This business has very poor communication skills. As a business owner myself, I would be ashamed of the poor communication with clients. We booked a service online, it was not until we arrived that they very quickly told us they couldn't provide that service but they could do "eye brows instead." Loved Jordan at this site for most of 2023. Last Friday, I was called at 10:17 am to confirm my 1:00 appointment w Jordan. When I appeared for my 1:00 appointment, I was told that Jordan was off for the day. I asked how this was possible since I got a call confirming my appt with her that morning. They said they didn't know how that happened and did I want to reschedule. They said I must not have been informed since I opted out of texts (despite the fact that I had been called by EWC previously when Jordan was ill and absent). There was literally no apology or I'm sorry that happened to you response from the counter person. So I asked to speak to the manager. When the blonde woman came out, she said - What do you need? I informed her and she also failed to apologize or express remorse that I had that experience. So much so that I pointed out that I was informing her so it didn't happen to other EWC clients. She said she knew that. I left and was so put out by their "Sucks to be you" response, that I re-entered and cancelled my pre-paid year, which the manager did. read more

This was my first time ever getting waxed and I went with a friend. Her experience with her esthetician was great, mine not so much. We both agreed that the front desk staff were standoffish, and my esthetician, Molly, did not speak to me at all except when I asked a question. It's a good thing I'm pretty assertive and had questions ready, otherwise I would've felt unsatisfied. The service was free because it was my first visit so no complaints there, but definitely will not be going again. The whole vibe of the place was not welcoming, which is a shame. Really wanted to feel welcomed during this experience, but will have to find an different place for that. read more

Went in for a Brazilian and eyebrow wax to prep for vacation. Eyebrows were fine (besides the waxer getting wax in the hair on my head). Brazilian was terrible. Before we even started, my waxer said that the hair was too short. I had no idea how much it needed to be grown out. I would have understood if she couldn't do the wax. However, she offered to do a bikini line instead (not sure how this would've worked if the hair wasn't long enough) and i agreed. Bad idea. It was painful, which I expected, but i was left with extreme irritation and bleeding that seemed beyond normal, and there was also a significant amount of wax left over that i didn't notice at first. very inconvenient and uncomfortable to remove on my own. several hours later, i'm still very irritated and it's painful. she was also making interesting and unprofessional remarks about other clients. terrible experience. would've rather just not have gotten waxed than experience the discomfort i'm having now. pretty sad they're just trying to make a few bucks. read more

I'll start off with the good although it does not outweigh the bad at EWC in Lansing... The staff was professional and nice, the facility was clean and welcoming, and the booking service online was super efficient. Now onto the unfortunate negative... I have been getting Brazilian waxes regularly for over a year at a local place in Lansing but in May 2018, I decided to try EWC after my normal lady was booked at the other place. I booked an appointment for a Brazilian but noted that I wasn't sure if my hair was long enough, they called to let me know that they would be more than happy to take a look and if they couldn't wax it then they would not charge me. Appointment time. I go back to the room and the wax technician (Kylie) said my hair was too short but wanted to give me a free bikini wax - which I found out later was complimentary as a first time client. I have been waxed over 20 times and never swelled and welted as much as I did after this bikini wax. At first I was thinking maybe the wax had a different ingredient that my skin was not used to and it was a short term reaction. 3 days pass. 6 days pass. I'm still welted and now covered in, what looks like, ingrown hairs. I have been burned once in the past, so I know that what happened to me at EWC was not a burn situation. But maybe an undereducated wax technician? Why would she not want to wax me for a Brazilian but instead a bikini wax if the hair wasn't long enough? Maybe I had these bumps from the hair being too short? I'm not sure. I called to let the manager know and asked some questions, just so it doesn't happen to someone else and they offered an ingrown hair serum for free but that didn't help. It is now July 2018 and after having smooth skin and minimal irritation down there my whole life whether I wax or shave, I'm left with permanent scarring of large red lesions from whatever did this to me. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone after my experience here. I wish I could rate it less than one star. read more

I have now had two brazilians (and underarm/legs/face) at European Wax Center in Lansing, and after my first one I loved the results but was unsure I could handle the pain. However, I had my second wax with Josephine and she is the most gentle, friendly, easy going waxer I have ever had. She gets every hair efficiently and quickly, with minimal pain. I would hold my breath as she she prepared to pull and wait and wait for the pain which never came.. finally after the first brazillian strip I said "is it over?" She said, "girl its been over!" I couldn't believe it. She did not tweeze much bc she was so good with the wax, when she did tweeze she pulled quickly and calmly, talked me through and made the whole experience amazing. I cant believe how smoothly this went (no pun intended). Josephine is AMAZING; IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND ARE SCARED/UNSURE/HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE, GO. YOU WILL NOT REGRET THIS DECISION. I PROMISE. P.S. Arianna is a guest/customer service liason and she is kind, compassionate, patient, and is totally real with you. She is incredible as well. Victoria is also incredibly helpful if you ever call in. You are in very very good hands. Again, if you are unsure and doing frantic google searching about body or bikini wax-take this as a sign. Go. First time eyebrow wax is Free for new clients! By appointment only EWC uses whats called hard wax. No wax strip is needed and it sticks to hair Only. Not much to the skin. Its a little bit less painful but not by too much. The girl that waxed my eyebrows seemed like she knew what she was doing. She was very professional and polite. She was very detailed when she did her job. She missed a few hairs in the middle so she went back in to grab them. Id rather her do too less than too much. The place was clean. Interestingly enough the hard wax they use here so far seems to not agree with my skin... Im actually super baffled by this because I have been getting my eyebrows done 1x per mo since around the age of 13.. over ten years. Ive been to so many different salons and whatnot and I've never seen this strip-less wax.. I used to have kinda sensitive skin years ago in middle school and a little into high school and as my skin has matured I guess its grown out of it?? Or has gotten used to it? It blows my mind that a gentler wax could produce such a reaction. They use all natural ingredients too. I was super excited for this, now I'm a little unsure. Maybe the reaction wont last long. The girl also filled in my eyebrows using a pencil. Ive never had anyone fill in my eyebrows. The price to come back is I think around $20!! The highest Ive heard actually.. Ive been getting my eyebrows done for years and I've never heard a price this high. I do know at ulta they do your eyebrows I believe its $18 or something like this but they also do your makeup too I guess for the higher priced wax and with them doing your makeup that makes sense but that does not include gratuity! Im really in between with this review. Id give it a 3.5 if I could. Im not sure if I will be back due to the reaction on my skin. I would recommend this if you wanted to try it out they have wax packages that can save you some money or maybe If you dont know how to fill in your eyebrows this would be a good value or if you have had bad reactions to the other wax trying something new might help you out Okayy update!! The technician was professional, friendly, and talked me through post waxing care. She made me feel comfortable, and I will definitely be going back. I've heard horror stories about Brazilians, but the combination of their comfort wax and carefulness really made it as painless as possible. I have a low pain tolerance, and I could do it. I had my first wax at EWC today - a full leg and full bikini. The bikini was great, my esthetician kept me distracted the whole time and was very quick, which I appreciated. But I think she was over booked and rushed on my legs. I had multiple large sections of hair left on my thighs when I was done. She mentioned being the only esthetician working today, so I'm sure she was busy. I'm disappointed in the results on my thighs and wish the leg wax was more thorough. read more

I have had 2 Brazilian waxes now, with Chelsea and Kylie, and both were beyond friendly and professional and very helpful. They put a lot of care into their work and make you feel very comfortable. Kylie made sure to touch up any areas and both Chelsea and Kylie took the time to talk to me about skin care/hair care tips. Both experiences were quick and *relatively* painless, as much as can be expected. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I was able to call and reschedule an appointment originally a week away to the same day, and not only that, I arrived early and was able to be seen within minutes! Couldn't ask for better care. I've been going to European wax salons for close to a year now and it's amazing. I've tried out multiple waxers and everyone's always really nice and professional. I get a full Brazilian, I've tried lip and eye brow waxes as well. Today I had Josephine for the first time and I'll definitely be using her from now on she was wonderful. Really nice, gentle and made the what can be painful process as painless as possible. They have plenty of options for Appoitment times and plenty of waxers so I never have an issue getting in or altering my appointment date if needed. I've been here twice, both times a little disappointed. The waxers only have 15 minutes to wax you and the entire thing was extremely rushed. I'm 6 months pregnant so it's a little difficult for me to groom myself but after getting a Brazilian both times, there hair left over. I've grown my hair out to the appropriate length and my waxer rushed through my appointment. If I'm paying $60+ for a Brazilian was, it better be good quality and I should get getting what I paid for. I've left both times with hair left over and feeling embarrassed and disappointed because my waxer rushed and did not remove all of the hair. I will not be coming back. I'm sure I can find a place that will actually give me what I pay for. read more

Lydia is amazing! I had a horrible previous experience at a different waxer and it was overly painful and left me irritated and sore for a few days and she missed quite a bit of hair which looked horrible and made me self conscious. Lydia left me smooth with minor irritation (no fault of hers my skin is just sensitive). The building is classy and modern and no matter what youre spending you get treated with celebrity status.
