Formal Incident Statement Date of Incident: January 24, 2026 Location: Encore Hotel - East Lobby, Boston, Massachusetts Involved Agency: Everett Police Department On January 24, 2026, my sisters and I were at the Encore Hotel in the East Lobby attempting to return our brother's phone and room key to him. Our brother was a registered guest at the hotel. We approached hotel security and calmly explained that we were trying to assist him by returning his belongings. We asked whether hotel security could call his room to confirm whether he was upstairs so he would know that we had his phone. Initially, Everett Police officers on scene indicated this request would be allowed. While speaking with hotel security, I asked the security supervisor to contact his manager so the matter could be resolved appropriately. The security supervisor refused this request on multiple occasions and stated that he did not have to contact a manager because he "hold the power." The security supervisor then continued to argue with my sister and stepped into her personal space, moving close to her face. This behavior continued even after I told my sister take steps backward in an attempt to create distance and de-escalate the situation. Shortly afterward, the hotel security supervisor became involved and began yelling directly in my sister's face, despite me remaining calm. The supervisor then ordered my sister off the property. After my sister stated that the manager's behavior appeared prejudiced, I was treated as "guilty by association" and was also ordered to leave the property. The supervisor and Everett Police officers began yelling in my sister and I faces, unprovoked, while we were simply attempting to help our brother. The security supervisor escalated the situation further by involving the Everett Police because he did not like my sister disposition, despite the fact that I was calm, cooperative, and not causing any disturbance. This resulted in the police being used to remove us rather than to de-escalate the situation. All Everett Police officers on scene refused to provide their names or badge numbers when requested. Officer Descriptions (Names and Badge Numbers Refused) Officer 1: White male, late 50s, bald, brown eyes, half-oval/almond-shaped eyes, approximately 5'6" tall. Officer 2: Black male, late 50s, dark brown skin tone, short fade haircut, brown eyes, approximately 6'2" tall. Officer 3: Black female, early 30s, caramel-brown skin tone, wearing braided or woven hairstyle, brown eyes, approximately 5'5" tall. Additional Officers: Two additional Everett Police officers were present but did not speak during the incident. The officers chose to side with the corporation rather than assist civilians who were acting lawfully and attempting to de-escalate the situation. We were forcibly removed from the Encore property and made to wait outside in approximately 8-degree weather for about 15 minutes while waiting for a rideshare. This occurred despite the absence of any threat, disorderly conduct, or refusal to comply. The conduct of hotel security management, and the Everett Police officers was hostile, unprofessional, and appeared discriminatory, particularly toward Black women who were acting lawfully and respectfully. read more

I would like to commend police officers J. Dahl, Gilgallon & Gottas for there diligence in retrieving my stolen purse. These officers treated me very respectful & very efficient with this situation. One of the worst police stations I ever dealt with. They arrived on a scene where I got into an accident and did everything to make it worse. They called their towing people to steal my vehicle and take it away with all of my belongings in it without giving me a chance to retrieve them, including my medication's and inhaler and my grandmother's medication's. They told me that the towing company didn't even wanna speak to me even though they're the ones taking my vehicle without my permission. Complete assholes would not recommend them. Huge shout-out to EPD. They were present at an eviction proceeding today and did an incredible job of keeping everyone calm and helped move the process along while being reasonable and working with all parties involved. Tough times out there for sure but these 2 cops did what was needed and i feel like they were looking out for everyone's best interest. I thank them for that! read more

Since I've lived in Everett for over 2 years I've never felt so safe about living in Everett because of our law enforcement officers. It is with great sadness that I write this review. Coming from a long line of police officers I had so much faith when I called police in Everett when they were needed. I was met with a cop who was in the last 30 minutes of his shift. He spent a total of 8 minutes at the scene of this felony assault and burglary. No bedside manner no empathy. Never actually making it to the exact scene of the crime for evidence. His supervisor had to be called at a later time to recover additional supporting information. This incident was mid June. Fast forward I have not had a repose from Detective Todd Israel in over 60 days. Mind you after several attempts to call him, I have actually never spoken to this person over the phone. He must be too busy too care and this is NOT public service. This person that caused such extreme life threatening harm is STILL NOT arrested. Even after being charged with several felonies as EVERETT PD is not a pro-active department and does not go after those with felonies. They just wait to cross paths. Do you not understand what kind of danger this puts people in!? While I understand and empathize with the extreme job that these officers have, they fall short when people are truly victimized and it leaves such a horrible feeling to realize that they cannot be trusted to do their job anymore. While I would never wish any harm and pray for them I still can't help but feel extremely discouraged and unsafe. It is not about keeping the general public safe it's about appeasing law makers to not lose your job. DO NOT FORGET WHY YOU STARTED, please I'm pleading with you. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. Every time I have called the EPD they have been rude and unhelpful. I've called for help and they actually wanted to press charges on me even though I had called for help. I was also in a domestic violence situation and they let it happen. They never responded to the call. I have never and defiantly won't feel safe walking around Everett with these police officers in charge. I have been raped walking home and the EPD did nothing about it. What do they have police for ? read more

Here's an interaction I had yesterday with the Everett police. Instead of going to bed after work (a little later than normal because it was my sister's last day of her summer visit here), my whole household got embroiled in a terrifying domestic violence situation where we were confronted by a 17 year old girl being physically attacked by her her boyfriend. She screamed literal bloody murder as he physically attempted to force her back into his apartment, while she was forcibly trying to get away. My daughter personally witnessed the struggle while the rest of the neighborhood heard it. We called 911, who took nearly 10 minutes to arrive, despite the cop shop literally being a block from my house. In the meantime, the girl broke free and my daughter brought her into our home for safety while we waited for the cops to get there. When they finally arrived, EPD officers Rizzo and Foucks immediately made it clear that they were under impressed by our conjoined report of what had just happened. They said to the girl, "did he punch you or kick you?", and when she didn't say yes, they made as if to simply walk away. I was shocked and asked (as did my family members) "did they not consider being forcibly, physically being drug into an apartment against your will assault?!" And Rizzo replied, "it doesn't matter what I think, it matters what the courts think." Already decided for her, what the outcome of her case would be. I pushed the point, "how can you not consider that assault? If it's not assault, then what was it?! Kidnapping?!", for a while, until it became clear that he was getting irritated by my questioning. They then left the victim in my home and went to talk to the perpetrator. A few minutes later, officer Foucks came over and, from the sidewalk, shouted "you can send her out now." In a clearly unfriendly, irritated fashion. My sister and daughter had watched from a distance the interaction with the boyfriend and THE COPS DID NOTHING. They stood by while the girl gathered her dog and a jacket and escorted her off the property. And that was it. No arrest for the guy attacking her, no citation, no case number, nothing. There were 4 women witnesses apart from the victim who were freely reporting what had transpired, and they did nothing. Their attitudes from the beginning made it clear that, to them, it was nothing. What kind of message does this convey to this young woman? That she's not entitled to help when her life is endangered? What does it communicate to us, as reporters, that our voices are irrelevant? What about the message to the boyfriend, that the girl's life is his own to do with as he pleases? THEY DID NOTHING! No community police response, where they might have pointed her toward social services, no message other than "all of you are wasting our time". How might their response have been different if there had been a man in our house with us, verifying our account? The girl told us that her mother had died from cancer the week before, we don't know if this is true. When it was over, my daughter walked with her to a relatives place, and came back with the sense that she had absolutely no support, anywhere, which makes it pretty likely they she'll end up back at that terrible boyfriend's house and just get caught up in a endless cycle of abuse. The whole thing was extraordinarily distressing. So, I couldn't get to bed till well after 4:00 pm, and am now 4 hours late for work. My roommate is triggered by her recollections of traumatic events when she was younger. My 17 year old (black) daughter just learned a salient lesson on how safe she isn't in this country. When we, as members of our community, are beset by violence, we are supposed to be able to turn to our police departments for help and to uphold the law. When we can't even count on that, what on earth is next?! read more

It appears that the first of the month is when the police get walking orders to give more tickets. I have seen more people pulled over since the first than in all of my time in Everett. read more

It is now Feb. 24th and I had an accident in Everett on 12/18/15 and STILL my insurance company does NOT have the police report of the accident and I have been stuck unable to get my car repaired unless I use my OWN deductible .. for an accident that was blatantly not my fault.. even the police officer who took my report said I was not at fault! read more
