This was our sixth visit to this restaurant, but unfortunately, the last two visits have been subpar. It feels like the quality has been lost. Our waitress seemed completely clueless, and we were overcharged $18 for two portions of cheese curds because, according to her, no one had told her to use the Sunday menu. Not a great experience. The atmosphere is still wonderful, and we really enjoyed sitting on the patio. Unfortunately, the food was overly salty, and the potato chips tasted store-bought. So the first time we were here it was amazing but this time it was subpar at best. Don't know if they have a new chef or what but the food was not good. Started with the bread and crabcakes and the bread was amazing and definitely fresh but the crabcakes needed more crab and flavor. Basically everything needed more flavor. We also ordered a bottle of wine which our server struggled with and never came over to refill the glasses. Then the entree's; my husband's bolognese was bland and desperately needed at least salt and pepper. Then the real problem was my steak which was supposed to be medium came out well done and then classically when it was recooked came out rare or medium rare if you are being generous. Then the waitress said she would check back and she didn't so I had to get salt myself from the server station which is kinda ridiculous especially when paying $54 for a steak that already has no seasoning which is why they offer free sauces which makes a lot of sense now. When she finally did come back I said it was under but not waiting for it to be overcooked again so reheating it at home with the cold side of mushrooms I ordered WITH my steak. I did talk to the manager after and he was not really helpful or sympathetic and I was really talking to him so in my review I could say well at least management cares but that is not the case here. I gave 2 stars because their drinks are good and the ambiance is nice and the hostess was super friendly and was the star employee after our visit. Also we paid for everything even the cold mushrooms and over/under cooked steak! At minimum also remake my mushrooms or comp them. Would I eat here again hopefully not but it is locationally desirable for me and my in-laws and have lots of GF options so might have to and if I do hopefully they will have made things better. read more

Tried out Everett Farms for brunch with my mom and enjoyed the experience. Our server was very welcoming and did a great job answering our questions. We did go a bit later in the day so the restaurant was very empty but our food came very quickly. The atmosphere is casual but well done and my mom loved the music they were playing. We started with the cheese curds which were so good and gluten free! This was my favorite part of the meal for sure. I haven't had a cheese curd in probably 10 years and these were fantastic, especially accompanied by the truffle ranch sauce. I got the arugula and grilled chicken salad as my main. It was good but nothing to write home about. The chicken was well seasoned and plentiful and the dried cherries were a nice touch. Overall, I enjoyed it but won't be left thinking about it again. My mom got the smoked ham, brie, and pears sandwich and had similar thoughts. She enjoyed it but wasn't blown away. She did note that she wished it had some sort of honey mustard or a sauce other than mayo. The portion for this sandwich was huge and could easily be two meals. All in all, we enjoyed Everett Farms and would come back. I appreciate how well they label their menu with gluten free options and the service. read more

We've driven by this restaurant SO many times and have yet to come by until now. What a fun experience we had! When you pull up to the plaza you would think anything of the restaurant but when you go inside it's a fun colorful experience. When we were seated we were brought waters and menus. We took some time to look at the menus but ultimately took our server's suggestions on drinks. I ended up having a virgin Rose Colored Glasses drink and absolutely loved it. The drinks were large and I felt they were worth the price. My husband got an old fashioned. To start we got the cheese curds, and when I tell you these cheese curds still live rent free in my mind I kid you not. They were so good, the cheese was battered in a tempura batter with a truffle cream sauce and it made for such an incredible dish! For our entrees we got the pork chop with the brown butter sauces and bavette with a red wine reduction. The pork chop was great with the brown butter you just gotta make sure you mix it up, and the red wine was a bit too salty for me but it was okay because I ended up loving the steak by itself! For our sides we got the grilled zucchini under the snacks option instead of the sides option because I wanted all the fixings. It was a great choice! The fixings really made and I could eat a plate of that and just be happy (with the cheese curds of course). The wiped potatoes were great as well. Now I was going to pass on dessert because I was SO full already, but twist my arm when you tell me the cookie dough ice cream is a must try. It had real cookie dough chunks on top and bottle and the vanilla ice cream was not boring vanilla, I ate almost half of that bowl and couldn't stop. The chocolate chip cookie dough was house made and it was the perfect blend of sweet and salty that tied the whole ice cream bowl together. Can't recommend that enough as well. All in all, we had a great experience! It was so fun to see so many regulars and so many new folks who came in to dine at the same time as us and we all peeked to see who ordered what before we ordered and got some great recs as you can see! We came to Everett Farms for a birthday celebration. The place has a small dining area inside, and an outdoor patio as well. Ambiance and decòr was good and I liked the vibe of the place. During the time we were there, they sat us outside. Unfortunately, there is a Metra train line right outside, which may not be a big deal as the metra doesn't come too often, but on this day, the Amtrak train came quite often and for some reason there was construction on the train line, so it was very noisy and unpleasants so we had to relocate inside. Our server was attentive and pleasant, and got all our orders, correct. I got the grilled chicken sandwich minus the pesto sauce and it was decent. Everyone else unfortunately didn't like their meal, with comments of too salty, or just not good. When they gave us our food, which came out Quickly, the person who placed my plate ended up, spilling water all over me, as the plate tipped over a glass. That was yet not a fun experience. We also ordered dessert, I got the crème brûlée and it was actually pretty good. We did waitat least 15 minutes to even get our bill, which for me at least, you should never be waiting to pay. We all agreed that this place was so-so, but it wasn't worth the drive. Probably wouldn't come back here again. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located near the front entrance, the men's bathroom consisted of a urinal and toilet. I always wondered whether I should lock the door, since there's both urinal and toilet. But I figured you want privacy when you're using the toilet, so I locked the door behind me. Everything wasn't working order and seems somewhat clean. This is the most deceiving restaurant I have ever been to!!!! The atmosphere was very pretty and the restaurant and bar itself was very clean. The service was good as well as our waitress was very nice. This was mine and my girlfriend's first time having cheese curds in a while due to a gluten allergy and I will admit the cheese curds along the truffle sauce were phenomenal. HOWEVER We ordered the fish and chips and the risotto and it was quite possibly the worst meals we have ever had at a restaurant we had high hopes with the very large gluten-free menu however we just ended up disappointed. read more

In short. It is just a beat behind on most things. Servers to loud. Slow uptakes on the pace of the meal. Forgetting to bring Tabasco for gumbo. Having to track down the server to get a check. The food. Caesar salad was tasty. No anchovies offered or pepper grinder. The pasta was al dented good. The Bolognese sauce was bland. Uneventful. Needing some flavor. A table to farm restaruant that I was an invited guest. I selected two items from their extensive (mostly Gluten free) menu. The Ahi Tartar was very salty (a lession learned: to only order sushi items from a sushi restaurant). The Steak Fritte was tough and the au juice (which was more of a thick gravy) was also very salty. BTW, we had to pay for Bread. Service was good, but I would not return to this restaurant unless they got a new chef. read more

The outdoor seating was great, although the nearby train can get a little loud. Service was somewhat attentive. The original water bottle brought to the table was only slightly chilled with no ice. Towards the end of the meal the waiter came by with a pitcher that had a few cubes of ice. The 2 pieces of fried cod and fry's were not just overpriced, but were not properly cooked. The fish was tough. It should have been tender and flakey. I've had better/more cod for less at Austin's and other restaurants. The crab cakes were very tasty, but appeared to contain snow crab shreds rather than the more expensive lump crab. One other person had the shrimp salad. No comment was made. Very few people were in the restaurant. Had we gone to Lazy Dog like we originally planned, that would have been much busier and the food better and more consistent. read more

My husband and I had a delicious dinner in the Lounge. I had the spring risotto and it is one of my favorite dishes and among the top risotto's I've ever had. I recently visited Everrett Farms with my coworkers for dinner and the experience was good. We were a large party so I called them in advance to reserve a spot for 10 people. We ordered a lot of appetizers and drinks for the table. We ordered a hummus spread with pita bread, mushroom croquettes and cheese curds for shareable. The hummus spread was really good, cheese curds were a bit too greasy and mushroom croquettes probably had more potatoes than mushrooms so that was a bummer. For drinks I tried a mezcal drink and it was pretty good, the sour taste in it was overpowering the bitter taste of Mezcal which was good. I ordered a Zucchini noodles main course for myself and it was good. It had a lot of mushrooms so I was satisfied. My coworkers ordered steak, potato and mushroom leak, chicken breast, and penne as well and they all liked the food. For deserts, my coworkers ordered creme brûlées and apple tart and they were quite delighted with how it turned out! Overall, Everett Farms is a good spot to get dinner and drinks. I was here for the first time today. I was expecting a special meal, but it was awful. It may have been the worst fish I have ever had. I ordered the cod with fries lunch. Both cod and fries were tasteless. The cod portion was very small, disguised by a lot of breading. The fries looked good, but again they were tasteless. Service was fine. He also recommended their sister restaurant, Inovasi in Lake Bluff, that we'll try next time. bar: This is a serious craft cocktail bar. They have a separate bar, the Old Mill Lounge, in the same space, but it was closed. I drank a Revolution Hazy Hero ($8 as of 02/25) and it was great. food: It was the brunch menu, so my wife had biscuits and gravy ($4 for gravy side and $3 for biscuit, as of 02/25) and it a great rendition of that midwestern breakfast classic. I had BLT with house chips ($17 as of 02/25) and it was exceptional, with extra credit for the amazing bread. details: Very nice casual space. Reservations suggested during peak times. I went to Everett Farms for dinner on a Tuesday evening at 6PM. There were three of us and we made a reservation in advance. When we walked in, we were greeted by a very friendly hostess and we were seated immediately. Also note: a parking lot is available for easy parking in front of and behind the restaurant. Our waiter, Taylor, was wonderful. He was so friendly and funny, it was almost like I knew him. He was also very knowledgeable about the menu. To start, we ordered cocktails. Taylor let us know that some of the cocktails are made in batches ahead of time because they're so popular. I enjoyed the Collie's Pity Party drink but it is on the sweeter side. I liked that some of the cocktails are named are employees. This one specifically is named after the president of Everett Farms! We ordered the Whipped 3 Cheese Schmear with grilled bread for an appetizer and it was delicious! A good balance of sweet and savory and the grilled bread was nice I had the potato and leek soup and my friend ordered the wild mushroom. The potato and leek reminded me of a loaded potato because it included bacon. I thought the soup had good flavor but I didn't like the consistency as much, it seemed a bit watery for me. My friend loved the mushroom soup and she orders it every time she dines there. She said it's very earthy and refined. For dinner, we had the small grilled wedge salad with steak and the blackened mahi mahi. The small salad was a good size for someone who isn't very hungry but I wish I ordered the larger portion, I would've been more satisfied. Overall, the salad was very good and I would order it again. I loved the flavors of the Roquefort blue cheese and the herb ranch dressing. My friend said the amount of blackened seasoning on the mahi mahi completely overpowered the fish. He could only taste the charred seasoning instead of the fish. The polenta and salsa verde were nice though. read more

Justin was our waiter. He's a very nice guy and a phenomenal server. Part of the reason we came here is because of all of many the gluten-free options for our son with celiac. We ordered a variety of dishes and each dish was excellent. No complaints. The blackened mahi-mahi was outstanding. The cheese curds, which were clearly not frozen from a box, were outstanding and caused a small fight between our kinder. The smoky old-fashioned was phenomenal and the desserts were a big hit.
