I just got back from my 4th trip with Eurynome Journeys. It is truly a unique company. I appreciate the all-women small groups, great value in the accomodations, discovering the history and culture of unique places, including women's history that has often been left out of the story. The owner of this small travel company goes on every trip. She's been doing this work for 25 years and seems to know everyone; the local guides, the restaurant owners, the drivers, and excursion operators. It is evident that she cares deeply about everyone having a positive experience. And she takes care of all the details. Even though we stayed busy with visiting ancient ruins, museums, shopping, dining, and touring small hill towns, I found the experience to be relaxing because I knew all the details were taken care of. read more

I have done a lot of traveling, either large tours (20+) or just a friend and myself. This was my first solo. It was fantastic and I would do it again anywhere Eurynome Journeys decided to travel. Our tour was named "In Search of Grace O'Malley, the Pirate Queen." I didn't know who Grace was or her significance in Irish History when I signed on. Erja, owner and tour director, enlisted experts to guide us on our journey to discovering who Grace O'Malley was, and into the discovery of this misty, magical place called Ireland. All guides delivered their information with exemplary knowledge and humor which made everything more fun. The B&Bs and hotels we stayed at were first class. On Clare Island I had a perfect ocean view and a view of an ancient ruin. The food was more, much more than I had expected. Erja took us to fantastic restaurants. I do a lot of traveling and prefer doing small groups. I don't really care if they are all women groups or coed groups as long as the itinerary sounds appealing and the destination is on my bucket list. Touring the islands of Greece has long been on my list. My friend recommended this tour group and I arranged six friends to join me on this vacation. I decided it would be for my daughters college graduation and we had the most wonderful time. Our tour leader, Erja, was so well-known on the islands by all of the hotel operators that we stayed at and she was also personally known by the proprietors of the restaurants that we went to. She included many group dinners and took care of ordering so many foods that I would have never tried otherwise. She stayed true to her daily itinerary and the timelines were spot on. Attention to detail was perfect. I would definitely recommend her to all of my friends and travel with her again. I just traveled to Ireland with Eurynome, Erja, is the creator and travel guide. Her attention to details, ie, lodging, transportation, and the most interesting experts she engages to personally spend each day enlightening us with information along with such pleasant Irish humor. I've been on two trips with Eurynome Journeys and would recommend them without hesitation. The number of participants on each trip is limited so you receive personalized attention, and have the opportunity to really get to know your fellow travelers. When you book a tour your primary interaction is with the company's owner, Erja, an incredible woman who also accompanies every tour. She is quite knowledgeable about the countries visited but also partners with a local guide and between the two of them you learn quite a bit. In fact, prior to departure you receive a "recommended reading" list, so that if you're interested in doing so you can learn more about the country. Because of the small size of the group there is an opportunity for more in-depth discussion of the sites you're visiting, and you can always get any questions you might have answered by the tour guides. There also always seems to be opportunities to chat with the locals, something I really appreciate. Another thing I like about these tours is that they always arrange an activity personalized to the location you're visited. In Egypt this meant a belly-dancing lesson from a local instructor. In Malta, we visited a local winery for a wine-tasting and hands-on lesson in cheese-making. Prior to discovering Eurynome Journeys I had always traveled alone and shuddered at the idea of a "group tour", a term that for me conjured images of big buses with crowds of people straining to hear their guide. Eurynome Journeys offers the antithesis of that idea of a group tour. Indeed, as our small group wandered down the streets in Malta having a casual conversation with our guide, I'm not sure anyone would have even known we were on a "group tour", but rather might have mistaken us for a group of friends out for a stroll. And, I have kept in touch with several of the women I met on my trip to Egypt almost 4 years ago. I would also agree with the other reviewer that the choice of hotels and restaurants is impressive. When you're away from home you want to be comfortable, but also close to the sites you went to see, and Erja has a knack for picking the exact right places. From conversations with her I know she pays a great deal of attention to finding the best places to stay, and always solicits feedback from travelers to ensure continuous quality. Since I first met her on my trip to Egypt, Erja has also been quite generous with travel advice for trips I have planned on my own without her company. The trips were both well planned, included excellent hotels, and group size is small which allows for a more personalized experienced. Erja and the local guides she partners with are very knowledgeable. She also really goes out of her way to ensure everyone enjoys themselves and that their individual interests or needs are being met. (I love taking pictures, so she would always point out a great shot, while someone else might be a foodie and she can point out the local restaurants not to be missed.) I've traveled by myself and I'm not really a "group travel" person, but I was hesitant to try Egypt on my own and I'm so glad I didn't and went with Eurynome instead.
