Brought my Audi a7 because I found myself having to put air in my tires every couple of months. No tire place has ever been able to give me an alternative to having to fill with air much more often than I want to. Anthony was awesome not only did he check out my tire for a nail (which there wasn't one) but he talked to me about filling with nitrogen. The nitrogen was very reasonably priced and comes with free top offs though he let me know I shouldn't have the issue of having to fill my tires as often anymore. He told me it's also known to help with gas mileage, so to pay attention to that. I have been using Evan's Tires as my "go to" tire store for over 15 years. I have never been disappointed. The quality of their products, price and service is the best. Kevin and Rick at the Sports Arena store are very efficient, knowledgeable and accommodating (even to staying open a little longer after closing when I was delayed picking up my car). They will occasionally make service recommendations, but never pressure you to buy. I especially like the warranties they give for alignments, tire rotation and balancing (these are good at any Evan's location). I got a nail in my tire, and went to OB tire because someone told me they have a good value. Their website and their door says they open at 7:30 AM, and I stood outside until 7:45 AM but no one showed up. So I went over to this place, and they got my car up right away got the nail out of my tire, and patched it for free! And they were so quick even with other cars in the bay, and they were so nice for kind of no reason. I may have been visibly stressed out but they just did it for free regardless, Eddie at the front desk, what was one of the nicest people I've ever encountered in any business in San Diego. read more

Update: I have to say I am impressed that management and even the Vice President reached out to make things right... We had our water pump replaced at this location in San Diego, CA... Midway location last May (2016). Our water pump is now being replaced again. We had it towed to a location other than Evans Tires on Midway as we did not realize the current issue is the water pump. Why would a water pump need replacing in less than a year's time. We called Evan's Tires and were informed that if we had it towed (for the second time today) to Evans Tires, they MIGHT be able to work out a discount but they weren't sure because there is new management. So, without having to spend more money on multiple tow charges, we left it where it is to be repaired. I can't see how any of this reflects a professional establishment. We'd like to be compensated for this mishap. In addition to the current issue, there have been a few others. Once we dropped our vehicle off to have the tires balanced and rotated and when got the vehicle back, the alignment was worse than when we took it in. Another time, we requested a new air filter to be replaced and it was not replaced. I sure hope the NEW MANAGEMENT cleans up this chaotic excuse for a business. read more

Took my car here for a quick oil change. The service was fine, got the standard up-sell attempt, but nothing too aggressive. The fact that an oil change took over an hour is bad enough, but it gets worse... ...When I got my car back, I discovered that I was missing several items from my glove box. Nothing crazy enough to call the police over, but substantial enough to be pissed off about. When I called them on it, I got nothing in response. "Nobody here did that" "Not our fault" etc. Things gone from my glovebox: 3rd-gen iPod Touch 32gb, Flashlight, Multi-tool, iPhone charger, and a sweet round tire pressure gauge. My fiancee got a flat tire the other day driving in to Point Loma. Unfortunately I was at work and was unable to help, but I thought it was fortunate this tire shop was located directly across from where she was located on google maps. These guys gave her the run around and tried to scare her into thinking all four tires on her car were "dangerously" old and in need of immediate replacement at the tune of $460 dollars. She drives a Honda Civic that has less than 20,000 miles on it. Fortunately she was smart and told them to just put the spare on so I could deal with it when I got off work. So the next day, I took the tire down to Discount Tire and they told me the tires were fine on age, had great tread, and beyond that, they were able to easily fix the tire and put it back on my car FREE OF CHARGE; literally walked out the door with a hand shake. I definitely recommend passing on this place. They saw a woman walking in who they thought they could take for a ride and nearly scared her into getting something she didn't need, and spending a whole lot of money to do it. That is just plain wrong, and terrible customer service. There is a Discount Tire literally around the corner on Midway Drive, I highly recommend going there for your tire needs, or anywhere else nearby (i believe there is also an Express Tire across from the Discount, but I personally have always been happy with Discount Tire's service) read more

I visited Evan's Tires in Point Loma this past weekend and could not have been more disappointed by their customer service. First, I had to flag someone down from the garage area to be helped. My mom and I were the only people in the store so I found this odd, but I dismissed it. Second, I inquired about their tire promotion which I had heard about on the radio and which I had researched online. The guy gave me this half-ass overview of my option -- that's right, I had one option -- to buy two tires for $120 each and get the next two for free. The tires he offered to me were for high propensity drivers, with a 4-5 year life span. I then asked for other options, even if they were excluded from the promotion. He said he only had two tires in the store that were less expensive but he was putting them on another car. He never offered to order them or didn't offer other tires suitable alternatives. It was his tire offer or nothing. I proceeded to tell him that the tires he was offering were too high in quality for someone like myself who lives and works downtown. I drive short distances so I just needed something new and basic. Still, no response. So I took the paperwork he gave me, told him I would consider it and possibly be back later. On my way out, he bad mouthed the competitor Discount Tire, hoping to dissuade me from taking my business elsewhere. I left. I will not be back to Evan's Tire. I do not recommend wasting your time or money there. P.S. I ended up going to Discount Tire and purchased the exact same tires -- all four, without a promotion -- for $100 cheaper. Discount Tire's service was exceptional. They were courteous, helpful and genuinely wanted to get me the tires that suited my needs and my budget. Thanks, Discount Tire! read more

My husband needed his tires changed, badly. He had a difficult time looking for a legit place that he can afford and started asking around other tire shops for an estimate and Evans Tires had the best estimate, deal AND customer service. He scheduled around lunch and even gave him an estimate on how long the process would take. We arrived around lunch, and we got instantly greeted by Gabe who already knew it was my husband that needed to come in, nice! There were 2 other guys waiting already but they were almost finished getting their car serviced. The estimated waiting time we received was 1hr and 30min. And they were right on the dot! I truly appreciated the customer service Gabe given us while we waited and he was truly helpful with any questions or concerns we might have. The best part was the new year deal on the tires and getting that check-in deal on Yelp, feels good to save! Most def. Recommended, they beat Discount Tires prices too! I came to this location today because out of nowhere something happened to my brakes as I left work. It was an annoyingly loud screeching sound that I happened to drive by this location and had to fix that noise. Kevin was awesome......turns out there was a rock that got into my brakes and once it was removed, my car was back to normal. The inspection was free and Kevin and Carlos didn't charge me. 3.875 Let's be honest...it is tough to give a car place a 5...you bring your car in for an oil change or whatever and they find $24,869.09 in additional services you need done. I find these guys fairly honest and willing to accommodate you...that being said I am probably the Duke here and have dropped around $6k in the last year here... I have a couple cars and get both of them serviced here for certain things When something goes wrong on my "nice" car I will check with the two dealers in SD what it will cost...and then come here...they usually beat the dealerships by 20%...granted they are high end dealerships,...but still...20%. They offer a good deal on lifetime alignments...have weekly specials...are accurate and quick to diagnose..and most importantly shoot you straight. read more

I needed my tire changed towards the end of the day, and they told me they weren't sure if they could get me in. But they stayed a little after closing to get my car done. Very disappointed today this is my second visit were I had service done and they clearly cant follow directions I asked them to inspect the back brakes while rotating the tires and two hours later they said they didnt have time. Let me start by saying I work a crazy amount of hours per week, in customer service, and any spare time I have needs to be spent wisely. This place nails it on all accounts! Called before coming to make sure they could help me quickly with checking on a potential tire leak, as well as either entirely new tires and a fill, or just a fill. Very kind gentleman on the phone picked up immediately and told me they actually do free patches (hell yeah) and didn't try to scare me into new tires or any extra services when he could've easily done so. The story stayed the same when I went inside (despite being a young female driving a Mercedes) - they were gonna check the tires, do a quick inspection, patch and fill if need be, and done at $25 out the door. Quoted price stayed the exact same, and Ricky was really helpful and knowledgeable, not a sleazy salesman or mechanic like a lot of other places that just want your money. I've been to Costco, Discount, etc. And something ALWAYS goes wrong, or it takes hours just to get some nitrogen, or they always try to sell me on things I don't need just because I'm a female driving a nice car. Nowhere else compares to the great experience I had today. Got a call from Ricky before I even got home from stopping at the grocery store afterwards saying my car was ready! Keep in mind this is mid-day on a Saturday, without appointment, and includes them checking my oil and inspecting the car. I don't think anywhere else is even close to being that quick. Went in to pick my car up, again prices and quote stayed the same (no one magically discovered some massive repairs in the 30 mins it took, like some other places do...), and Ricky got all the paperwork done super fast. He even went *above and beyond* to order me specific replacement valve caps for my Mercedes since the mechanics were unable to find my originals, from his personal Amazon account. I've had things like that happen many times at other tire places (custom Mercedes wheel emblems missing, valve caps missing, broken bits, etc.), and hardly got so much as a sorry! And here Ricky is replacing something that he didn't even do. For every one bad review, there are a thousand great ones (many mentioning Ricky)! That's incredibly hard to find with any car/tire place. I will recommend this place to everyone I know! read more

Evans tires on sports Arena Boulevard I highly recommend!!! They are knowledgeable, trustworthy, & honest, I brought my Kia soul in for new tires I was helped by the technician Octavio. He could've taken my money for new tires but instead he told me that I did not need new tires he gave me a free inspection and told me that my axle was bent causing the tires uneven wear, I had just brought my car into the dealer 3 weeks prior for inspection of a popping noise (I left the dealer with my car not fix) even the dealer did not find what was wrong with the car... but Evans tiers did!! Even though they were extremely busy Octavio still took my car and gave me a free inspection told me immediately what was wrong with it! If this part was not covered under warranty I would definitely be giving my money to Evans tires!! I highly recommend this place!! The staff is wonderful!! read more

I dropped by after finding out I had a nail in my front tire after picking up my cat from the vet. I had my cat in the car and was needing to get to Encinitas to drop my cat off at boarding. I go in completely frazzled and stressed and the gentleman at the front desk was wonderful. He 1st told me it would be 2 hours but once realizing my cat was in my car, had me pull around so he could take a look. Beto came out with him and they took care of my tire right away because they could tell I was stressed and on a time limit. They both were so incredibly nice and I am so grateful they took care of me right away so I could get my stressed cat where he needed to go. 100 percent recommend this location and I will be coming back. The bad: No appointments available. It's strictly first come, first serve. The Good: The service was otherwise great. Unfortunately I have odd sized tires so I had to get the problem diagnosed and then return when the tires arrived, but the time at each visit was reasonably short. The Awesome: They accidentally overcharged me. I never would have known this unless they spotted the mistake and called me. When I next need tires I'll be going back there. So I've been here three times total. Each time they have lived up to my first review. They are always super friendly, helpful, and honest. I feel like they are consistently a little slower than I want, but it's worth it. This time, they were only slow because they had to wait for the parts I needed. I have always used Discount Tires for my cars, but when it came time to re-tire my Rover I priced around and found Evans had 1 free tire making them significantly cheaper than Discount Tire. I called an 800 number to locate the tires that I needed for the vehicle and was really impressed with the service and time the gentlemen took to find the tires near me, which turned out to be Sports Arena Blvd. Right across from Phil's BBQ but that is another story. Within the hour I received a call from the local shop and set an appointment that afternoon. When I arrived the place seemed pretty busy but they waited on my right away and got started on the Rover. The price that I was quoted was the same as the estimate. While I waited for my tires I noticed that almost everyone in the waiting room was called up to the counter to discuss some problem that was found. So it did not surprise me when they called me up and said my power steering hose was leaking and should be replaced. I politely informed them that all my mechanical work was done in Encinitas at California Rover but appreciated the letting me know. When I check with California Rover the next day the owner told me the hose was not leaking and it was just sweating which is normal for that model. Beyond the up-sell of the shop I am overall very pleased with the service. Only days after putting the tires on I picked up a screw and a flat. I took it into the downtown location on First and they fixed it quickly. read more
