    4-Way Combo
    Margarita G.

I order delivery through the Uber app. This was our first time eating from this restaurant. I ordered the four-way combo & 2 orders of Biscoff banana pudding. Unfortunately, the banana pudding was not delivered. I did request a refund through the Uber app regarding the banana pudding's missing from the order. As for the four-way combo. The meats order was the ribs, brisket , link, and the burnt ends. Unfortunately, the combo did not have any burnt ends, instead it seemed like extra ribs. As for the sides with the combo, we did ordered the mac & cheese and the potato salad. The mac & cheese was slightly different than other mac & cheese, I've had from other places. It seemed to have a little bit of different spices in it, a strong garlic and paprika taste. As for the potato salad, at first, I wasn't sure if it was potato salad or mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, the potato salad did not taste or seem at all like potato salad to me. They pour the barbecue sauce on top of all the meat. The only problem with that, is by the time we got the bag it was soaking wet at the bottom with the barbecue sauce that had spilled out of the container. Personally, I feel, orders for delivery or to go should have had the barbecue sauce on the side to prevent this from leaking outside of the container or in somebody's vehicle.

Overcooked, flavorless Sliced Beef Brisket Dinner with dry Mac n cheese and canned 8 Oz. Baked Beans

Bland food, ok service, to-go ambiance describes this place. I drove by and smelled the food and thought it would be a good idea to stop. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a bad idea. I ordered the brisket with two sides:Mac n cheese and baked beans. The brisket had absolutely NO FLAVOR. The mild barbecue sauce they put on it tasted old and burnt. I've never had burnt barbecue sauce before, so there's a first. The Mac n cheese was dry. Not cheesy at all. And the baked beans tasted like it was straight out of the can. Very disappointed. I could go on, but what's understood doesn't need to be explained.

Ever since Ms. Mary, the owner of Everett and Jones passed away, Sorry to say - you never know what to expect in terms of food quality from E&J these days. I happened to be in the bay near university right around the time the store opened and since they are my favorite bbq spot, decided to give them another try. I'm so glad I did. Got a 3 way with ribs, sliced beef and links with sides of potato salad and baked beans for $46.00. Again, so glad I went. Everything was delicious! The meat was cooked to perfection and tender. The sliced beef had pieces of garlic cooked into it. So good! The beans were a little too sweet for my liking and the potato salad was basic potato salad made to satisfy many different palates so it was just ok. But the star of the show was the meat and it didn't disappoint. Everything was hot and fresh. The bbq sauce was hot and there was plenty of it on the meat. One change I noticed was the walk up window. No longer are you able to walk inside the building. All orders are taken at one window and picked up at a different window. The guy taking my order was nice and friendly. He smiled a lot, told me that I Clearly hadn't been there for a few months when I commented on the new walk up window. When I mentioned I live out of town, he thanked me For stopping by on my visit to the bay. Ms. Mary would have been proud all the way around, for the food, service and the presentation this particular day!!!

I placed my order through DoorDash. I ordered a 3-meat combo plate with two sides. Had I known the food was coming from the Berkeley location, I would not have placed the order. I assumed it was coming from the Jack London Square location, which has been better in my experience. The mac and cheese was overcooked and lacked seasoning. The green beans were okay. The sausage links were fine. Unfortunately, the brisket was dry and overcooked, and the ribs were tough and mostly fat with very little meat. Overall, this was really disappointing, especially for the price. The quality was not what I expected from Everett & Jones.

Still really good Q. They changed it to ordering from outside with order windows but it makes it kind of hard to hear them without a mic or sticking head in window. Prices have definitely jumped since last time I was here. I guess that's inflation though, everything gets more expensive. Been craving E&J for a hot minute!

My 3-pc rib and potatoe salad meal. Love it.

E&J's is always gonna hit the spot when I start craving BBQ in the spring-summer season. The staff are nice and work quickly, they are attentive with taking the order which I love. As you wait, you can look at photos from the past and view commemorative tributes to family and friends of the business, which I like. Order placed, food packaged, craving satisfied. I'm an easy-going guy so I just get 3-pc of ribs with double potato salad. I've only ever been to the Berkeley location due to its ease in access and parking availability, I've not tried the Oakland location, so I might need to swing by over there too. Sharing photos of my food and their sign; if you're hesitant to try E&J's- don't be! It's a family style local business that is a staple for Bay Area heads who love good BBQ.

Brisket was okay but potato salad &BBQ chicken was good. Service was quick and pricey BBQ. Ambiance was not bad maybe during it's ok for dining outside.

First time coming here! Came and got some bbq, the service was quick and friendly. The place was compact, when people started coming in, but we didn't wait long at all. I got the brisket dinner plate with green beans and Mac and Cheese. I really enjoyed the brisket slices, it was tender and juicy. The Mac and cheese was cheesy, how I like it, but lacked a little seasoning for me as well as the green beans. I would've liked a little bit more seasoning on those. Nevertheless, I used the bbq sauce to support the flavor. I also got the hot for the sauce, but it wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be. I would definitely go back for the sliced brisket.

Absolutely delicious! We were able to place our orders quickly and we're out the door by the time the line started. The links weren't too hot, the mac and cheese was cheesy and the potato salad was good. Food was fresh and tasty.

Very expensive, they run out of menu items early in the day, but the portions are big and the barbecued meats are great.

This place is located in a food hall, so there are plenty of other choices. If you're looking for barbecue that focuses on the meat first and doesn't rely on drowning everything in sauce, this place deserves a visit. I ordered a plate with brisket, a pork rib, hot link, collard greens, a side of BBQ sauce, and a drink for Super Duper. Brisket Without question, this was the star of the meal. I specifically asked for the fatty point, and it absolutely delivered. The brisket was incredibly tender with a beautiful bark, plenty of rendered fat, and a deep smoky flavor throughout. It had just the right balance of salt, pepper, and smoke without any one flavor overpowering the others. Honestly, this is the kind of brisket you don't even need sauce for, but I couldn't resist trying it with their BBQ sauce anyway. Pork Rib I ended up with an end piece, which can sometimes be a little dry, but that wasn't the case here. It was surprisingly tender and packed with flavor. The smoke came through nicely, and the seasoning had a great balance of pepper and salt. It wasn't falling off the bone--which, in my opinion, is exactly how properly cooked barbecue should be--but it pulled cleanly with each bite. I'd absolutely order the ribs again. Hot Link I've had plenty of hot links that were overly dense or aggressively spicy. These weren't. The casing had that satisfying snap when you bit into it, and the sausage itself was juicy and flavorful. The heat level was very approachable--enough to notice but never overwhelming--allowing the smoky, seasoned meat to remain the focus. A really well-made sausage. BBQ Sauce I mixed the mild and hot BBQ sauces together, and that ended up being the perfect combination for my taste. The mild sauce added sweetness and tang while the hot sauce contributed just enough kick without masking the flavor of the meat. That combination complemented everything on the tray exceptionally well. Collard Greens The collard greens were another pleasant surprise. They were well-seasoned, flavorful, and not overly spicy. The greens still had some texture without being tough. My only complaint is that I wish there had been a little more smoked meat mixed in. The flavor was definitely there--I just wanted a bit more of the meaty goodness. Overall, Pig in a Pickle impressed me from start to finish. The quality of the smoked meats really stands out, especially the brisket, which was easily one of the better briskets I've had in the Bay Area. The rib was excellent, the hot links were flavorful without being overly heavy, and even the sides held their own. I'll definitely be making the drive back to Emeryville to work my way through more of the menu. If the rest of their offerings are anywhere near as good as this tray, I can see why they've built such a strong reputation. Highly recommended--especially if you're a brisket lover. Simply Wonderful!!
