I recommend Heather and Ryan to anyone looking for wedding photographers! In addition to taking excellent, vibrant photos, they were incredibly kind, funny, and helpful, and went above and beyond to help us make the wedding run smoothly. I could not be happier with the photos they took! Not only did they have great suggestions for group shots and poses, but they captured so many beautiful candid moments. Their photos are all bright, colorful, and lively. And their turnaround timing is amazing! They sent us 20+ edited "preview" photos less than two days after the wedding, and just recently sent us all completed photos, less than a month after the wedding! We did have a relatively small, short wedding, but that was so much sooner than I expected to have them! Heather and Ryan are also just AWESOME people! They are so calm and professional, but also very funny, warm, and wonderful to be around. They graciously offered to help us anytime they saw we needed assistance. My mom definitely appreciated Heather helping her bustle my extremely poofy dress! They also managed the time we scheduled for photos very well. From the day I met Heather, I was in love with her and knew her and her husband would be the perfect duo to hire as photographers for my wedding. Her energy instantly made me laugh and put me at ease. I left the meeting smiling from ear to ear, telling my husband "I love her! I am so excited for them to share our day with us!" Heather and Ryan were amazing throughout the entire process. They did our engagement shoot for us. They suggested places around the city that I hadn't even thought of, and were super flexible when the unpredictable Seattle rain got in our way. Even though we got caught in a rain storm, they are pure professionals, worked around it, and got the job done. We had such a good time. I was so in love with our engagement shoot! Heather was in contact with me weeks leading up to my wedding. I had a scare with my father, and she was unbelievably supportive, gave me ideas of how we could include him, and constantly checked in on me. I appreciate this level of compassion and it reaffirmed me that the energy I felt from her from the beginning was genuine and she is a solid good person. Her support leading up to and throughout my wedding means the most to me. The day of, they were punctual, on time, and got right to work snapping pictures of my family as we got ready. They made the whole process go smoothly, and always seemed one step ahead of everything. I honestly don't think I would have made it through the day without Heather by my side coaching me (with a few laughs along the way). I was so comfortable with Heather and Ryan that I forgot that they were taking pictures the entire day. I have a complicated family dynamic, and during our family photos, they made sure to get a picture with every combination imaginable (which is difficult, believe me). When I received my photos, I was in love with all of them! Seriously. They were everything I was hoping for and more. Heather and Ryan captured literally every moment of the entire day. The great thing about them is they edit your photos, and give you every single picture so that you are the ones who can decide which photos you like the best, not leave it up to their discretion. I think I got over 2,000 photos back. It was so much fun to relive those moments and is so special to know that I have all of those memories to keep forever. My entire family was so happy with all of the photos. Everyone keeps commenting on "They did such a great job! These are such great photos!". They made us look good, feel good, and capture precise moments that mean the most to us. I am 100% so happy with the work, and friendship, they provided! We hired Heather and Ryan for our November 2013 wedding and it was one the best choices we made for our wedding. After doing tons of research about local photographers we landed on HR Northwest Photography. The price vs. the service you receive cannot be beat. First we had our engagement shoot which went great! I, the bride, was pretty nervous at first because I didn't know what to expect doing professional pictures but Heather and Ryan made us both feel so relaxed and at ease. We received a blog post the next day and our pictures came very soon after. Now came our wedding. Ryan was out of town but Heather and Ryan's friend, who was also named Ryan and a professional photographer as well with his own business, filled in. Heather and Ryan once again did an AMAZING job! They made my husband and I feel so relaxed, as well as our bridal party and family. It was almost like we had a wedding coordinator built in because they knew exactly what to do at every moment of the day and evening. The pictures turned out phenomenal! Wonderful! When my wife and I were planning for our wedding, my wife's #1 concern was really the photographers. So, we did a lot of research on photographers, interviewed several and we settled on HR Northwest Photography - and we're sure glad we did. HR Northwest Photography did an AWESOME job entire time - from helping us understand what to expect in the planning stages to taking all of the pictures during the wedding. They have charming personalities and can really get people to smile and be happy for pictures - and this is a really important thing! They have great eyes for pictures. We had our wedding ceremony at Mt. Rainier National Park, and they really, really, really did a fantastic job in working with the natural scenery for some awesome pictures. We actually drove up and down the mountain immediately after the ceremony taking pictures at select spots. They did a great job with difficult lighting, which our venue suffered, and they know how to take pictures with fireworks!!! At the end of our reception at night we had all of our guests "play with sparklers" and they nabbed some awesome shots!!! Now we're scanning through 1,846 photos (all organized by them, of course) for getting some portrait pictures and building our wedding album! HR Northwest was the photographers for my wedding on September 29th. All I can say is WOW..PERFECT! They were very professional, on time, funny and put everyone at ease. I didn't even know they were there. I loved that the majority of the pictures were of my guests being themselves. There were the usual family pictures, however the majority were of our guests. I plan on referring my friends to HR Northwest for their weddings. All of the pictures were awesome! My husband said that at his sisters wedding the photographer was pointing them what to do. My husband and I got married about 5 weeks ago, and could not recommend Heather & Ryan more highly! We interviewed a few different photographers, but knew immediately that we wanted to work with Heather and Ryan. Not only do they do amazing work (the pictures speak for themselves!), but they are so much fun and helped to make our wedding day fun and (dare I say it?) relaxed. Heather did our engagement session, and even at 8 months pregnant, gamely schlepped around the Seattle Arboretum in the rain and got some AMAZING shots. We also laughed a lot and immediately felt very comfortable with her. That comfort and familiarity transferred immediately over to our wedding day. Heather & Ryan came to the hotel where we were getting ready (in separate rooms) and got some wonderful preparation photos. Heather was especially great in helping with some last-minute details. She was enormously helpful in helping my MOH lace up the back of my dress - how many people can say that about their photographers? At the wedding itself, Heather and Ryan worked seamlessly with our videographer, DJ, and the venue - it felt like old home week, since they'd all worked together before! One moment that stands out to me in particular...instead of a garter toss, we did a "Girls' Dance" where all the girls/women (single, married, anyone) danced together to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." Heather was in the middle of the crowd, taking photos, when the music temporarily cut out due to a technical glitch. There was a temporary "awwww," from the crowd, when suddenly Heather starts singing along at the top of her lungs, leading the rest of us in our own a cappella version and dance until the music kicked back in. Thank goodness for Heather!! Heather and Ryan were incredibly fast in getting our pictures to us, and provided a link to our photos so we can share photos with our friends and family. Heather and Ryan (and Brad!) were so easy to work with, and their work is stunning. Heather was the first wedding photographer we met with, and after 10 minutes we knew she was the one we wanted to work with. Heather and her husband Ryan photographed our engagement session. They put us at ease when we weren't sure what to expect, and we had a great time. Some of our pictures were up on the blog the next day, and we received all of them very shortly after that so we were able to use them on our Save the Dates. Heather and friend/professional photographer Brad photographed our wedding and we had so much fun working with them throughout the day. They were funny, energetic and all around easy to work with. They had great ideas for different shots, and knew exactly where they needed to be to make sure they captured all of the special moments from our wedding day. We also rented their photo booth which the printer had unfortunately broken earlier that week, but Heather was able to borrow one from a friend so we were still able to have our photo booth. She is always willing to go the extra mile. Our guests absolutely LOVED the photo booth and had a great time with the print outs they got to take home with them. OMG - Heather and Ryan are the best in the business. They are friendly, personable, wonderful, detail-oriented, loving, and they take a HUGE amount of stress out of your day as you're trying to simply look good in front of the camera. On the wedding day, Heather really took charge and took care of us - offered to get us stuff she thought we needed like water or snacks or whatever...I almost had a bit of a breakdown at one point, I was so stressed. Heather is really like a one-man wrecking crew...she's thoughtful, kind, thinks ahead, and when you purchase their photography services you get WAY more than that with her...Heather is part-photographer, part-planner, part-coordinator, part-whatever you need. She truly is an all-star and alleviated a lot of stress. She's actually a very funny gal with a great sense of humor and you can tell she loves what she does and just wants to make your day as pleasant and stress-free as possible. And Ryan is just a lot of fun to have around. He's got a great eye, he's always wandering around getting shots close up as well as far away, and they balance eachother out with the details. I'm seriously SO glad we went with them. They also took photos of our newborn this past summer and we got such precious imagery of our baby boy from them and such great first professional family photos, I couldn't have asked for more. I think these guys rock, and you really just have to stop choosing from all the photographers out there and just settle on Heather and Ryan. They really do get the job done and more so. My husband and I hired Heather and Ryan to photograph our wedding in September 2016 and we couldn't be happier with the results. We felt an immediate rapport with them when we first met over coffee, and we decided to follow our instincts and book their services. They did a tremendous job shooting the usual post-ceremony photos, and the quality of the final photos certainly exceeded our expectations. But what we really appreciate is that they took the time to interact with our guests and take lovely candid shots. We hoped they would feel comfortable enough to be part of the day instead of just observing it, thinking that would lend itself to a wider variety and better quality of shots -- and that's exactly what happened. My fiancé and I searched every photography company on the web--reading every review. We settled on HR Northwest photography because their level of experience, equipment and the fact that we would be dealing with real people... not a big corporation. We scheduled Heather and Ryan to photograph our December wedding. Heather met us at UW to take our engagement photos and did a tremendous job! Then, less than 30 days after soliciting their services, tragedy struck our family and we were forced to cancel the entire wedding. As I am sure any bride can imagine, it was devastating on both accounts. Heather and Ryan are the best!! They are a phenomenal team who take amazing photos for an affordable price. They were our wedding and engagement photographers, and I have since done another photoshoot with them because I like them so much. Right before our wedding day, Ryan had a medical emergency that meant he would have to miss our wedding which would naturally give any couple reason to panic. But, before I even heard about the situation Heather had quickly found another photographer to step in for him (funnily enough, also named Ryan!) and he was fabulous too! If it hadn't been for the replacement, I would never have known that Heather was dealing with such a scary situation during our wedding because she was such a professional the entire time. The photos turned out amazing and they also get them back to you much more quickly than the industry norm. They also give you ALL the photos, not just the ones they think are good because sometimes the ones clients like aren't necessarily the same ones that they would have picked. In addition to the multitude of beautiful photos, we have some hilarious "blooper" ones too(e.g. me making weird faces I had no idea I was making), which we love! I highly recommend Heather and Ryan as photographers for your wedding, family portraits, or any other kind of photoshoot. They are friendly, laid back (in personality but definitely not lax in their work quality!), easy to be around, and know how make everyone look their best. I have no doubt we'll be having them take more photos for us in the future. read more

I would NEVER have them take pictures of my family again. They come to a site with no ideas. We spend a lot of time standing around doing nothing. I had to come up with all the pictures that I wanted. They would spend hours and get maybe one good family picture out of 20. There were times I wouldn't even get all my pictures. I had to call to get the ones I was missing. Which is hard calling them since the mail box is full so you can NEVER leave a message. They don't reply to e mails. And when you ask for some of your money back they come up with a lot of reasons why they forgot to send it. We are STILL Waiting for our money back. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMENDED THEM TO ANYONE. read more

We met with Heather and Ryan months before our wedding and felt like they were a great match for what we were looking for. I personally really enjoyed talking to Heather especially and was very excited to have her be my photographer on our wedding day. What they really sold us on was that they were married and we would be getting two professional photographers versus one photographer and a random assistant. Another thing I was very adamant about was having a photographer that would feel confident in directing our large families were to go for pictures and keep things in a timely and organized manner. I felt like I was reassured of that. I'm giving two stars because I felt that we were not given what we had signed up for. In fact, I'm pretty upset about the lack of communication and feel a bit taken advantage of. On the day of my wedding, as I'm getting ready, in walks a lady who was super pumped up and full of energy. I was wondering, who is this? Am I forgetting a face? Come to find out, this was Ryan's second photographer. I was expecting Heather. I even asked Ryan, "Is Heather going to be here?" And all I got was, "Ivy is going to be my second shooter today." What?!? I had been told something completely different-I thought I was getting HEATHER and RYAN! Neither myself or my wedding coordinator was told this information and the way Ryan brushed off my question was very upsetting. During family photos I felt like I had to keep things going and make sure we had all our family photos we wanted (we had filled out a list of family photos we wanted and I was a very relaxed bride...this was my one time I felt like I had to take charge or else we wouldn't get the photos with family we wanted). The photos were fine. I don't feel like there was much thought or creativity with them though. I really thought from all the reviews I read and from meeting them that I would be more than happy with having them as photographers, but sadly that isn't the case. I would have definitely appreciated communication about a change from what they told us we would be getting. Pretty upsetting to have that surprise on your wedding day. They are nice, but, this is the one vendor we hired that I'm not happy with. read more
