills font come cheap. In fact you will need references to be accepted as a client. But if you can afford it, and you know someone, it is more than worth it. It's so worth it that I drive the hundred miles each way gladly when I need new frames and/or lenses. Oh yeah, the lenses: he knows how to get you the absolute top of the line lenses too, so it's not all just about frames. I just called this from yelp thinking it was an eye glass business. The person that answered the phone was extremely rude and unhelpful. I don't think they are a retail eye glass business. Regardless, I would not give them my business based on their lack of customer service whatever their business is. read more

For the "unexperienced" private optical shopper, this would be a cold slap in the face; however, the owner is just a bitingly witty, sharp tongued meanie with a magical talent of being able to look at your face and choose from hundreds of frames to get the perfect look. Frames you wouldn't dream of even trying, he will insist and you can't believe how fabulous they look on you, even if he doesn't deserve to be told so. ("Oh look how cute you are with your first communion pearls on...sneer sneer...") He knows his stuff and completely changes your look. if you don't want the answer, don't ask the question. Where do You start, there really is no better than Marty and his eye for, well..... eyewear and how it fits Your face, personality & style. It's obvious Marty has honed his expertise through decades of experience and unmatched insight, he has obviously worked very hard traveling the world building a name for himself, not to mention Marty has built what has to be the most uniques eyeglass boutique anywhere. Marty is not only a master of the technical aspects of quality eyewear but has an unmatched understanding of the psychological and fashion side of eyewear, fashion in general actually, as well, and applies that understanding to match eyewear to the individual that is in a league of its own. You need an appointment with Marty and You need to be referred by a current customer to get an appointment, so I consider myself very fortunate, Thanks to my girlfriend, to have been introduced to and spent some time with Marty, he really is one of a kind and provides a one of a kind experience. I came away with money very well spent on a couple pair of amazing sunglasses. To describe the experience with Marty, stating it mildly, this isn't Sunglass Hut in the mall, this is not a "discount shop" You will not have Your ass kissed, if You can't take direct and frank honesty in an effort to get an amazing end result for Your eyes, face, style & personality, well, don't waste Your time or Marty's, let him do what he does better than everyone.
