While I am not the biggest fan of the emergency room ( I prefer to go to their Redmond satellite emergency room for speedier quality care). I have also NEVER EVER had a problem with anything financial related to any of my care over the last ten years. Evergreen Hospital is solid. I especially highly recommend the hospital doctors that saved my life when I suffered acute respiratory failure with hypoxia. Here are reviews of two doctors that really made a difference in my health. Very very impressed with both Dr. Young and Dr. Picazo, who both work in pulmonology critical care. I met them both at the end of my hospital stay after I had initially been admitted to the ICU during a frightening, truly life-or-death medical crisis. Both doctors were knowledgeable, professional, and clearly highly talented physicians. Despite their obvious expertise, what stood out most was how personable, compassionate, and down-to-earth they both were. Both doctors surprised me with how relatable they were. I felt relieved and comfortable asking questions during an extremely stressful time. I would recommend Evergreen Health to any and all looking for expert, compassionate and affordable care. He explained everything clearly, never made me feel rushed, and spent a generous amount of time discussing my care and concerns with me. I deeply appreciated both his medical expertise and his genuine kindness. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Picazo to anyone seeking outstanding pulmonary and critical care treatment. read more

ER my son was taken in to ER for ankle injury. My first time there it's a huge place and very clean and efficient and friendly staff. They were busy but they took care of my son and came by to check on him often. He was in there for few hours and he was kept comfortable and even took us a family room to wait . I went to EvergreenHealth for an ER visit during a time when I had been laid off, was unemployed, and had no health insurance. I disclosed this up front. During the visit, no clear cause or diagnosis was identified, yet I was repeatedly encouraged to undergo additional testing. In the end, I was discharged and advised to follow up with my primary care provider or specialist. Afterward, I was directed to billing and told to apply for their charity care program and medicaid. I followed all instructions, submitted documentation, and made multiple, messages and calls explaining my situation. Despite clearly stating that I have no income, I never received realistic or manageable assistance. Instead, I was repeatedly asked to make payments I cannot afford or resubmit another financial assistant (that kept being denied without reasons). Even after requesting the minimal - of a reduced monthly payment *twice* that I might be able to manage, I was told there was no flexibility and a NO response back the 2nd time. The proposed payment amount was completely unrealistic given my circumstances. Rather, I kept getting mail and statements that suggested if I don't pay - it will be going to collections. There is a serious disconnect between how EvergreenHealth markets its financial assistance and how it actually treats patients in hardship. The process felt transactional rather than supportive--more focused on collecting money than helping patients navigate a difficult situation. I can also relate to concerns raised by other reviewers that EvergreenHealth operates more like a profit-driven system than a patient-centered healthcare provider. Overall, customer service was lacking, billing "assistance" felt ineffective, and I was left feeling unheard and unsupported at a vulnerable time. Extremely expensive Physical Therapy at Evergreen. I just had two 25-30 minute PT sessions on my shoulder. I received a bill for $1148 for the short appointments. I tried to dispute the charges as excessive and they said since the insurance company approved them (they covered about $700) there was nothing I could do to dispute them. My experiences at the Totem Lake Urgent Care facility have revealed a deeply concerning pattern of clinical dismissal and administrative negligence. First, this facility demonstrates a dangerous approach to complex trauma. I presented with a severe, complex bone fracture in my hand. Instead of receiving the mandatory specialized stabilization required for a complex break, the staff applied a basic, improper splint and discharged me. To make matters worse, they referred me to an orthopedic specialist who was completely out of my insurance network, effectively abandoning my follow-up care. Because of this initial clinical failure, my hand healed improperly, resulting in a permanent skeletal deformity that required years of grueling rehabilitation to overcome. Second, their triage and diagnostic protocols are entirely performative and fail to address actual patient needs. Recently, I presented while severely ill and explicitly communicated that I am immunocompromised. The attending Nurse Practitioner responded with open skepticism, questioned my self-reported medical history with an unprofessional and condescending demeanor, and completely dismissed my symptoms. Instead of investigating the illness or offering standard symptom relief, the provider administered a routine COVID-19 test and discharged me with zero medical assistance. Ruling out one virus is not a treatment plan; it is a clinical cop-out that left a high-risk patient to combat a severe illness entirely alone. Furthermore, this network routinely cancels critical medical appointments without rescheduling them, forcing the administrative and health burdens entirely onto the patient.This institution protects itself behind bureaucratic layers, but the clinical care at this location falls dangerously below acceptable patient safety standards. As other reviews pointed out, I can confirm that Evergreen's billing and customer service teams are a big mess. They sent me a bill for services related to a car accident after over 2 years without any explanation. Their customer service repeatedly told me that their review team will investigate and respond, which they never did. They applied a payment for other (correct) charges to the accident related services and sent the bills for the other charges into collections. After 4 customer service calls to Evergreen and one to Premera it turned out that Geico paid for the accident related charges and that I don't owe anything. They promised to pull it out of Collections. Let's see if that happens. The bottomline: try to stay away from Evergreen, especially Justin from Customer Service. However a shout-out for Kayla, who solved the mystery on the 4th call. read more

All I'd ask is why work in a place of care if you don't care about others- no matter what position you're in there. I am thoroughly impressed with this company and I love the way they have their MyChart set up. I'm able to message all my doctors, see all my test results quickly, even able to see my x-ray images through the MyChart access. I have confidence in the doctors and staff at this hospital. Was here two weeks ago for a procedure. The site was kept very clean and well kept. It's a bit confusing where to park compared to where you are going though. I would give the following 5 stars. The RNs in the post-op, the RNs on silver 8 and the day shift CNAs on silver 8. The night CNA where grumpyni think is the nicest way I can put it. The bad: The person who put my IV in. Did not listen when I said it hurt. I'm almost 2 weeks post op and still have a massive bruise. I had a post op complication and it took over an hour for the poor RNs to get help needed. The anesthesiologist that showed up couldn't be bothered to do there job and call for the consult needed. Thankfully it was nothing but the lack of good P/P for the nurses could result in serious issues. read more

Their predatory financial practices burden patients with outrageous medical debt, prioritizing revenue over the very care they claim to provide. One of the most egregious examples of this is their treatment of breast cancer patients. Instead of prioritizing patient safety, they require women to undergo unnecessary radiation-based mammograms--even when non-invasive ultrasounds would be the safer, more effective option. They force patients through this additional radiation exposure (and charging them for it), essentially doubling the cost, stress, and risk for the patient, just to line their pockets. Would not recommend Evergreen "Addiction Treatment Center", located in Monroe, WA. While enrolled, I had to endure another patient walking around with "blackface", during arts and crafts, I assume because I'm black. The staff member literally let this jerk wear blackface for 1/2 hour, and pretended that she didn't notice it. The guy refused to apologize to me, so I left the treatment center, early, and am being charged with the entire bill of $19,049.00. My insurance company states reason for non payment is : "procedure & treatment not carried out because of patient's decision for other reasons (being that I left early, due to another patient parading around with blackface, in front of me). Doctors are ok* but support staff (tech and admin) are incompetent/untrained and disrespectful. I can't imagine being very ill or elderly and navigating this nightmare corporation for medical care. Once again disappointed. My wife needs to schedule an appointment with a specialist. She spent over two hours today on hold and no on ever answered. This was between 10:30am and 1:00pm. Evergreen Health is a joke and the Washington State Insurance commissioner and government is the same. There needs to be competition in healthcare, so companies like Evergreen do not have a monopoly and can be put out of business when they have terrible service and too high of prices. read more

My mother used to be a clinical member at Evergreen years before, so I learned some of those knowledges related to cardiology. The hospital have a variety of departments which indicates plenty amount of employees who are in this field working hard. My dad had his stress test and operation done here, and the quality of their care has amazed me. Only thing that brings down 1 star is the ease of parking, sometimes it can be difficult finding a spot near the entrance. read more

This is a poor excuse for a medical center. I was seen for severe shoulder pain, in Urgent Care. They could not do anything and instructed me to go to the ER if the pain continued; I paid this bill. The pain continued, I went to the ER as instructed, they could not diagnose the program, gave me an injection, and referred me to an internal clinic; I paid this bill. I went to the internal clinic and was finally x-rayed and again, I was referred to another clinic without a diagnosis; I did not pay this bill. About 10 weeks later, I received a call from the clinic. They lost my x-rays and the reason for the delay in calling me. They did not see anything on the x-ray and asked me to go to an Evergreen physical therapist. I explained this was completely unacceptable, and I was not paying this bill. During the 10 weeks they lost my x-rays, I found a new medical provider who diagnosed the issue on the FIRST visit and corrected the problem. I am amazed a medical facility believes they have the right to bounce a person around racking up medical bills without diagnosing the problem. I have called Evergreen billing who claims I am not in their system, and given another department to call who DOES NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. I then called Patient Relations who also DOES NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. This medical center is nothing short of a disorganized disaster. read more

Travel consultation and Infectious diseases office at Evergreen Hospital. This is just a buyer beware review. My actual experience was good. The doctor is excellent. So that brings me to the 2 stars. I wasn't told when I made the appointment that insurance does not cover this bc it's considered elective. So the office visit was $82, the 3 vaccines I got plus 2 injection admisistrations were $305 so I paid $387 at that time. 10 days later I get an email for a bill saying I owe $34 with no explanation for when or where. After 2 days of trying to find out what it's for I was told it's an additional fee for "use of facility". Sounds like a scam to me. So just beware. read more

Just delivered my baby here and so this is for the labor and delivery unit! They were so attentive throughout the whole time to make sure I was okay and also continuously checked in with the baby the entire time. Unfortunately the on-call OB (part of Evergreen women's health) was unavailable so the hospital OB helped me deliver and it was still a positive experience. Would definitely recommend choosing this hospital if you're planning to have a baby :) read more

This place is a joke! I would give them a 0 if I could. I highly recommend any other Hospital system. Evergreen billing is notorious for sending your bill to the wrong address. I had visited the ER 3 times from 2019 to 2022. Now I received a collection charge and it turns out they never ran my insurance on the facility charge. Yet the physician bill was ran through my insurance, and I paid that in a timely manner. I have gone out of my way to build up my credit score and every other bill I receive I paid on time. When I called to inquire about the charges they said they called and left an automated message which is not true, and they said they sent bills in the mail. I know they send other customers bills to the wrong address. This is a common problem with Evergreen. Also when I called they didn't care they said there was nothing they could do. The free nurse line has saved my life on two occasions, and has become my go to resource when navigating symptoms that I'm not sure rise up to urgent. Seriously though, take advantage of the nurse line. Real nurses. Good guidance when dealing with possible emergencies. I've also received good guidance on how to manage things at home and when to know if it's time to go to the ER. I'm 2018, they urged me to go to the hospital. My symptoms were odd, but I was having a mini heart attack and I only called 911 because they told me to. In May 2023, they urged me to go to the hospital. My symptoms we're undiagnosed for weeks and they told me not to go back to an urgent care, but an ER. I had a brain tumor and I didn't know it. The ER did a scan and found it. An urgent care never would have been able to do a scan. Thank you for this resource. I'm so grateful. The hospital itself is also good. While I primarily use the Overlake network, I have used evergreen occasionally. The home health services are hit & miss. My biggest complaint is the providers are consistently late. It improved after some complaining, but in the beginning it definitely bothered me. read more

My 91 year old father went to Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland for a routine check for possible internal bleeding. He was in stable condition before he went in, but they allowed his condition to deteriorate to a point where he was in critical condition. Instead of treating him the doctor on his case pushed us to withdraw all care for him. She was rude and arrogant when I tried to ask questions. I had to stand by and watch my father die after a few days in the hospital. I still remember the last two days as he gasped for breath and no one would help him. I would never take someone I loved to this hospital. It should be shut down as a threat to the community and the physician prohibited from practicing medicine in Washington state. read more

Been seeing my doctor for almost 25 years at Evergreen. The billing department is totally incompetent. First they billed my insurance incorrectly , then they charged me 2 different copay's for same visit. Then they charged me 2 facility fees for same visit each $310 for a 10 minute office visit and X-rays. Then I ask about facility fee and they told me I could request my medical records to see I signed a form allowing this charge. I asked to learn more about this ridiculous charge and the woman could not explain or reference anywhere to read more but to go through hassle or getting my records. Evergreen Health has turned into a corporation that just wants to find another way to bill patients. When I called about my bill, I learned that if you ask the doctor a question or share a health concern during your wellness exam they will add an "office visit" charge on top of the wellness appointment. Evergreen feels like a corporation trying to figure out another way to charge for something or refer to another "specialist" to keep the billing cycle active. Doesn't matter how friendly or competent the doctors are if they are part of a system that does not prioritize the human experience. Time to move on. read more

Hands down worst billing department ever experienced. A year ago, I was hit by a car while walking in a parking lot. At ER, gave all other party info to billing. Called 8 times over 2 months. They still erroneously billed my primary insurance despite asking for supervisors and that they had the correct info from day one. I tried to remove other party insurance from patient portal after accident resolved. It sits there a year later at "pending removal". Was in a car accident last week. Immediately called billing 3 times to provide all info for auto insurance. Not only is the billing department asking me for claim information from the insurance I requested to have deleted, as it's irrelevant, but that info is still there and making a colossal mess every time I go to a provider for regular health visits. I messaged billing rep Nathaniel in the portal. No response. I called billing for the fourth time. A manager, Suzette, promised to return my call and did not (shocking). They're unmotivated, uncaring, and obviously happy to let their patients struggle. Bill Howe, that's on you as you are CFO, so do something. This is all about money and profit for you, I'm sure, but there are HUMAN PATIENTS who suffer unnecessarily and lose hours of their lives and suffer from increased anxiety thanks to poor training, inept staff, and your leadership. read more

Went to Emergency in Kirkland since my 3 year old son was sick - the person came out and said the wait time is 5.5 hours (as if I was waiting for a table at the restaurant) I went to Redmond location. They took my ID card and went inside, the staff came after 2 hours.. I asked for my ID back and asked how long will it take since the baby doesn't stop crying and need to check what's wrong. Another person came out (I am not sure if he is the Dr or Medical assistant).. his response was - hey did someone want to talk to me..I said - not sure who wanted to talk to you but I was asking in general how long is the wait time since the kid has been crying.. he replied another one hour. I told him the kid is getting sore by crying, so please cancel the appointment. I will take him home and call the nurse line tomorrow.. his response - oh, yeah! and went back Absolutely no patient care nor a regular human empathy. Wasted 3.5 hours in the waiting area between 2 locations and came back with no help. FYI. I have visited Evergreen Urgent care and emergency multiple times and it's the same situation all the time. I was really impressed from the beginning until the very end on how professional and courteous each one of these individuals performed their jobs. They charged me by page for my medical records while Everett Clinic and Providence Hospital happily handed mine over without charge. Left this facility, my GM couldn't provide care because they were demanded by armistice rules that I see a specialist for minors issues. Very costly and alway ended in a specialist walking into the room saying "minor and can be handled by your GP with basic medication" especially noticeable that I was understandably sent to a cardiologist for diagnosis, but after that my GO wasn't allowed to prescribe propranolol after the cardiologist was done with me and my GP tried prescribing the medication but it was blocked because of administrative rules. When telling my GP of painful urination issues caused by psoriatic arthritis I was sent to a nephrologist because of policy, the nephrologist threw up his hands in frustration and said what I already knew "nothing wrong with your kidneys" It's the deep siphon on funds by unnecessary medical care of policies of hospital admins. read more

The Doctor and nurse that saw me in the ER were nice and accommodating to my pain and the issue i had with my stomach which i have had issues with for a few yrs now. HOWEVER when i got a referral i had to call back because the lady made it to some place that does not take my insurance and she would not let me tell her the place i know that will see me and takes my insurance.Just plain rude and asked like i was stupid. So i called back and spoke to another lady and she said oh we wont redo referrals even tho they made the referral they wont change it and she followed up with we wont make referrals to another place especially if its another doctor so basically if our network is not getting your money goodluck. So now i have to go thru the entire process allover again to be able to get a GI to see me about my colon. Bottom line is that they do not care,get you in and seen to get some money and move you on along to get next person/money in!!!!Will not go back to any evergreen place again and i would not take my dog here as they have shown their true colors. You better off going to UW clinics because i have learned overlake centers have become the same way. So sick of the corporate places getting to big BUT if something happens to me before my appt comes at UW which i couldnt get for another 2 months i will look into a lawyer because they could have took 2mins and redone referral so i could be seen somewhere in only a couple weeks instead of 2 months from now!!!!! read more
