The first time I came, I was still fairly new to tabletop gaming so I wasn't sure what to get. I had my eyes set on Agricola but after talking to the associate I realized I wasn't ready for such a heavy euro game just yet. The associate asked us what we liked and then basically went through their entire collection with us, pointing out and explaining various games that he thought would appeal to us. You don't get customer service like that anymore! All the games are also much cheaper than you would find at Chapters or Mastermind Games. They've also got tons of other nerd stuff like comic books, figurines, and superhero paraphernalia. The store is located in the back of the plaza so it's difficult to find if you don't know where to look.

There were the plates of regular Swedish meatballs ($4.50), plant balls or falafel balls ($4), chicken balls or cod balls ($5) plus salmon fillet ($6). Incredibly affordable. Tikka masala with chicken balls was reminiscent of butter chicken although some rice was dry. Cod balls were served with tartar sauce and fries akin to fish n' chips. Then the Swedish meatballs with peas, mash potatoes and lingonberry jam just works in a sweet savoury mix. This meal didn't have to blow our mind, as we could have 3 plates for the price of one elsewhere! This IKEA location is generally a pleasant spot for a visit whether it be to find home furnitures, handy household items or food. It's a standard huge location with aboveground parking, and is situated off of Hwy 7 and Hwy 400. It's generally well-stocked and is packed throughout the day. The selection is still great for everything from kitchenware to lighting to beddings. It's nice to see that IKEA has maintained a budget-friendly selection including items under $5 for folks riding through a tough economic period. Skip it or hit it? Just realized how many people are hitting IKEA for a good meal.

I was provided with a service appointment date of June 3, with an expected arrival window between…read more8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. for a Taskrabbit assembler named Abby to complete the assembly of my IKEA furniture. When Abby did not arrive within the scheduled timeframe, I contacted him directly and was given information that conflicted with the appointment details I had received. I then contacted IKEA, through whom the assembly service had been arranged. After navigating multiple automated prompts and speaking with customer service representatives, the assembly was rescheduled for the same day at 3:00 p.m. Unfortunately, 3:00 p.m. came and went without Abby arriving. At approximately 3:30 p.m., attempts to contact him were unsuccessful, as he did not answer his phone. Despite spending the better part of an entire day communicating with IKEA's chatbot, AI support systems, several customer service representatives, Taskrabbit, and the assigned assembler, the task that had been paid for was never completed. While the IKEA customer service representatives I spoke with were courteous and genuinely tried to assist, neither IKEA, Taskrabbit, nor the assigned Tasker were ultimately able to resolve the issue or fulfill the service commitment. To date, I have never received a follow-up explanation from Abby regarding the missed appointment. As a result of this experience, I cannot recommend either IKEA's assembly service or Taskrabbit unless customers are confident they can assemble the furniture themselves or have an alternative arrangement in place. When problems arise, there appears to be a lack of accountability and communication, leaving customers without answers and wasting valuable time. This experience was extremely disappointing and has significantly impacted my confidence in both companies. Going forward, I will be taking my business to other flat-pack furniture retailers and would not recommend Taskrabbit based on my experience.

After recommending gel nail strips from Winners to the female staffer after she let me know that she loved my nails, it was a good idea to check out this Winners. This plaza is huge, so I drove over to this store. I parked steps away from the entrance and walked in. I had forgotten how huge this store was. I remember waiting for what felt like ages at the checkout when I last visited it. I was here on a Wednesday evening. It wasn't as crazy. I spent a lot of time looking at purses. There were many that I found interesting and cool. I found a Kipling crossbody in a cheerful cantaloupe colour. I already own this style in purple, so I didn't need another one. If I did, I would have bought it. Sure enough, I did not steer the woman at Penningtons wrong. I found a few gel nail strips that were waiting for her to snatch up. The shoe section is impressive. There were many pairs of footwear for my size 11 feet, from sandals, to sneakers. I saw men's shoe sizes go up to 14 at this store. It was impressive. The drinkware section is also decent. You can get tiki and pineapple mugs to conjure tropical vibes. I was thrilled to see a good selection of travel tumblers. The athleisure wear section was also cool. I liked the Adidas tops in cheerful colours, such as lime and pink. There were also lightweight track pants and shorts that looked stylish and comfy. This store has a small plushies section. I did see Hello Kitty and a couple of Squishmallows while I was there. It's a small, but mighty section. I was briefly waiting in the lineup before I approached a cheerful cashier. I had my TJX Style + cards scanned, followed by paying for my items with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked the woman and left. It was nice returning to this Winners. It has changed quite a bit since I was an undergraduate student, but feels the same. Although shops have come and gone, the York University Bookstore remains a staple. It was unfortunately closed when I was there for CRAM learning sessions at night. I like that there is a decent Shoppers Drug Mart now. I often had to visit one off-campus to get munchies, cold medication, and frankly hang out because everything was closed after my night classes had ended. At 10:30 pm, Second Cup and a few eateries were still alive and kicking. After admiring all the York University-branded sweatshirts, t-shirts, water bottles, and more, I need to come back and get something. I don't have much gear as an alumna! There is a decent parking lot on Vanier Lane where you can park your car. It's $8 if you park after 6 pm on weeknights and is good until 6 am the following day. It's cheaper on weekend with flat rates. You pay at one of the most sophisticated parking machines I have ever used. It accepts coins, credit and debit cards, bank cards, and YU-Card if you are a student. Yes! I used my bank card and the transaction was seamless. There is a walkway between this parking lot and York Lanes. The parking lot ismonitored, which is positive and reassuring. I had no problems here, as I spent nearly four hours on campus. I will return to get my York U. gear. It felt the same being here, even with the change in stores and look. (123)

It was like looking at a strangely ruined version of a cross between a Pacific Mall kind of setup and an abandoned shell of a mall in Buffalo, but with few patrons. Not at all bustling, practically depressing. The whole interior is badly deteriorating. The floors are faded and worn, the glass windows are cluttered and dingy. We went into the Ardene for a gift shopping run and it's pretty much the highlight of this mall. Would not bother coming back if I can avoid it.

Well, it's across the street from my dentist, who is the best dentist ever, and I have followed him all across town from since the time when he was at Bathurst and Bloor almost 2 decades ago. And even now that I live in Ottawa, I still see my dentist in Toronto and make a whole road trip out of it, but I digress. I never know what traffic is like in Toronto so sometimes I arrive for my appointment way too early and so I head across the street to the mall. Every time I'm there, I ask myself what am I doing here? This is not a shopping destination. I have never purchased anything there. If you live in the area I'm sure it's functional enough - there is a Walmart there, but I would never make a special trip just to go there. Even the Winners, which is one of my favourite stores, is not that good there. The food court has independent stores as opposed to chains although they have chains too. And the layout is interesting, the food court stalls are in a cluster at the centre and the seats are all around the perimeter. This Mall is in serious need of revitalization in my opinion.
