Welp, this place is now on my no-go list. My last massage was by a man who talked & talked the entire time and I left feeling like I'd been lectured. Today, after booking a 'deep tissue' massage, the therapist basically just gave me very expediently moisturized skin. Almost no pressure! After I'd prompted her twice. : / Then, I had to tell her to slow down and actually *press* into the muscles. Very disappointed. I really wanted to support this local place. Perfect for all students who are sitting in front of a computer all day or just having a lot of stress! I just had the best massage of my life here! I told Alan I had been having a lot of tension in my upper back, shoulders, and neck and he was able to isolate and manipulate all of the muscles! I have been going here for a long time, and am always happy with the service. Everyone is always friendly, the prices are fair, they have online scheduling, and the therapists I have had are almost always good, if not very good. The parking is validated, the building while older is cozy, and my favorite part: you can often schedule online the same day. This place definitely doesn't have as many stars as it deserves, as there aren't many reviews and one of the reviewers had a bad experience. This place does everything well so I don't have any real complaints. The closest I can come is that I would like it if they had a frequent customer deal or let you purchase several massages at once for a discount. read more

My mom and I were very impressed with after our experience here. Both of us got full body massages. Our massage therapists Bethany and Alan were excellent and attentive and repeatedly asked whether the pressure was right etc. We felt extremely comfortable . What a WONDERFUL experience. Alan knew what he was doing, checked in regularly as to appropriateness of pressure, and kept quiet when he realized I merely wanted to lay there and relax. There's a new massage therapist in town and she is amazing! Jessica Reeves, at Massage and Wellness, gave one of the best massages I have had in years. I have struggled to find someone who could replace Heather, my favorite massage therapist of 20 years who moved out of state several years ago. I have finally found her match right here in E. Lansing! Jessica is very responsive and intuitive, seeming to sense right where my tension and tight muscles are, and expertly working out the knots. I tend to like deeper tissue work, and Jessica is able to use techniques and abilities to get my muscle tension to release in a way that I have rarely experienced. If you're not into deep tissue massage, just say so. She also uses gentle and soothing techniques when that is preferred and is well versed in therapeutic relaxation techniques. I found myself wishing I had booked a 90-minute massage, rather than just an hour. She was phenomenal! read more

I have had nothing but very good experiences with Massage and Wellness. After my siblings and I purchased a few massages from Massage and Wellness for our mom for different holidays (always her suggestion), and after my first massage at a different place was particularly scarring, I hesitantly let my mom make a massage appointment for me here for my birthday. If it's good enough for her, it should be good enough for me. I'm so glad I did. Since I'm currently living in Chicago, I've only been able to have two massages at Massage and Wellness, but both were wonderfully relaxing experiences. My first massage therapist was Jacqui, who had been forewarned by my mom about my only massage experience. I could tell that Jacqui did everything she could to make sure that I felt comfortable, and was very open to my requests and preferences. This was VERY much appreciated, and helped me feel more comfortable with the idea of getting a massage. The music was very soothing and comforting, the massage bed was warm and comfortable, and I felt like melted butter afterwards :) My second massage therapist was Alan. Alan also was very welcoming, understanding, and open to my requests and preferences. This experience was also very nice and relaxing, and his accommodations were very much appreciated, as the appointment was made at the last minute and was very much needed. I would recommend Massage and Wellness to anyone, especially anyone who has had a bad massage experience elsewhere, or who is self-conscious about their body. I fit into both categories and was so well taken care of by the massage therapists here. I can guarantee that there will be more gift certificates for mom, and I will be back as well :) read more
