Love this airline. Not only do they get you to your destination on time, but they actually seem to consistently get you there early! Staff are courteous and super nice to kiddos, with a choice of toys at the outset of each flight. And the food is pretty darn good for airplane food (at least the Asian options). KLM and Singapore are still our favorites by a hair -- and I should note that we've never flown Emirates, which some people rave about -- but EVA did a fantastic job of transporting us in comfort!

EVA Air has been consistently amazing in its offering. I been flying with EVA for 3+ times already to multiple destinations: Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Beijing, etc. In terms of Food - awesome, the food is tasty, balanced, and generous. In economy mode at least two meals: big (dinner/lunch) that consists of protein + carbs + salad + fruit + bread + butter; and snack (breakfast) that consist of congee + protein (or omelet + protein) + salad + fruit + bread + butter. They also offer other small snacks like chips, ham and cheese breads. And unlimited drinks like orange juice, soda, coffee, water, etc Flight attendant service - great and attentive Movie/TV options - good. Latest and greatest in terms of holliwood and world selections Price - Great, they are cheaper than Cathay and other airlines. And the quality is awesome. Thats why i love them They offer free face mist, body lotion, eye masks, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and ear plugs in the bathroom. WiFi is not free and is available for purchase. Not important for me I will definitely recommend EVA for international travel to South East Asia

We flew EVA air from JFK to Bangkok with a layover in Taipei. There were no issues with the flight and the little interaction I had with the flight crew was pleasant. My only issue is that they made me check my bag. When traveling internationally I pack light so I can keep my bag with me, decreasing the chance of getting lost. The person in front of me coincidentally had the same luggage as me and they let her keep hers for carry on and I had to check mine (mine also weighed less). I guess it's who you talk to at the window. Other than that I would fly EVA again. The food was decent and spaced out in a fashion where I wasn't starving. Also being a tall person I was a tad squished in the seats, but what can you do when flying economy.

I flew EVA airlines from NYC to Taipei and I have to say the service for business class was great. I've flown other times to Asia but via other airlines. EVAs business class surpasses some other big airlines. I love it they have seat covers to put on for sleep time.

Flew EVA from TPE to JFK on Royal Laurel class (equivalent to business class) and I am very pleased with the service. I've flown to Asia multiple times with EVA on economy and thought it pleasant, but I'm certainly very impressed with the business class. Upon departure you have access to their dedicated lounge which is top class. Great shower facilities, plenty of seating, and good selection of food. Entering the flight, a dedicated stewardess introduced herself and addressed me by my name and made the trip very enjoyable by constantly checking in on me for my needs. There were two main meals, one heavier and one lighter. They had a good selection of quality food and alcohols. I enjoyed several glasses of the Krug 2004 Champagne. The reclining chair converted into a bed which was very comfortable to sleep on with the provided soft pajamas, nice pillow, and thick blanket. Upon landing my bags were the first to come out on the carousel. Great experience and would fly again!

When I plan long haul trips, I try hard to book with non US airlines. The only US airline that goes on long haul flights that I can handle is Delta. For domestic, I prefer Southwest, Jetblue and Frontier. The rest are just lacking in pretty much everything. Even thought the states are big in customer service when it comes to restaurants, hotels and theme parks, the airlines are in a different category of non! So when I was planning our trip to Bangkok, I did a lot of research on international airlines. I found EVA air to be one of the cheapest. I had never heard of the airline. I read that it was a budget airline, but that it wasn't really budget in what it delivered. So I felt pretty confident booking with this airline. I was not disappointed. I felt that the airline ran efficiently. The airline industry is difficult from all perspectives. For passengers it's stressful and tiring. For the workers it's the same except they have to deal with the passengers and with a smile! All the EVA employees we came into contact with were polite and spoke good English. The food was ok. Some meals were better than others. However, it was edible and I can't really complain considering it was economy and the high volume of meals that are distributed. The flight attendants were busy the whole time. There is alot to do. I would get frustrated with asking the passengers the same questions over and over, and over. Especially when people don't listen. How frustrating. There were times they seemed flustered, but that is understandable. They were never rude to me. Overall, I would recommend this airline. Long haul travel is difficult no matter how you look at it. Often times you get what you pay for so you would think this airline is cheap, so it stinks. Not true at all. EVA is a good value for the money and makes the experience pleasant.

For a first timer on EVA Airlines, my expectations were set quite low for a so-called budget airline and a 20 hour trip to Hong Kong in economy class (due to connection in Taipei and 2 hour layover). Ok, so if we're talking a direct flight on Cathay being 5 stars, let me say that I was quite impressed with EVA airline's price to quality ratio and give it an enthusiastic 4 stars! I actually found this airline preferable to other connection flight options that I've flown before and were higher in price for my last minute trip (Korean, United, Delta, American) from a seat comfort, in flight entertainment, food, airline lounge, on flight amenity standpoint. Additional tips below... Food: I actually found the food to be quite good for airline food but I think people also have to choose the right things- for example, if you are flying an Asian airline, it stands to reason the Asian dishes are probably going to be the ones they do best- and hey, in case you don't know this- breakfast is never good so never order eggs on a flight because NOBODY does them well. I thought the fish congee they served was pretty decent considering they had large pieces of real codfish in it and side of fish powder was provided should you want to add more flavor. The Asian and American dinner entrees were both pretty good for airline food.) In-flight entertainment: A note about the movies- even the adult films are safe for kids since they dub over the profanity and blur out nudity. It's a bit weird if you're an adult watching but I got over it. Selection of music was good and I got down to their mystery 80's music mix that they put together. Amenities: They provide toothbrushes, eye masks, and ear plugs in the bathroom- and most impressively, they were always fully stocked! Which leads me to my next comment... In-flight staff: They are extremely diligent about keeping the bathrooms clean and stocked. They are also extremely vigilant and notice everything- they have no qualms about telling you to put your seat up or stow your bag in a somewhat militant manner. (Perhaps the fact their uniforms are military green and styled as such also gives this commanding air of authority.) They are not overly smiley but they give the sense that they are not going put up with any nonsense, which made me feel safe. These slim tough ladies looked like they could take any shady character down if it came to it. Isn't safety what everybody wants these days? Airline lounges in Taipei: for those connecting in Taipei, the attention paid to making sure each waiting lounge was interesting to look at and different from each other was astounding. The seats were comfortable and some even had USB charging jacks underneath. So cool! Traveling is not usually a joy, but traveling on EVA made me smile more than a few times. Just watch my cute airline safety video with anime characters that I attached!

I usually take EVA Air to Taiwan and it's not that bad. Economy seats - Sitting in economy in ZONE 5, it can get a little brutal after 5 hours. The seats barely has any cushion left. The seats feel very narrow and leg room is terrible. The plus side is if nobody is seated next to you, you can pull up the arm rest and give yourself more sleeping room. As for the food in economy, it's horrendous!! Now, you're probably thinking why did I say it's not that bad, well here's why. Evergreen Deluxe class (class between economy and business) - If you sat in this class after you experienced sitting in economy, you will notice that there's a big difference in almost everything. It's not quite business class but you definitely know you're not in economy class. The food was pretty decent considering it is airplane food. They had Haagen Dazs ice cream on the menu which kinda took me by surprise. The leg room is quite nice over here and the seats are much more comfortable. The downside is the arm rest in this class does not fold up. Business class - I sat in business class once a long time ago. It was pretty fun but I can't remember much except that they had Super Mario World back then. Flight attendants - Much friendlier and nicer than China Airlines. Verdict - If you wanna fly to Taiwan, fly EVA. It's direct flight now. Back then, it use to stop in Anchorage for a break. Now it flies direct both ways and it's in JFK now, no longer in Newark Airport. What I also noticed a lot each time of my flight, there were a lot of folks from the Philippines that flew EVA and caught a connecting flight at Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan to get to their country.

do not call the 855 phone number posted by a certain "moti v"!. i called that number but i spoke to a scammer. i paid for my ticket with amex and the "agent" told me i have to give them a visa or mastercard and they will charge the same amount to that card and refund me the charge on my amex. i sensed something was wrong so i immediately went on my visa card's phone app and locked my credit card. in the next ew days, i got several charges for several hundred dollars with description of eva airway ticket, delta airlines, american airlines, etc. yelp! please remove the review by "moti v."!!!! read more

Eva is our go to airline to travel to Taiwan. They have daily direct flight from JFK to Taipei, for a considerably decent price. They provide two full meal, multiple small bites and drinks during the flight. They always hand out free puzzle or toy to the kids in the flight. The cabin crew are friendly and helpful. The JFK counter has 4 different lanes, check-in, bag drop, priority and diamond. The staff member at the entrance was bad at his job. He asked us if we were economy and put us in check-in lane, though we had completed check-in via app. After waiting 15 minutes, the line didn't move all, so we switched to the baggage drop lane and completed the drop off in next few minutes. read more

EVA air is based in Taiwan. They offer various international flights over Asia, Europe, North American etc. I have been traveling with EVA air for more than 20 years. Rarely have any issues. They are efficient and promptly on time. I like their on-flight meals and snacks. Delicious and good portions. They usually offer 2 choices of protein on international flights. read more

Once again, check-in is easy and service is excellent. Boarding is quick and a lot more organized . They still board by zone number. Service on the plane was superb. They have enough staff working and they were all very attentive and pleasant. The food were not as good this time. The breakfast ( porridge) was not hot. I got them both ways and on the outbound , the congee was like wet rice and not cooked enough. I noticed that the in - flight attendants did check and clean the toilets more frequently. Probably due to covid19, everyone was wearing a mask all the time. I took the free shuttle provided by third party for Eva air ( from JFK to New Jersey). The service was well organized. They collect registered passengers as soon as you come out of the baggage claim. The van ride was crazy/ rough/ clanky, cuz you fell every bump and seems like the shock absorber is shot. I'm surprised it didn't break down en route to NJ. I'd fly Eva air again in the future. Way better than United airlines. read more

My husband cancelled a fully refunded international ticket on line in December 2022 due to a back injury and applied for refund. We have received the email that the refund was processed and credited to the card. But we have never received the credit. Now is July 2023. Many phone calls to the Eva customer service and ticketing office had made but being disconnected. It is the most frustrating experience we have. We decided never fly Eva again. read more

EVA Air used to be very good. But their service and management became really bad after Covid. 1. Customer service: No one answered any call at all in JFK. There is no instruction telling you no one is picking up the call in this office and direct you to call the office on the west coast. I figured to call the office on the west coast myself but it was super long wait. Hours are limited. So you have any urgent change, you may not be able to find someone to talk to right away. Their excuse is that they have labor shortage. But I have seen business with labor shortage but manage it very well. They even failed to tell people JFK office is close please call the other office xxxxxx. 2. Messing up my meal: I have allergy and I specified gluten free meal when I booked my flight on the website. No one told me it would be problem until 24 hours before my departure time from JFK while I actually already traveled from Charlotte to JFK. The worse part is that when I return JFK from TPE, my gut feeling told me to call them to check my fight and my meal. They told me they didn't see gluten free meal for the return flight. The customer agent insisted it was my fault because I didn't indicate that 48 hrs before they depart from TPE while I told them I marked it on website when i bought the ticket couple weeks ago but no one called me to verify with me. This agent is super rude and blame everything on the customer and not willing to do his best part to try to solve it. 3. Price has gone up very much: So the price has gone up a lot but the quality became so bad. Blaming everything to labor shortage again? when they fail on the little management thing. Managment issues could lead to labor shortage too. I didn't want to spend hours on waiting on the phone and talked to someone who may not care about my bad experience, I told the flight attendant on the return flight. She said someone would give me a call but 6 months passed no one from EVA ever call me. I used to be a loyal customer of EVA but I decided not to waste my time with them. All of the communications are hard and really long wait. I am moving to other airlines. read more

We chose EVA Airways for our daughter's first flight from JFK to TPE and were quite satisfied. Remember to take advantage of the "gate use" stroller option! Food: there's a pretty intense focus on Taiwanese snacks, which are all quite interesting. The meal quality was slightly lower than what I've been used to on Cathay Pacific Premium Economy Class flights, though. It's slight enough to make it lose one star. Service: the air hostesses seem much warmer than the ones on Cathay Pacific, who seem more the "corporate" type. They chatted extensively with my wife, who is from Taoyuan City, but less with me, guess it's my obesity that makes me seem less friendly, haha. Decor: we had a really cool Hello Kitty themed aircraft from TPE to ICN! Hope to recreate that experience for my daughter one day. Timetables were accurate for all the above-mentioned flights. read more

EVA Air surprisingly surpassed my very low expectations on my 20-hour flight to Cebu (with a stop in Taipei). Food - good. Flight attendant service - good. Movie/TV options - good. Price - GOOD. They also have outlets under your seat. And they have face mist, body lotion, eye masks, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and ear plugs in the bathroom. Only thing rounding out the flight would've been WiFi. They have it available for purchase, and for very high prices, too. Not about that life. Otherwise, don't be scared to book with EVA Air. Note - make sure to have the credit card that you booked with, and proof of your returning or onward flight. Otherwise, they will not let you on. read more

This is a review of EVA Air customer service. Today I tried for hours to connect with customer service. The phone numbers listed on their web site all lead to an automated system that won't even put you on hold to talk to an agent; the system just says they are busy, to call back later and hangs up. The system shuts down at 5:30 pm PST even though they have flights departing LAX until 11:00 pm. There is no chat function on their web site and not even an email address for customer service. I wish I had understood how bad EVA Air was before buying a ticket. At this point I would have paid a lot more to go with a carrier that wasn't doing all it could to avoid helping their customers. read more

Someone had to update this info as EVA Airlines is now flying from JFK and not from Newark Airport. For those of you who don't know, EVA is one of Taiwan's main air carriers. Over the years I've flown primarily EVA or China Airlines (the other main Taiwan carrier, and traditionally the nation's flag carrier) back to Taiwan, and I have to say that as the years have gone by, EVA has most certainly eclipsed CA in terms of flight convenience, comfort, and price value. What distinguishes EVA from CA and some other carriers is that they have a so-called "Deluxe Economy" class. It serves as an intermediary from their far more pricey first class or business class seats. Granted those seats are flat-beds and cost a ton, but in the DE class you basically get some of the comforts of traditional business class, like wider seats and a ton of legroom. This is key as a flight to Taiwan will eat up 14 to 17 hours of your life, so if you can afford it, it's worth being comfortable. I always fly DE back home because the price differential between DE and Economy is WAY less than between First/Biz class and DE. But even if you fly economy, I find that EVA's service is better than CA. I also like how they fly direct to Taipei, which is a huge. CA currently flies to Osaka then Taipei, and the departure/arrival times are seriously annoying versus EVA, which leaves late at night in the U.S. and arrives first thing the second morning in Taiwan. It's far easier if you're looking to maximize your time overseas (and here). My flights back home have been for the most part on-time, though the arrivals in NYC have been spotty. Their boarding process is fairly efficient, if you can deal with some of the assholes who try and cut in front of the line at times. The flight attendants are professional and relatively friendly. The duty free selections are decent and it's nice how they have a license with Hello Kitty items/apparel. The food is, well it's airline food. It's not Nobu or Ding Tai Fong. But at least you are fed. The in-flight entertainment options are good. You get plenty of video-on-demand movies at your disposal, many of them are very recent Hollywood releases. You also get a nice list of Chinese, Korean, Japanese films and TV shows as well. The music playlists are good. The games are also fun, but a bit old/basic. I don't really have any complaints other than the fact that the food is kind of dismal for Deluxe Economy. I know I'm not paying business class prices, but I'd still prefer to have something slightly better than Economy level food. They should take a cue from other airlines and consider establishing relationships with notable chefs or restaurants and mix up their food recipes/selections better. Otherwise, if you're looking for a good flying experience to Taiwan, this is a great choice. read more

I booked my ticket with EVA Air from Houston and they informed me that the flight was canceled without further instruction. I called the 800-695-1188 and also a local office in Houston 281-209-0022 but they never answered the phone. I called again and again but only reached the voicemail. I went to the website but they did not have any information for the refund. I do not know what to do now. read more

I'm heading to Macau (near China) and EVA Air was surprisingly easy to navigate at JFK Airport Terminal 1. It's a small intimate terminal and there wasn't much walking. Security was very fast at 10pm although the TSA agents were a little testy. Maybe it was because if was late at night? read more

Tips: if you plan to book a flight and you're not going through a travel agency (they should be able to tell you what to do) try not to book through the EVA air website. The website asks for a ton of information that you will have to fully substantiate when you check in at the airport. For example, if you pay by credit card on the EVA air website, you will have to show them the credit card you used. If you don't have your credit card on you...well they won't let you check in. I personally used the EVA air website to look up dates where the tickets would be cheaper and booked through Expedia. read more

I am currently in the middle of a trip, traveling on this awful airline. My flight was delayed more than an hour causing me to miss the reason why I paid EXTRA for a stop over in Taipei in the first place. When I requested to reschedule via their customer service department, they seemed more than willing to make the change complementary due to the delay. When I got to the airport to check in for my rescheduled flight, I was advised that I had to pay 300+ USD- in order to be allowed on the flight. What a rip-off!! I was FORCED to pay additional fee's in order to avoid being stuck in Taipei airport. Worse experience ever. read more

I flew this airline for the first time 12/24/16 from JFK-TPE. For the most part it is a fine airline. However, there are some issues. 1. If you book your ticket less than three months prior to your departure date they will request all types of information from you including a receipt of purchase. I had to pull out my phone and log into my bank account and show them that I paid for this ticket. It was a real pain and felt like a total invasion of my privacy. 2. I flew economy and it wasn't too bad. The seats were fairly standard. However, the flight attendants were not very friendly with me and I am a very quiet passenger. At first I thought it was because I do not look of full Asian descent (although I am half Taiwanese and half African American) but then I realized it is because my skin is brown. I shrugged it off on the first flight, but on the second flight it happened again. The very same rude dismissive didn't want to help me attitude from the flight attendants. But the Caucasian girl that sat across from me who kept getting up after landing before the seat-belt signs went off they were super nice too and she was rude and disrespectful towards them. It made me feel bad. I wish things were not like that. 3. The food is decent - def nothing to write home about. 4. They do not serve beverages enough on the plane. You have to call over a flight attendant if you want anything and their attitude when you call them over (at least from my experience) was rude. 5. They assume if you look Asian you speak and understand Chinese and if you look like a "foreigner" then you speak and understand English. While it's not a big deal I feel I need to mention it. Overall I say the airline is ok. There are some things that are uncomfortable but nothing that a lot of us have not dealt with having been to Asia. read more

i checked my baggage at JFK for a flight to Bangkok via Taiwan. i don't know where the theft occurred but i complained to Eva Air on their website that 2 suitcases were missing their locks when i picked out my luggage. when i dealt with them they said we take theft very serious. i had 5 pieces of luggage so i told them i will go through my possessions and inform you in another email if anything was missing. i did not hear from them fr 2 weeks so i contacted them asking to replace the locks. their response was- our end noted. my response was -my end noted you lost a customer. they wouldn't even replace the locks. their loss and i hope it's not other travelers also cause they are crooks read more

I have travelled with EVA Air for many years basically since I was a child and have never had a bad experience until today. We got to JFK airport to check in and were early for our flight. We were met with the most unpleasant EVA employee I have ever met. We were trying to figure out what was happening since the EVA Air counter was roped off and wanted to ask someone. One of the airport employees asked me if I was flying with EVA air and I was walking over to him since I couldn't hear him very well and the aforementioned unpleasant guy starts yelling at me to leave the area because the desk won't open for another 10 minutes which was fine but there reality was no need to be rude about it. Then when the desk finally did open, he starts pushing people out of the way and yelling "one at a time in line!" I'm sure the flight itself will be pleasant but it will definitely be ruined the lack of signs indicating when the desk will be opened and by this very rude employee. read more

The second meal service was lacking - it was just small apetizers, no bread or anything - they can do better than this. 6. The service in general was pretty thorough though! 7. The self-service bar area was pretty nice - drinks and fruits on the go. 8. The lavatory looked old - but had the Clairins tonic lotion for use. So, to make the flight experience more dramatic, I didn't get my luggage on time, so they promptly put it on the next flight - and delivered them safely by the evening. They did a great job following up and making sure the bags were tracked and we were updated correctly. I really commend AF for making this process painless.

I'm just going to itemize my concerns and the response from Korean air as follows; - boarded in YVR and was initially pleased with the business class quality, but disappointed that I had to do some cleaning in my cubicle because of food, stains and crumbs on the walls and tray. - the rest of flight proceeded normally with service attentiveness, being lower than other airlines being noted. Thats fine I don't need a lot of attention but I did pay for it... - disembarked in ICN to switch planes and was informed I was being downgraded to economy class. No explanation as to why just pushed to accept it as nothing else was available for days... no other solutions offered. I asked for details but non were given. - boarding the second airplane. I noticed they didn't even have the business class row where my seat would've been located. So obviously swapped with a smaller plane and those in the forward seats got lucky and I didn't. I wasn't even offered business class meals or premium economy or an extra legroom seat just crammed into economy and left to ponder the wisdom of booking Korean Air. - eventually I complained to Korean air and they passed the ball to the booking agent and back-and-forth eventually I was offered about $300 Canadian as a refund which, by my research, doesn't even cover the cost of the downgrade never mind the disappointment and my compressed discs treatment from not having a lie flat seat. - this all happened a month ago and they say they will follow up and they don't. I've asked for a comparison to refund the rest of the trip because I'm afraid it will happen again but they just delay and you don't hear back from them.

Called someone in Detroit to get information about the plane and flight, he gives me another number to call I believe it was in Chicago. I call that number, another person tells me we don't handle this, you have to call another number. Called that number, that person gave me the original Detroit number. I called Detroit back, another person answers and gives me the information I was asking to begin with. Not done yet. I finally check in and get on the plane, plane was gorgeous and flight attendants for most part were very hard working. I need to state this is my first outing (Reservation Telephone Number : 1 (855) 948-3661 ) with This Airlines and I was somewhat anxious however enormously shocked at how effective the whole outing was. Our flights all were in time - really a couple of moments early. Regardless of the COVID limitations and no food or savor administration flight and wearing a veil the whole time....everything else was simple. We had no issues with inconsiderate staff which I have experienced before on different carriers I will fly once more. Things I learned...a standard knapsack will fit under the seat so no compelling reason to pay for a carry on of this size. Paid extra for my gathering of six to sit together one way and afterward figured I would take a risk. Flight home they naturally kept our gathering together and we as a whole had situates together.
