I have been to many car places around the area, but Juniors customer service is what brings me back. 1 Star Review overall, but here's a thorough breakdown of what I experienced here. The Good: - Great price on a TPMS replacement. My tire light was on due to a couple of sensors that were dead and wouldn't scan. Called around and American Tire provided a great quote ($12.50/tire) and were willing to install third party sensors that I greatly appreciated. I love when companies allow customers to provide their own materials. I understood the risks and that there wouldn't be a warranty or anything but it was worth the gamble to me at that price. The Bad - After they installed the sensors, they told me to drive the car for 10-15 minutes to see if the light turned off. If the light didn't turn off they simply said there was nothing more they could do for me (outside of installing whatever OEM they typically use). So the light persisted after I drove around for plenty of time, but considering we scanned them successfully before installing I wasn't convinced yet that they were faulty parts. Took the car over to discount tire for a tpms check, and watched the tech successfully scan all 4 tires and the dashboard INSTANTLY started pulling all the psi data. All this means is that: a) the scanner that American Tire uses is crap, b) they weren't patient enough when waiting for the tires to sync/scan, or c) they rushed me outta there with an incomplete job in hopes I would return to pay to get the job done with them a second time with their own hardware. - In addition to the tpms job, American Tire offered me a good price for an alignment (my car was slightly pulling to the right). I gave them the go-ahead and when they said everything was good to go I drove home and could immediately tell that the car was still pulling exactly the same as before . Asked them over text if they could provide the before/after printout of the alignment data which they never did (more info on that coming). To be extra thorough before returning to American, I had Discount check the alignment on the car, and they found the front right toe alignment to be off, which was consistent with the way the car was handling. So with that info I went back to American Tire to have them take another stab at the alignment, also still curious to see what data (if any) they had on my car from the previous attempt. It's worth highlighting the fact that they were unable to EVER provide me with the 1st alignment's data. Supposedly they forgot to give me the printout in person, and also couldn't find the information in their system (even though it should have been saved). As you can imagine this just makes you wonder if they ever did the job at all. Beyond that, upon scanning it a second time... their machines showed that everything was "fine". Being told that the car is fine when it's clearly pulling just added to the poor overall experience and lack of trust that they are qualified to do any of this work. So what this leads me to believe is that either their machines just aren't calibrated properly/capable of detecting issues with an alignment, or they are just pretending to do the work and stealing people's money. It's all speculation of course, but for what it's worth I wound up taking the car to another local shop in la mesa who immediately confirmed the issue with the front right toe (therefore American tire is disproven by not only common sense but 2 separate shops). --- All in all, I'd stay far away from this location. Whether or not they are underfunded in terms of equipment or just poorly staffed is anybody's guess, but the district manager who called me confirmed that they are well aware of poor experiences that are being reported from the Lemon Grove location. If I was in a pinch I'd probably give one of the other locations a shot, but never here. And at least the district manager seemed to genuinely care and is doing everything possible to improve the situation moving forward. read more

I had the pleasure of having Raoul take care of me at ATD in La Mesa, after a very poor customer experience at ATD in Kearny Mesa. Raoul and his professional crew made sure things were done right in rotating and balancing my tires along with confirming my alignment was spot on. An alignment tech with OCD is what you want - not just getting specs in the "green", but down the middle in the green. Now that's precision! You can tell when a shop is thinking short term profit, suggesting expensive services that are unnecessary (no shortage of that at ATD Kearny Mesa) but how refreshing when a shop knows your vehicle is in good shape and doesn't need to peddle product for a quick profit. That's Raoul and his team's approach - professionalism with integrity. I'll be coming to La Mesa in the future. It's a much longer drive but worth it for the right experience. read more

I was helped by Tony, and customer service is remarkable. He showed me what I needed to see regarding my tires. I told him that my tire kept getting low but didn't know how it needed to be changed. He looked at my tires and inspected. He let me know I will need to get new tires. Tony and the crew got my car in and changed all 4 tires in about 30 minutes. All in all, I've always bought my tires here and will continue to do so. Customer service is superb! Great value for what I paid for. And speedy service. We came at 5 pm and they closed at 6 pm. It seems this company has fallen down on the customer service area. I just spent 3 hours here to get new tires and it was soul sucking. I guess their concept of time and mine is different. Appointment was at 3p. I let them know I would be 15m late. "No Problem " I was told...car did not go up on the rack till 5.30p...they close at 6pm and it's now 6.30 and they are still trying to put the new tires on the rims. UGH...should have gone to another tire place...rubber is rubber but customer service can really set the table. read more

Be careful about this place, potential "scamming" customers. I took my Car here because of the check engine light. Dropped it off at this location a couple of hours I got a call from someone named Junior. His diagnosis was that my car required a "Turbo" replacement with estimated repairs and replacement of $3,000.00. Also mentioned that there were possible clutch and transmission problems that could cost more than the quoted $3,000.00, I decided to pass up on the repairs. Something was telling me to go somewhere else. I took my vehicle elsewhere for the 2nd opinion. Glad I did the 2nd shop immediately, called me and told me nothing wrong with transmission or the "Turbo". All that was needed was a new replacement radiator. The Labor and radiator replacement was only $300.00. Significant repair cost, as well as the false diagnosis for the "turbo and transmission. In summary, as stated here, be cautious and question the estimates and quoted repairs from this place. Go elsewhere and seek other options. read more

I called seeking a price on a set of new tires. Dez gave me so much information about things to consider when purchasing tires that I began to feel like he was a subject matter expert as apposed to a salesman. There was absolutely no pressure involved. I did not end up purchasing my tires from American Tire Depot for reasons that had nothing to do with them but because for other reasons. I have used them in the past for new tires on my car. There were no problems . The service was good and the price was right. So I recommended them to my granddaughter . She got new tires again no problem . They inspected the brakes and explained they needed to be replaced which was true. I decided to replace the brakes and rotors which I have done many times . Here is where the problem started. While removing the tires on the left side I snapped three tire lugs. The stud on the rear was easy to replace. The ones on the front were imposable to replace without major disassembly. Therefore it was taken to a shop for repair at a cost of $190. I haven't had a lug snap off in many years of car repairs. I believe the cause was the technician used an impact tool when replacing the lug nuts. An Impact tool should only be used to remove the lug nuts not replacing the lug nut. read more
