I had a great experience here yesterday, and I thought I should write a review because good reviews are rare for auto shops, right? Anyway... This was my 2nd experience here. My first was when I got tires 2 years ago. They did the normal check and told me I needed belts, flushing, filters... you know, the usual little rip off things, all of which I declined without hassle. Of those things, my usual mechanic (dear old dad) determined that only the air filter needed to be replaced. They also said my struts needed to be replaced, and they took me out into the garage and showed me exactly why they needed replacing. I accepted that and within a couple hours, I was back on the road and my 2006 Corolla was driving better than I ever remembered. They even called me a couple days later to make sure the car was riding smoothly. Overall a very good experience. So yesterday. I needed to get my battery checked, and while I was there, I got my tires rotated too. They checked the battery and told me that it needed to be replaced (that thing was from 2009... no joke!). And, surprisingly, they didn't try to upsell me with belts, filters, and fluids. They had a replacement battery on site for $129, 60 month warranty. Done and done. With tax and disposal, the whole thing cost $140. I was expecting more expensive, and I was also expecting it to take longer than a half hour. So, they exceeded my expectations in every way. And their customer service is super nice and professional (and there was rock music playing in the garage, which jives with my taste!). As a young woman, it is so nerve-wracking doing anything automotive because it's well-known that we tend to get viewed as suckers and get ripped off. I drive ALL THE WAY from Otay Ranch to Point Loma to come here. They hooked me up with basically buy 3 get 1 free, then, because it was the last day of the month, they gave me lifetime alignments for $169, not bad considering a single alignment is $90. They are always so nice and never talk down to me...I did my own last brake job myself at the auto hobby shop, and we also have a MINI, so I know a little about cars. Fair prices and nice folks. I will say this though; while they did have the best price on a set of tires out of the 7 places i got quotes from, the 'buy 2 tires, get 2 tires free' is a sales gimmick. Do the knowledge yaself to form an understanding. It didnt come out to be 2 tires free, it came out to be about 20 bucks cheaper than any of the area competitors. Justa heads up on that! Still, 20 bucks is 20 bucks and you get a warranty and free flat repair, although im pretty sure thats standard industry practice. Would i send you there for tires? Great place! I called on Saturday afternoon looking to get an appointment to get some work done on my car. They were able to fit me in same day even though I'm a new customer which was more than I was expecting. I got set up quickly and I was able to go browse in the shops across the street to kill some time while they worked. Ruben was great. He just took over the shop and he was very helpful with getting me set up with new tires and struts. I'm always a little skeptical about car repairs and such but I didn't get the impression that they were trying to scam me at any point. They offered to work with me to make sure the work got done as well. When the shop was set to close they stayed open to help other people coming in for help, they always had a smile for every person that came in too. I'd recommend this place, absolutely. About two weeks ago, I zipped in here to get some tires. After spending weeks of calling around to get quotes on a set of tires for my Mustang, I heard from a friend about a buy 2 get 2 free special at Evans. They did seem to have a bit cheaper quote (though not sure how the tires compare). I called, they gave me an estimate. "Does that include alignment?" I asked. They told me it was unlikely that I'd need an alignment. Doubtful, I agreed to come in. Friday afternoon I drove in, then spent a couple hours wandering around Sports Arena. (Kobeys Swap, Chick-Fil-A, Target, Ross). They did eventually call me and tell me that I *really* needed an alignment - which would be an additional $60. Really. Gee, I'm shocked. They also told me I need new rotors (for $500) but I'll have to get a second opinion before I take them at their word. I got some tires, I feel safer driving my car, so I'm happy. And even with the tacked on alignment, it was still a bit less expensive than the other places I got quotes. read more

I've recently had a bunch of work done at this location. Tires, brakes, radiator, steering arm. Good guys, great prices, great service. One of the managers pissed me off when I was asking him about their charges for their road hazard warranty, but I'm still giving them 5 stars, because he was being a good guy, but seemed to think I was being disrespectful and got a little mad at me. So for me to still give them 5 stars shows that I really like the shop. I just went to the Jackson Ave shop in La Mesa for some work and loved those guys too. I have been going to this place for a while for tires and I have never been disappointed. They are always done quicker then they say they will be done, they always clean my tires even if the service is not related, they diagnosed my car within seconds of bringing the car in even though other places couldn't (and I ended up spending a lot of money replacing the wrong parts before Evans Tire). I didn't give it 5 stars because they failed to notice my tie rods had a lot of play which later on another mechanic found out. It might have happened after I got my tires done but it is kind of doubtful since I have noticed the problem for a while but didn't know much about what was wrong till the other mechanic explained it to me. Also as a side note... I got their 3 year alignment which was great but just realize it is just alignment and not rotation or anything else. read more

I went to this place originally for a slow leak in my tire 5 years ago - they pulled the nail and plugged the tire for free. After that great experience, I went again 6 months later with my new 'used' car I just bought and had 4 new tires put on it. This week I went back for my routine free alignment on those 4 tires - and they pulled another nail while they were at it. I asked for a quote on 4 new tires - after my mechanic told me to start looking for new tires - and they said I had another 6 months at least (no pushy sales routine) All in all - a great place that doesn't charge you for small fixes or push you into big purchases - yay! read more

Evans Tire I brought my car in for tires and ended up getting my 90,000 mile check up taken care of too... Cost about $1400 in maintenance. I drove off the lot and with in 48hrs I had some serious whistling and squeaking coming from my wheels. I had just had the rear brakes replaced and felt SUPER INCONVENIENCED by the idea of having to return for more work. When I brought my car in I was ready to put-up an argument for being sincerely inconvenienced and upset with having to return... However Alfredo expressed that the issue appeared new and due to the struts wearing out. (I know nothing about cars,) but he offered to rub down the roaders free of charge to mute the underlying issue until I was ready to return. Great service! My boyfriend and I both went here for two different tire needs. The boyfriend got a set of new tires. They offered a very competitive quote and quality service. He encouraged me to go there when I had a slow leak in one of my tires. I showed up bright and early (before they opened) on a Sunday morning. There was a line of folks already waiting for them. When they opened, the man overseeing the service desk purely crushed it! He balanced ringing phones, questions from coworkers, and direct face to face service. He gave me a very accurate estimate for how long it would take for my car to be done, which allowed me to walk to a nearby coffee shop and stores. Overall, I was really impressed with all of my observations of the teams, including mechanics. My patch was free, btw. Seeing how busy they are, I wouldn't suggest walking in on a Sunday, unless it's urgent. If you're going to do it, get there early or be ready to pick your car up several hours later. Hopefully I don't need any car service anytime soon, but I would definitely start at this specific Evans Tires if so. read more

I came here and they said I had at least a year left in my tires- that's integrity. I was one day into a two week road trip when my car tire kept slowly deflating. I stopped by Evans without an appointment, and they told me they would check my tire for free. Daniel and Rick went above and beyond to help me out with a flat tire. When my car's tire pressure light came on, I pulled over to find one nail in the driver's side tire. I called Evans pretty late in the day because there was no possibility I would be able to drive the next morning without it being fixed ASAP. When I got there, they dealt with my tire immediately and ended up finding two (!!) additional nails in another tire which Daniel promptly fixed, no problem. The willingness to work past their shift to make sure my tires were safe for driving made me extremely grateful. The downtown location on 1st Ave was jam packed and had a long wait so, I called the Sports Arena location. LUIS at the desk answered the phone and said they'd take care of me immediately "just ask for me". Upon arrival, Luis came out to my car to greet me with a handshake - which took me by surprise, I was impressed with the customer service. Then, he gave me a great deal on a synthetic oil change, tire rotation and Nitrogen refill, and alignment. Ba-boom - done quickly, in and out! DO NOT COME HERE. Came to get an alignment and they took over 2 hours to complete the job. The workers were rude and seemed like they didn't care. THEY LIED TO ME AND TOLD ME I NEEDED EXTRA PARTS.
