Ambiance was lovely. My wife and I love the cozy feel of it. We also like the fact there is another part that is used for what looks like cocktails. Very clever. The cheese curds were delicious. The truffle aioli was a little overwhelming but still good flavor of you absolutely love truffle. My wife loved the clams and the crispy cod. I enjoyed the Caesar salad and the steak frites. I'm not sold on the sauce that goes on the steak frites. Either way the food was delicious. I would only say the service is a little slow but friendly. We have been back since our first visit. This place has very fresh ingredients to make flavorful and nice food. However, is it worth the cost? Probably not. Wild mushroom risotto was delicious and had a good amount of mushrooms. Salmon was prepared a nice medium although I would have preferred a bit more rare for my personal taste but they didn't ask how I wanted it prepared. Cod was lightly battered with a nice crisp fry. Skip the flourless chocolate cake. It had an odd fake chocolate flavor and texture - definitely not worth the cost. In summary, come here if you want fresh ingredients and are willing to pay for the farm-to-table experience. Save your money and skip the dessert. read more

The place is very cute. Very bright and has a very nice patio. However, the service was not good. We were not ready to order right away, and asked for a few more minutes. It took 15 minutes for her to come back once we were were ready, (we needed to ask another server to find her and let her know that we were ready).When she brought the food, she never asked if we needed anything else. We needed, salt, pepper, ketchup, etc. it took a while to get it, and so my son's food was getting cold. Also, they charged three dollars extra for gluten-free bread. I don't have a problem with that, but the sandwich I got ended up with the small piece of bread from the end of the loaf. Also, not a big deal if the bread matches, but it was a little awkward on the way it was presented. If you're going to charge three dollars extra, bring a full piece of bread. Partway into my meal, the server brought homemade chips and said that she had forgotten that it was included in my meal. They were very good, but it would've been nice to have them at the start. This restaurant is supposed to be farmed to table but, that doesn't necessarily seem true. My son had an omelette which he said was very good and my sandwich was good, but it was nothing special for the price they charge. We won't go back, and honestly, too bad because there are few choices in Lake Forest and this place really has great potential with its beautiful location and how cute they have it decorated. They need to step it up in service and food quality. It was not busy so I'm not sure why the service was not good. read more

Came in on a Monday to catch up with a friend and this was the perfect destination. We got there on the early side and enjoyed a glass of wine from and excellent wine list 1 a lot of unique offerings. Our waitress was great, letting us taste a small sip before selecting our wine. We moved on to the pumpkin seed hummus; delish and unique. Wish it was served with fresh rather than oiled/buttered toast but it was still delish. We really wanted to love this restaurant. This was our anniversary and first time and we were there for lunch. People were wonderful and treated us with care and professionalism. Very nice. We asked for a quiet table and they accommodated us. All this. Was perfect. We ordered a a couple different food items to share to get an idea of their menu. The mushroom soup was wonderful. We then ordered and split crab cakes, a BLT and the apple tart for dessert. The crab cakes, BLT and dessert all had the same taste/ after taste. We couldn't identify it but suspected it might have been cardamom (just a guess). The same very heavy taste in each dish and not good. Very disappointed. Was a costly lunch. Not sure we will give this restaurant another chance. Sorry for such a negative review. read more

I decided to try this place for an early new years eve dinner. With good reviews and a solid menu I was excited as I made my online reservation on their website, but some things fell flat in the end. For starters, we arrived to a mostly empty restaurant. They looked up my reservation and promptly sat us... at what can only be described as the worst seats in the space. It was literally up against an emergency exit door. I'd say there shouldn't be a table there in general, having to move furniture in an emergency isn't ideal (and possibly a safety violation?). We asked to move to a booth and were allowed to, but with only 4 other people in the restaurant who were in groups of 2 at booths already I have to wonder why they would seat us in that spot in the first place. I also have to say that it was a bit cold in the restaurant which was unpleasant. Moving on, the menu was a small prix fixe menu with about 3 choices per category. This wasn't advertised on their website and while I understand why they would want to do this I was disappointed because the options didn't appeal to me. So at this point, we're off to a rocky start. The space is nice overall. I like the decor and style, it matches their concept well. Tonight they had the lights dim for that fancy new years dinner vibe which was nice but didn't make for the best pictures. Our server was excellent! She was friendly and familiar in a very comforting way, I'd say she saves this visit a full star just for her service. They do some of the important service stuff here such as a bottle of water for the table and replacement silverware between courses. For starters I got bruschetta (not my first choice but the only option I didn't dislike) and my friend had the chicken liver pate. The bruschetta had a great balance of flavor and the bread it was served on was a perfect vessel. My friend loved their pate so I tried a small bite. The pickled vegetables layered in brought a nice break from the rich chicken liver and the bread was, again, perfect. Next course. I went with risotto and my friend chose the Caesar salad with blackened shrimp. My risotto was cooked just right and we all know that is difficult to achieve. I wasn't blown away by it. Mostly a cheesy flavor that at least warmed me up. My friend, once again, loved hers. The salad looked great and I stole one of her shrimp. That shrimp was the best bite of the night for me. Expertly cooked and seasoned. Moving on to the main course. I ordered the smoked pork and my friend went with the scallops. Im not sure what I was expecting the pork to look like but this was not the piece of pork I was expecting. It was on the small side and had a bit too much fat for my liking. The biggest disappointment was the flavor though. It tasted like nothing but smoke. I was expecting a lot of seasoning on a smoked pork dish but this didn't hit that mark. Its served on a bed of lentils (I'm not a fan of lentils) with a side of broccolini. They serve this dish in a bowl which made the broccolini impossible to cut through but it had a nice flavor when I managed to get a bite. I'd cut back some of the stem, it was honestly too much and not texturally appealing. My friend raved about her scallops. They did indeed look like perfection. The crust and doneness looked to be spot on, and the puree and seasoning rounded out the dish for an excellent bite. Final course, dessert. This was the one course that offered me something I actually wanted! I ordered the orange citrus cake, my friend had creme brulee. So for me this was hit and miss. The orange flavor (I'm thinking it's a liquor) was fantastic. Drizzled with a mild chocolate sauce and served with ice cream with little pops of salt mixed in. A really great combination when you get it all in one bite! But the cake itself wasn't very moist, in fact it was almost bread-like. I loved the flavor but the execution missed the mark. The creme brulee was devoured and enjoyed as well. No complaints from my companion, she loved her meal through and through. So it's clear I didn't love my meal. That said, when I saw the menu options I expected that result. My experience was really let down by just that one fact, and some warning online or while making the reservation would have been crucial. I feel certain they can do better. Thankfully at least one of us loved our food, so that fact and the great service nets this spot a middle of the road score. read more

We went with my husband and my two grown up kids on Saturday night for dinner to the Everett Farms. Our waitress blonde beautiful lady with this deep voice and the most wonderful smile and caring spirit. Every time we come i look for her because she's so unique. Every word that comes out of her mouth is kind . She made our entire evening so pleasant. We were so hungry and she went out of her way to get our appetizers as fast as possible. Everything was delicious plus her smile!! We were scare of dining outside because of getting cold , the outside is a joke they have everything cover and it's so warm and nice. Plus much less crowded!!! I don't really missed being on top of each other's back We loved everything Thank you so much. Cute farm to table cafe. The interior had a farmhouse feel, clean. When we walked in, the restaurant was empty, and no one was at the front to greet us. We walked all the way into the restaurant to find one server. It was a random weekday at 3, so that was understandable, but it was not a good first impression. We were glad to find a happy hour menu, but the server didn't even know they had happy hour or how it worked... We only ordered small bites and drinks from the happy hour menu. The food itself was fine, good even, but had it not been happy hour pricing, it wouldn't have been worth it. Except, our takeout Roasted Beets Salad was great. read more

Every single dish was a winner--the mushroom soup was rich and comforting, the whipped potatoes were light, creamy, and totally addictive, and the ice cream was downright delectable. And fair warning: the homemade habanero sauce is MUCHO CALIENTE!! (TOTALLY Worth it, though!) As great as the food was, the service is what really made the night. First time at this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. Enjoyed lunch with college aged son and both our meals were excellent.
