It's $8 to get in and a beer is $5, with huge steins and bottles for a bit more money. July 12-14th this year. They have a pretty legit German band and as the night goes on and the beer flows more smoothly the dance floor opens up for all the old-timers to get down to songs that we've never heard but I guess if you came over on the boat in the last 70 years you know them. :) There's some balloon animal stuff, a soccer goal kicking thing and other kid stuff to keep them occupied. They have Sourdough pretzels, Bratwurst with Kraut and Mustard, Schnitzel and Goulash to munch on at your table while you get sloppy and promise each other you're going to go to Red Rocks every week next year. You know what I mean. Make sure you designate a driver beforehand. It's pretty good beer.

The admission price was reasonable, there was a wide range of classic German beer to choose from, and the food was good if a bit overpriced. The setting on the outskirts of Morrison was lovely, and the shelters provided a good bit of shade, appreciated on a hot day. The live music was good considering the festival size. On the downside, they sold about 650 Groupons this year, and it seems they weren't ready for that impact. I arrived fairly early on Sunday and in retrospect was thrilled that I only spent 10 minutes in line, as when leaving I observed absolutely absurd lines -- I expect those later arrivals spent an hour between the three lines to get the included admission, beer, and brat.

Seat 48 was in the literal middle and at eye level w the musicians so it was perfect. I did pay scalper prices (3x) for them though (AXS fees were ridiculous). We came prepared with 18" wide seat cushions (they were crazy about enforcing the size at the gate w a ruler). I did my research and we showed up early, like 4:30p to tailgate. Picked up some sandwiches from Carmine Lonardo's to go with some wine; they were perfect. We chose to park in the Lower South Lot to be closer to the stage since we had lower seats, but instead of walking up to the ramp, we came across and took the complimentary shuttle to the Upper North lot entrance FOR THE WIN, as we would only have to deal with going down stairs instead of the hill to get to the South side ramp. Leaving the venue though was a bit of a challenge. Actually, a bit of a clusterfuck. We didn't even try to turn on the car and just sat in the parking lot for about 30 minutes to let the other cars clear out. Overall, great experience and would definitely do it again.

The views, atmosphere, and energy of the crowd are something you really have to experience for yourself. We took an Uber and got dropped off right near the entrance. We arrived around 7 PM, got through the line quickly, and still found great seats in the middle-upper section. The food and drinks were reasonably priced, and I liked that the show started early and ended around midnight. Red Rocks is definitely a bucket-list venue. Whether it's a concert, yoga, or another event, it's worth experiencing at least once. I can't wait to go back!

There was a small section near the front, with some handicapped and regular spots. So we parked there, wondering if they don't get a big crowd because there were only a few spots. Apparently you park before you get to the building, the lot we parked in usually goes to the older folks. Lesson learned. We saw RFK there, a one-man show about Bobby Kennedy. I was a little dubious about it, but the actor did a fantastic job! It kept my attention and I learned quite a bit. James got a standing ovation from all of us there. I don't know how he memorized all those lines. The theater itself is really cute, the doors to the stage/seating are really memorable. They also offered coffee, wine, other drinks, and all kinds of little snacks. The glass of wine was $5. And you can bring it inside with you while you watch. The seats were not super comfortable, but they were more comfortable than most other theaters. This is key when you're sitting down for 2+ hours. They were very low to the ground though, like sitting on a kid's trainer potty. Not sure how the older folks got up and down since it meant squatting a little low. This brings me to the audience. I'm not sure if it was the play subject matter, or the theater, or just the culture of theater in general, but we were the youngest people there by far. It didn't bother me at all, but the age gap was pretty noticeable. It made me want to write a stellar review about this little theater to get more young people to come appreciate it!! I saw that Monty Python's Spamalot will be coming through this year. And guess who's going? This girl. And maybe you??

The play was called The Women of Lockerbie and I was blown away by how good it was. The writing, directing, and set all hit their marks, but the acting was simply transcendental. All the actors were very good, especially the three leads who were able to draw the audience into the story without getting to button pushy with the audience's emotions. I hate when I feel like I'm being manipulated emotionally and this performace was able to bring me along for the ride without that feeling of being used. This play is only open another week, so if you want to see it you better hussle up to Evergreen!
