When I called this location my call went to a Call Center in Kentucky. I wanted to talk to the store to find out if the could get my car done today or not. The Call Center misled me into thinking they were at the store and they are NOT! Your Call Center should be more transparent about this. This is a MAJOR ISSUE. Your Call Center assured me that they "will get me in and out" with brakes, an oil change, and four new tires at 4 pm, and to "come right in", and "I have a 4 pm appt for you". LIES!! I walked into the store and they were slammed.. Simón said that there was no 4 pm appt for me, but he would take good care of me anyways. I raised my voice at him, "I just talked to you!" "You said 'in & out'". He calmly said he did not talk to me, but will take good care of me. I calmed myself. I was so angry. He said he would NEVER make a 4 pm appt for someone who needed brakes, 4 tires, and an oil change, when they close at 5 pm. It all made perfect sense. Simón offered to get my tires and oil change started, but offered to inspect my car to see if I even needed brakes. I agreed. It turned out my back brakes were at 6 mm and my fronts were 4 mm, so I still had time to change them. They squeezed me in even though they had cars they were trying to get out of the shop. EXCELLENT management by these guys to fix the predicament their "Call Center" had suckered me into. Evan's Tire & Service in Lemon Grove is a super place with super employees! They gave me a great price, and I was out of there at 5 pm. You need to fix your Call Center though- these stores are welcoming angry customers like me, because they are being lied to. BEWARE. We bought tires a year ago. The tires didn't last, so we went back, and they didn't want to honor the warranty, claiming that the tires were the wrong ones for that car, when they were the ones that recommended those tires. The manager, named Christian Sagarnaga, called his boss, Paul, and I received a call from him and was told that they would honor the warranty but only this time, and if something went wrong with the tires or if they didn't last, I had to pay a pro rate of ten percent of the tire, and I would have to pay for labor. We went back to Evans, and now the manager is saying that the pro rate will be 30 percent. They did replace the tires this time, but won't honor the warranty. I told them that I didn't choose those tires. Your employee recommended those tires, and the answer was, he doesn't work here anymore, and we are very sorry that he did that. That employee was representing Evans Tires at that time, and they should honor the warranty. I will report them to the BBB. read more

Went in for an alignment and had to go back THREE times after the original appointment because my car felt WORSE than when I brought it in. Every time I brought it back they would tell me " idk what happened from the time we aligned it to now but it's all fixed ". Mind you , each time I went back was either a few hours or a day after max. I ended up having to take it to the dealership and getting an alignment from them because I was annoyed and didnt want to waste my time having to keep going back ! Received a call from main district office ,which handed me over to San Diego district office, which handed me over to the store manager. Just to try to convince me that the car is dangerous and they are correct in their assessment . Even thought the car stops fine and brake pads are basically NEW and booster is working perfectly. Recommendation if this happens to you inform the BAR. Bureau of automotive Repairs, Taking advantage of seniors or anybody should not be tolerated. read more

I took my Dodge in for a break inspection. My husband passed last year & I now drive his SUV. The breaks felt a little softer than my Buick sedan. So just to be safe I took it in. They told me I needed brake pads and a brake booster over $1000 in repairs. I asked them to give me the percentage of pad wear. I didn't notice until I got home but they wrote a complaint that I did not give them. PLUS they never filled in the brake pad % area. I got a second opinion by another mechanic and was told the brakes look almost new maybe 10% used. I will report them to the BAR and allow them to re-inspect my SUV to confirm what I am saying. read more

I can't speak necessarily for the current management of this business but several years ago I went there for a four-wheel alignment. It was supposedly guaranteed for a year. It was not done well, as the car pulled towards the driver's side almost immediately, but I let that slide. However, when my tires began to wear unevenly, I took it back to Evans for warranty service. I arrived before they opened, hoping to get in and out quickly and miss as little of my workday as possible. They knew that I was waiting but took customer after customer ahead of me--who were new and didn't have appointments. I was getting really upset, as not being at work was costing me $25 per hour. Three hours I waited only to be told that their alignment guy had to leave due to a family emergency. Those cheap bastards cost me $75 of work time and turned me away even after that, having already gotten my money when I paid for a "guaranteed four wheel alignment"! Nonetheless, I gave the chain one more chance by going to the one in La Mesa. The manager was very nice and attentive to my needs. I figured that I might make him my tire guy after all. However, the next time I went to see him, I was informed that he'd been let go for not selling enough product. That ripped it. Evans Tire is on my permanent shit list. I'll never go back to them and I wish that they'd stop sending me junk mail. read more

I am so mad right now! TLDR: Evans is a ripoff and overcharged me on parts by $795. My AC stopped blowing cold air over the weekend, so I took it into Evans today. I got there about 10 minutes before it opened, but Carlo, the store manager, was there and he helped me right away, which I appreciated. He let me know that the diagnostic would be $180 and I said that's fine, left my car there, and waited for the call. Before I even went to Evans, I'd quickly researched how much it was to repair AC and found that it generally costs $400-500 if it's just something to do with the refrigerant. Carlo calls around 9AM and says that the compressor is broken and it's a common fault with Hyundais. He also recommended new tires and that I get the rear shocks done because they are shot. He asks if I'd like to know the whole price or just the cost for each issue. I go ahead and ask for the whole price: $3600. Wow, I did not expect that. I ask how much it is just for the AC: $1700. I ask if I can postpone the shocks, and he said he recommends that I don't wait because it'll put a lot of stress on the car and can mess with the suspension, which would be at least $2500 to repair. So better to do a relatively "little" repair now than to pay more later. Up to now, everything makes sense from a logic standpoint. Those who know more about cars than I do may read more into what I've described so far, but I went ahead and decided to go forward with all of the repairs and new tires. Here is where I made a rookie mistake -- I didn't ask for the individual cost of the tires he quoted. Turns out he quoted $160.99/ea 85k Goodyear tires. Great tires, but better than I need. (MSRP is $155.99 at Big O Tires, $137 at Discount Tires, and $134.51 at Walmart. So no, Carlo, you don't have the best price. ) Like I said, that was my mistake. I should've asked how much the tires were and for cheaper options. My bad. Carlo called me back ~1PM to let me know the car was ready. He also let me know that he applied the 10% off that we'd discussed earlier because I had brought in the regular Evans coupon they always mail out for 10% off (up to $150) any repair service. Great, I said. I also asked if he applied the cost of the diagnostic to the total. Whenever I've gone to Evans or any service center, including Hyundai itself, they apply the diagnostic to the repairs. Carlo confirmed that yes, he applied the $180 toward the repairs. Great, I say, I'll be by in the afternoon to pick up my car. I go to Evans ~2:15PM and RJ(?) is at the counter to help us. He rings me up and lets me know the CC machine is ready. I ask to see the details first. As I review, I see the $150 discount, but only $90 of the $180 diagnostic was applied to the repairs. I question that and let RJ know that Carlo said he applied all of it. RJ isn't sure, and Carlo left for a meeting, but he goes ahead and makes the adjustment. I was glad I checked and made sure but the fact that Carlo wasn't keeping his word irked me. Did he think I wouldn't notice? Was it an honest mistake? If this was all that went wrong, I'd be annoyed but this isn't all. When I got home, I looked up the part number for the shocks. Evans charged me $262.99 x 2 = $525.98. I found the exact same part number on the Autozone website (and Autozone just happens to be located right next door), and the part is only $71.99 x 2 = $143.98. A difference of $382! I call Evans, speak to RJ, he lets me know that Carlo is still at his meeting but that he'll have him call me back. I hang up then decide to look up how much the compressor cost. Evans charged me $949.99. My sister tells me when she did a quick search looking for a ballpark for Hyundai Sonata AC compressors, she came up with $750. While she's talking, I find the part number for the compressor they used--again on Autozone--and guess how much it is? $536.99, dear reader. A difference of $413! Add that to the shocks, and I've been overcharged $795 on parts alone! I don't know if or by how much I was overcharged on labor, but I would NOT be surprised if that was also inflated. I called Evans back and spoke with RJ again, and he took down the price difference, and again let me know that he'll have Carlo call me. They will apparently figure something out. I hope they figure out that it is not right to charge a customer more than twice as much as parts are actually worth. Maybe because I'm a woman, they thought I was an easy mark. I mean, I guess I am, because I didn't think to question their pricing up front. I was a fool to place my trust in Evans. My family and I have been going to Evans over many years, but I foresee taking our business elsewhere. I will update when and if I hear back. I can say this now though: Evans Lemon Grove is not trustworthy. read more

Anyways it was the back breaks.. so the guy at the register I think it was Johnny from my receipt gave me a quote of $670.00 I was surprised and said no I can't afford that I'm on disability let me call my Dad ... I am writing this to save anyone else from this situation I dealt with today at Evan's Tire off Broadway in La Mesa. It was March 3rd (Wednesday) 2025. I went in to pay for my tires and paid and set my wallet in my center console not thinking they would steal anything or even go through my car as I went in for service only on my tires. Once they finished , my wallet was missing along with my $2000 inside. Unfortunately, I did the act of leaving it inside the car and I am choosing to put this situation behind me but I hope that this saves someone else from being stolen from. I've always brought my vehicles to evans. Customer service has never been amazing, but I try to be understanding. This location is super convenient for me, and they've always gotten the job done. After my last visit, I am Very unsatisfied with customer service at this location. Communication is non existent. I towed my car here after it overheated. Dropped it off right at opening, was told I'd have an update within 2 hr. No one called me, I'm sure they were busy. No big deal. I call 4.5 hr after drop off, still no update and that they'd call Me back within an hr. No one called me. I called again around 2p (over 5 hr after drop off) , guy just told me my car was all ready to go! I get there, and then they tell me my head gasket blew and I need a new engine BUT they did my oil change and now I had to pay $150! I was taken back, and asked why was I not informed over the phone, and why would they do an oil change on an engine that needs to be replaced !!? The two men looked at each other and asked "why didn't you tell her? Did you not update her?" So they're not even communicating amongst themselves. I was quoted two hours to put the tires on and have an alignment done. They were only a few minutes off target. I love how when you bring your car here for one thing ANYTHING they find wrong along the way they write it down and advise you of it. Fast service. Knowledgeable staff. Excellent customer service. I went in with my old car and had a bunch of service done with Evans tires. The store manager Adam was so helpful. He walked me through step by step with what services I needed and what was due in service since I had a 30 year old car. He gave me a fair quote and I gave him the keys and off to the races it was. I was in and out within an hour for all the tune ups and fluid changes I needed for my old 93 integra. When it came to pay the bill he told me there was some stuff I didn't need and removed it from my bill!! So not only did he save me money and got my car running like a champ again he was honest with everything. The vehicle was only driven 4500 miles in the last year and a half and both my front tires are worn extremely low on the inside and my drivers front tire has the cords showing. My wife's vehicle had a bolt in the tire. I stopped by Evans Tire in Lemon Grove. As I parked and walked in Ben was in the service bay and said hello and welcomed me. I got inside and Mike helped me right away. He asked for the wheel lock key ahead of time so that he had everything he needed to service the vehicle. In just a few minutes he let me know that there was not only the bolt I saw, but a nail as well. He said it was something they could fix and would do so at no charge. Just a few minutes later Ben pulled our car around front. He had road tested it as well to make sure the low tire pressure warning light went off. In addition, I asked Mike if they sold valve stem covers because we noticed one was missing. He put one on free of charge as well. Just want to say thank you again to Mike and Ben at Evans tire.
