I've been using Evergreen Eco Pest since moving into my home in 2014 (back then, they were known as Green Apple Pest Management) and have never even considered using another company. Why? Well, I'll tell you... Number one, they are super respectful of my home environment and go above and beyond to accommodate my fastidiousness (I mean, I'm a great host but I'm also really fussy). They'll put on as many layers of shoe booties as I hand them and always with a smile. Is there an area of your home you prefer they don't spray, or furniture they should be careful around? Tell them once and they'll remember the next time they come back. "Elegant" isn't a word one typically reaches for when describing an extermination service but for Evergreen, it works. Number two, THEIR PRODUCTS ARE EFFECTIVE. Roaches = DEAD. UPSIDE DOWN DEAD. No fumes, no residue, no mess whatsoever, and they'll address whatever questions / concerns you may have. Fortunately, I've never had rodent issues, but just the same, they insist on setting a few traps in potentially vulnerable areas. These guys know know their stuff (and even make their own rodent bait). Number three, they are fellow animal lovers and so you know their products are 100% safe for your pets. My cat doesn't tend to like men in general, but he likes JP who always takes the time to greet him on his terms. Number four, they are very responsive and if you're like me (see a roach and panic, needing immediate service), they'll be there ASAP. Number five, the value. I highly recommend signing up for their QUARTERLY TREATMENT PLAN which A) permanently locks their current pricing in for you and B) is the proper way to keep any insect sightings to a bare minimum. Trust me on this, quarterly maintenance is the way to go. No matter how spotless you are, this is NYC. We hadn't had any cockroach issues in our co-op unit for 10 years. Then we were inundated. Our co-op's exterminators were useless and my own efforts, although an improvement, were still insufficient. We contacted Evergreen for a rat issue on our stoop. They were quick to reply and come to our home. I wasn't home, but my husband said the guy was fine, but nothing to write home about. We took his advice and had the area fixed, as well as having him bait the area. He assessed our backyard too, but didn't actually bait anything there, even though there was evidence of rats being there. The reason for the low rating is a second follow up call I made. We saw a RAT run across the room INSIDE our home about a week after the first time they came out. The rat most definitely came from the backyard. Not the exterminators fault, as it was an issue with many factors (some not in our control w neighbors doing construction and such) but I can't help but wonder if it wouldn't have happened if he had baited the area where there was evidence (feces) of rats. But the biggest issue was how he treated me. I called in a panic as I watched the rat run across my floor, while my 4 year old and husband, who had just had surgery a few days prior, were home (and could probably be heard in the background). The guy was not very nice about it, told me he would come tomorrow if we couldn't take care of it. He pointed out all the "issues" with my house in a condescending way, like it was my fault the rat was there because of all of those things (and Some had even been fixed, not that he bothered to ask). He said, and I quote "I don't know the situation there but as the man of the house I would kill it however I could" when I asked him what to do. It was very sexist and demeaning. And he said "call me back tomorrow if you can't get it". Well...guess what? After I hung up, I KILLED that rat. Myself. Me, a measly female. I should have called him back the next day to tell him! I found another exterminator, of course, who has actually taken care of the issue, made good suggestions, has followed up, respects me, and also told me how awesome I am for killing the rat myself. There are better, less condescending, and non-misogynistic folks out there for extermination services. I suggest looking elsewhere. read more

SO HAPPY AND RELIEVED to find this pest service. I've had a mouse issue in my apartment for a year now. We had one pest service come, who was very nice and seemed to know what he was doing. But nothing was resolved. We attempted to fill every hole and crack we could find, with the help of the handy man that my landlord hired. Nothing worked! Finally a friend recommended Evergreen to us. He said his landlords had hired them; they came and assessed any possible entry points, filled everything in, and he never saw a mouse again. I was optimistic from all of the reviews, and when the team of two arrived, I knew we were in good hands. They are so professional! Courteous, communicative, and effective. They spent an hour in my apartment assessing any possible entryways. They found a lot of places which needed to be filled in. Some spots they were able to do, other spots, I will have a handyman work on. The most impressive thing: they found what looks likely to be an entryway, which we never would have identified. They can tell by a specific marking on the wall, that it's a common spot for mice to pass by. They placed traps around my apartment. I told them that we had put many traps down (a variety) and I had witnessed the mouse simply run around them. They told me that they are baiting these traps with their home-made mixture of bait which includes mouse pheromones. Much more sophisticated than regular ol' Peanut Butter. I was anxious that we might have bed bugs, so called Evergreen - if it was going to need treatment it had to be safe for our multiple kid and cat household. Jesse was great on the phone and heard my concerns, but explained that what I was experiencing might not be bed bugs. I was still pretty anxious though, so asked for an inspection. He sent a team same day, just a couple of hours later. John Paul and Thomas did a thorough inspection and did not find any bed bug activity. They told me what to do/look out for going forward, other things to rule out, etc. Since they did not find any bed bug activity, they did not recommend doing any treatments (DIY or their services) at this time. I appreciate this company's straightforward and ethical approach. I hope I don't need pest control any time soon, but if I do, I'll call these guys again. read more

I called Evergeeen because I was worried about having powderpost beetles but my case was very complicated. We've had a pretty serious roach problem in our 99% amazing apartment. We have a couple of cats, so we were conscious of the pest management methods we went with. After reading the outstanding reviews Green Apple received on Yelp so far, I decided to call. They came over later that afternoon within a 3 hour window. They even reminded me to make sure to call them if the exterminator didn't arrive within that hour and they would get right on the case. Luckily, he showed up just on time at the beginning of the window. He was so kind and courteous the entire time, being mindful of my cats throughout. Keeping them safe while eliminating all pests was top priority to him! He knew his stuff while explaining to me what he was doing. And, shoot, was he thorough! We had some cracks in our ceiling, and he even treated those. I'm really astonished with the level of service and kindness I received from an industry that I wouldn't typically expect it from. I am disappointed! I decided to give this place a try because of all the high reviews. Made the appointment with Mike for Monday Oct 3rd 9am at Queens. By Monday at around 9:10am I called because on one shows up. The gentleman andswered and told me supposed to be a 2 hours windows which is 9-11am instead of 9 o'clock sharp . We are the second appointment of the day. No problem, I pushed all my other business meetings 2.5 hours later just to make room for this appointment, The gentleman assured me his technician will show definitely up on time before 11am. By 11:10am no one shows up and I call them again. The same gentleman answered and said he "was about to call me". His lame excuse was his guy is stuck in traffic blah blah. By the way he sound on the phone, I knew that was an attempt just to blush me off. After all, it was a monday and non busy traffic hour. Their first appointment was 7am and even if they took 3 hours to finish the job, they still have 1 hour to travel to me by 11am. What kind of nonsense is that!!!??? I was really disappointed and canceled the appointment right there. This is NYC, everyone's time is valuable. If you are going to be late you should call the customer in advance and dont wait till the customer call you when you are already late. I am your second appointment and your first appointment was at 7am and you telling me 4 hours isnt enough for you to be on time?. There is no reason for all this. Either your booking method isnt right or you just don't respect other people's time. read more

DON'T believe the media hype about Bed Bugs: they don't have to be a chronic nightmare. DO believe the Yelp hype about Green Apple Pest Control: they are a dream come true. I was getting bit to bits, so I wasn't surprised when I flipped my boxspring and found a couple guilty buggers hidden in the fold where fabric meets frame. (Prime real estate, I'm told.) I did enough online research to know that my landlord's go-to guy and his bucket of death would only make matters worse, so I heeded Green Apple's overwhelmingly positive reviews and gave Mike a call. His guys Jesse and Dave arrived right on time two days later, which gave me the necessary window to complete the fairly extensive prep work. (Heads up, guys: if you're serious about getting rid of the problem, follow their instructions to the letter. They have an outrageous 97% success rate, and the main reason it isn't even higher is because some customer cut corners on their own end.) I opened the door and before I had a chance to even greet them, Jesse said "Hi, we're here to get you out of this mess." And they did, big time. I can't speak highly enough of these guys. They were OUTSTANDING: knowledgeable, professional, patient, thorough, and kind. They answered every question I could think of and gave my cat a kiss before they put her in the bathroom to protect her from direct contact with any chemicals, even though the stuff they use is as gentle as it gets. I slept like a rock that night and haven't had a nibble in three weeks now. Bottom line: I'd sing the praises of Green Apple to anyone who'd listen, if it didn't mean I'd actually have to admit I had bed bugs to begin with. Green Apple Pest is a lifesaver. In our first apartment, my roommate and I discovered we had a roach and mouse problem. Our landlord insisted our super could sufficiently take care of the problem. It was not until we hired Green Apple Pest, that we saw a difference. Mike patched up all the holes we didn't even know were there and sprayed all around the apartment. No horrible chemical smell. I believe the spray is chrysanthemum. That's right. The flower! Mike explained how the chrysanthemum spray was activated by roaches walking over it, and how it was more effective than any other kind of raid or spray poison because it remained on the walls whereas those sprays disappeared once they were sprayed. When it came time for us to find a new apartment, my roommate and I decided we could only live somewhere that would allow us to bring in Green Apple Pest. It was one of the first questions we asked upon walking into each potential apartment. We are about to move into our new apartment and we brought in Mike to christian the apartment. I felt a bit silly insisting he come before we moved in, not having seen any pest problems, but boy am I glad we did. Even though the apartment had been cleaned and repainted, the apartment couldn't hide it's murky pest past from Mike. He found all the indications of roaches and mice--in fact, when patching up a hole, he found a dead roach! There were holes all around the apartment. A huge ticking time bomb, if you ask me! I highly recommend using Green Apple, especially if you are about to move into a new place. Here are some key notes to remember: 1. Green Apple is a small company. They can't always answer your call or return your call immediately. Just be patient and persistent. 2. The treatment will take a substantial amount of time and they won't always be able to make it to your apartment exactly at the time they scheduled. Chill out. Schedule in advance. Allow yourself a substantial window of time (a couple hours) for the treatment. If you have to jet off to work, ask a friend to hang in the apartment or the guys at Green Apple will offer to lock up for you. 3. Treatment is expensive at first but monthly or quarterly treatments after the first treatment are more affordable. Enjoy!! read more

Once the technician explained to me what he was going to do, how he was going to do it and why he was going to do it. I knew this company was the real deal. I highly recommend Green Apple! After we told our landlord we had bedbugs, he responded quickly but pretty much hired his usual low budget exterminator(s) who knew nothing about bedbugs. The original exterminators just made things worse and we were living out of plastic bags for 3 months. We were hopeless and sleepless. Then my partner found Mike's Yelp reviews and we convinced our (reluctant) landlord to hire him for the job. We IMMEDIATELY felt relief and trusted Mike. When I made the first call, he talked to me for like 30 minutes while I frantically asked questions. He scheduled an appointment for 2 days later, sent us a prep plan, and responded to all of our paranoid texts. While the original exterminators couldn't even *find* the bedbugs in our house, Mike immediately walked into my room, flipped my bed frame, and showed me their excrement. I never thought I'd be so happy to see poop, but it was quite a relief to see how knowledgeable he is and have him validate what we were experiencing. He didn't use foggers (which the previous exterminators used, making the problem worse by spreading them to other rooms!) and he discouraged us from throwing our stuff away. When the other exterminators treated our place, we'd return to strong, horrible chemical smells. When Mike was done, he left our apartment smelling sterile like a hospital. And I'm a science nerd, so I was happy that he gave us the stats on his results and seemed really honest about his work. I called Green Apple Pest many many times over the course of 3-4 weeks, almost to the point of stalking, turns out they/he was on vacation but they/he didn't leave an "I'm on vacation" outgoing voicemail message. Then! Miraculously I did finally get an answer back after my many voicemails I left, only for them to set up an ACTUAL appointment and then NOT show!!!!! No call of apology, no "I'm running late", nothingggggg! I stayed home from work for this appointment, especially as I had been waiting so long to actually nab one! I then proceeded to throw good time after bad and rang again a few more times to no avail. Some business ethic. **Editor's Note! How amusing, it seems though not diligent in their return of phone calls/customer service, they are happy to belittle Yelp commenters who post negative reviews! Does no one find the lousy irony in this? Green Apple Pests: This is New York! EVERY business deals with many of the same types of problems you have to deal with. It's the professional businesses that handle and fix these problems, or they go out of business. It is truly that simple. Call people and tell them you are too busy, don't let them get frustrated, write a bad review and then mock and disparage them for doing so. I'm the owner of a two family brownstone in Bushwick. About two years ago, I got bedbugs in my top floor apartment. I didn't know where to go, but I made an educated guess and called Green Apple. They were thorough and professional, put us to ease (compared to all the horror stories out there on the internet), and took care of the problem on the first visit. Two years later and the downstairs duplex just got bedbugs (totally unrelated). I knew there was no one else I would consider calling. These guys are consummate professionals. They KNOW bed bugs.
