They plugged in a washing machine that was specifically stated to not work and not be included in the sale of the home, and attempted to get it running, then LEFT it on when they left the house, so I came home to a broken washer making loud grinding noises and rocking back and forth (had been left this way for several days.) And the kicker is that the guy tracked mud all over my house AND used my bathroom and left the toilet seat up! (During the radon test installation - not during the inspection - he should not have even been in the bathroom let alone leaving the SEAT up. Yuck.) I ended up losing my buyer because of this guy's incompetent inspection.

I asked the…read moreinspector specifically before he arrived (I could not be there due to Covid-19) to check a bank of lights on the ceiling of the garage that wasn't working. I asked if the power was not working or the light bulbs were burned out. He told me after the inspection that there was power to it so I assumed they worked. Well, when I put in new light bulbs after buying the house it didn't work. The bank of lights doesn't work and it will cost me several hundred dollars to repair. Had I been told of the issue that I specifically asked about, the fixing cost could have been negotiated into the sale. There were other issues with the inspection but when you specifically ask if something works and are given wrong information that is unfortunate. When I asked the inspector about it after the fact, he said he didn't have a light bulb (there were light bulbs working on the other bank of lights). He did come to the house to look at it again after the fact but offered no explanation on why it didn't work and said he couldn't move a light bulb during the inspection (but he should have come prepared since I told him what the issue was beforehand). I credit him for at least coming back over. But after I paid, he had often not returned messages and was going to have something done for me related to the inspection report but never did. My advice would be to look elsewhere for an inspector. Sure, inspectors miss things but when you specifically bring up something for an inspector to check and are given wrong information, that's not acceptable.

I received an email and a response, followed by an appointment request from Ben very quickly. He was very friendly and easy to talk to. The day of the appointment, Daniel showed up not only on time but early and ready to work. He was very knowledgeable and examined asked me what my concerns were to understand the situation. Then he asked me to show him the locations in question. I pointed him to the mold, and he took his time, carefully inspected the areas, photographed the areas, and explained to me what he was finding, in non-scientific terms, potential causes, and the dangers. I showed him some mold I was growing in petri dishes, and he explained what I had, and I knew right away I had hired the right company. He was not in a rush and answered all my questions making sure I was 100% satisfied. We had him take air samples of several rooms, and once the air reports came in, he reviewed the reports with us, answering all our questions, explaining the different types of molds, reasons, and causes. Anyone can go to school and get a degree or training, but it is so hard to get this level of customer support these days, and I would highly recommend it. It was like a present with gorgeous wrapping, "ooooh" and "ahhhh" but then we didn't understand how to use the actual toy, "do we really need a back-flow protector thing-a-majig?" and "so you're telling me the structure is what?!?" (Cue in Dave from Harmony Home Inspections) This is where Dave works his magic and helps you figure out if the house is will be a money-pit or if it will be all roses and green grass. We used Dave on TWO home inspections. He did such a mah-velous job on the first one that we didn't hesitate to contact him for the second. He's almost like the last step in figuring out if the boyfriend/girlfriend.. err, house, is really... "the one," but he uses really cool gadgets to determine it! He spent his time everywhere in the home and even addressed our questions as we went along. He took pictures of all the spaces, including those where we pointed and said, "oh, is that... the M word? Mold?!" (Thankfully, it was not.) He walks around, crawls, kneels, shines a light, has a thermal thingy thing, and basically covers EVERYTHING in a home while making you feel comfortable that you are getting a really good inspection. My favorite part about Dave is his response to all your questions, "that's a really good question! (Insert answer here)" He sure made us feel competent, which in turn, made us confident that we were making a wise decision on this home. I have recommended Dave to others and hope that more realtors start to use Dave as well! I'd have to say, Dave is probably one of the most-enjoyed professional service man I have met and worked with.
