the capri straw wrapper and mini pen and debris

My journey with this Venue started a few months ago in September. I was assisting in hosting a 50th Birthday party for a friend of mine. My Friend found this venue and booked it, even so she had some concerns. One being that the venue is actually a church. However, it was affordable and looked decent and most other venues were booked up. My friends package included, set up, clean up, catering and other amenities, such as table cloths, chair sashes etc.. My friend paid for 6 hours (7 pm to 1 am). When my friend asked the owner of the venue ( Judy ) to allow the DJ in to set up, she informed her that there would be an extra charge ($100 ). Of course she paid it, (as to not have the Dj setting up in front of the guest as the party was to start). The night of the party, Judy delivered the food that was to be served (buffet style) and was instructing US on where and how to put it out. Issue being that my friend paid for SET UP AND CLEAN UP. My friend should not have lifted a finger. The closer the date came to the event, Judy consistently tried to convince my friend to hire/ include an attendant to the package for $25 an hour. When my friend asked why would we need an attendant., she replied to help clean up, keep restrooms stocked and maintained, take out trash etc., Mind you, clean up was part of the package . Judy made a comment durning our initial visit to the venue that she wouldn't "nickel and dime us" when we asked hypothetical questions regarding any unforeseen extras. But unfortunately, it seems like that's exactly what she did. In any event., After all was said and done., We had a lovely time. We enjoyed ourselves and it turned out beautifully. The Venue (church) was spacious, had sufficient parking and was affordable. The construction leading to event was a bit annoying, but not the fault of the venue. My friend was not too pleased with the process but enjoyed her birthday! More Currently, It's now April. Another friend was planning a Baby Shower for her daughter and needed a venue. Everywhere we called was booked up or way too expensive. Although I was reluctant, I recommended Events at New Beginnings. Simply because at this point, we were close to desperate and Besides that, my friend didn't need a "whole package", she just wanted to rent the venue with some tables and chairs. No Biggie! My friend leaves a deposit of $150. After bill had been pain in full, we later asked if there were a Bluetooth speaker we could use for the party. Judy said yes for $25. ( No problem) I asked her how to pay and she said to bring it the day of the party since bill was closed out ( I assumed). In conclusion, We were not eligible to get our $150 deposit back because we didn't pay for the speaker (subtract $25 - which we don't debate) there was some crumbs on the carpet ( pics will be attached on this review) and she found a capri sun straw wrapper and mini pen (with crumbs), and apparently we left lights on, (when we remember shutting them all off) and some food debris inside the sink drain., Apparently we were denied the deposit also because of our early arrival ( 15 minutes). So again, Place was decent looking. This time around the venue / church was painted so walls were fresh. However there was a huge wooden wedding arch thingy in the middle of our baby shower that did not go with our decor,( she claimed it couldn't be moved), also, the ENTIRE VENUE/ CHURCH was literally set up for CHURCH. We had to remove ALL the tables and chairs ourselves that took up most of the time we paid for to "PARTY". The construction was still going on in the street as you pull in to the venue. I like to consider myself a pretty honest and fair person. I know we for sure owed the money for the speaker, but if you take a look at the pictures attached, you can see for yourself that Judy was being a little extreme. And Hey, I get it, We are all in it to make money. Cool. But really.... 15 minutes early??? A few crumbs?? They must have really searched that ENTIRE venue/ church for those crumbs. I had at least 3 more events coming up that I almost considered renting New Beginnings for again. Unfourtantly, I will not. If money is not a big deal to you and being "nickel and dime" is not an issue that I definitely recommend this place. I gave it 3 stars because it was spacious and there was sufficient amount of parking.

One of my favorite upgrades is the new deck--you no longer have to walk through sand and end up with sandy feet, which makes a huge difference. The drinks and food are very reasonably priced, the new staff is friendly and attentive, and the service has been consistently great. They also have live music four nights a week, which adds an awesome atmosphere. With its beautiful waterfront setting on the lake, great food and drinks, fun live entertainment, and welcoming staff, The Tiki Cove has become one of my favorite places to relax. It's clear the new management is doing an amazing job, and I highly recommend checking it out!

Not to mention it was so dark and the lack of lighting (even tho they had string lights, it's clear maintenance is not a priority). The burgers are just cheap frozen patties that were way over cooked. They tasted funky, like a chemical taste to it. The patties were also burnt. It was essentially a hockey puck vs any imagination of real meat. 0/10. They were not good at all. The kids nuggets were virtually processed cardboard. They clearly had been sitting out for a while and warmed up. 0/10. The 8 year old said they tasted funny, so I tried one and it did have a weird taste. Disgusting. The fries, they were under-cooked. We didn't even eat them. Hot on the outside and cold on the inside. Zero salt as well. Honestly, McDonald's would have been a FAR better option for burgers and nuggets. These were absolutely disgusting. I don't really recommend ever going here. If you're in the area, go to Ukulele or In the Loop Brewing. Stay clear of this over priced dump.

Luckily there was a lot of outdoor seating, so it wasn't too difficult to find a seat. I ended up getting the sweet blueberry wine, blueberry flatbread (had caramelized onions, arugula, and prosciutto with a blueberries glaze drizzle), and the blueberry shortcake. The wine was lightly sweet and not dry. The blueberry flatbread tasted more of the caramelized onions and the blueberry drizzle added a little hint of sweetness and tartness. My favorite though was the blueberry shortcake. It was soft and the blueberry compote was absolutely delicious. Although it was rich, it didn't feel heavy. I wish I had gotten another slice. In general, I've been here before and it's nice and cozy inside with great service! I love trying all the flavors available with their wine and beer flights (some are seasonal). Honestly, sometimes I buy their wine by the bottle in stores because it's actually just that good.

I am the mother of the bride. My daughter had her wedding at Saxon Manor in December 2025, and I am…read morewriting this review because what happened to our family needs to be known. The catering failures on her wedding day were numerous and inexcusable. We had carefully selected a menu after going through TWO tastings, the first of which was so unsatisfactory that we actually asked to bring in our own caterer. We were persuaded to give them a second chance after being told a new chef had been hired. We went back, had a second tasting, and selected our menu: chicken skewers and a dip and cheese platter for appetizers, and for dinner, caesar salad, plain rice pilaf, steak bites, au gratin potatoes, and salmon. Here is what was actually served at my daughter's wedding: * Instead of salmon, they served chicken. * Instead of au gratin potatoes, they served green beans and zucchini, something no one wanted or enjoyed. * Instead of plain rice pilaf, it came out with cranberries in it. * They ran out of chicken skewers during the appetizer hour. Many of our guests did not get any. That is three wrong dinner items and a shortage on the appetizers, on my daughter's wedding day. The manager on site (Nick) acknowledged the mistakes and apologized, and told us the owner would call to make it right. When the owner called me, I was shocked by his behavior. He tried to justify serving green beans by saying they had received a large shipment and had extras lying around, as if my daughter's wedding was a place to use up surplus produce. He claimed he personally witnessed plenty of skewers and suggested our guests may have been overeating. He made an insinuation that my daughter was somehow at fault by saying "I don't want to say your daughter was at fault, but." He stopped there and gave no reason whatsoever how or why the bride would be at fault here (because there is none). When I asked him what do you mean my daughter is at fault, he changed the subject. And when I calmly said this appeared to be a breach of contract, he became loud, aggressive, and belligerent, repeatedly yelling "you played me." I was so uncomfortable with his conduct that I ended the call and told him all future communication must be in writing or with a male (attorney) family member. I then sent a detailed email to the owner and the venue documenting everything and asking for appropriate compensation. They never replied. Not once. Months went by in complete silence. It was only after my daughter filed a BBB complaint and posted a review that they acknowledged any of this, and even then, their response only mentioned one of the four problems and offered no compensation whatsoever. If you are considering Saxon Manor for your wedding or any event, please think carefully. When things go wrong, and they may, this is how they handle it.

The BoHo venue at Saxon Manor is beautiful, but my son and fiancé were disappointed by several…read moreimportant details and limitations that were not disclosed before booking. They later learned the BoHo package operates very differently from the Barn and Garden weddings, including a different vendor list and additional restrictions that were never clearly explained upfront. Throughout the planning process, it felt as though the Barn and Garden weddings were the priority, while BoHo couples were given less flexibility and importance despite paying significant deposits and costs. The bridal suite information stated it was available beginning at 9 AM on the wedding day. However, after booking, we were informed that practical getting-ready access would only be for approximately two hours before the ceremony. It also was not disclosed that the bride and guests would need to walk through the reception area in order to access the ceremony aisle and seating area. Before booking, we were told there was a larger gate entrance that could be used, but after booking we were informed that was not an option. This took away from the private and traditional ceremony entrance experience we believed we were reserving. They were also asked to select dishes and glassware during planning, only to later be told those selections were not guaranteed if needed for the larger Barn or Garden weddings. Additional décor restrictions were also disclosed after booking, including that candles could only be used if rented directly through the venue, and we were not permitted to modify the sweetheart table setup. Unfortunately, despite these concerns and the lack of upfront transparency regarding several operational details, Saxon Manor is still keeping our $1,600 deposit. Transparency matters when couples are making major financial decisions, and we wish these details had been clearly disclosed before signing and paying a deposit.
