Pastor Ken is filled with the Holy Spirt, his sermons are deep and moving, he is always honest, open and approachable. The music ministry is great too along with the youth ministry. I think there are more children than adults. Lol. The only church I've ever felt comfortable with and truly had anything near an incredibly impactful experience with is my sister's longtime "church of choice" (sorry guys, I'm not a theologian!), Cornerstone. Pastor Linn's sermons have always been impactful and I have gotten so much from them each time I'm in Phoenix visiting and attend church with my baby sister. It's a fun dynamic experience I never knew existing as a lapsed (sorta - went maybe a dozen times growing up) Catholic. And I cannot begin to describe the impact of Cornerstone on my sister - truly has been a life changing experience for her in the most positive sense. As far as the experience, I'm not sure what more anyone could want? Great music, incredibly well executed audio-visual, and pristine, very impressive brand new facilities (great coffee shop and gift shop in Libby - mind boggling when I first saw this place, it was fun to attend a church?!). Pastor Linn was approachable with thousands of attendees; the man remembers who I am whenever I say hello. I live in New York City, but I get to Arizona 6-8+ times annually. He asks about details so well I'm always surprised, special guy. Obviously, highly recommended....indeed I can't recommend Cornerstone enough. The setting is basic and there are plans for enlargement but this is a growing Buddhist temple, and the monks are friendly and relaxing to be around. Leave your stress and shows outside.

I just started attending the Arizona International Buddhist Meditation Center after a friend…read morerecommended I come with him. Meetings are Wednesday nights at 7pm on Temple Street (the center may be difficult to find as it is located in a residential house). There is parking available in front the house as well as a church parking lot across the street. Cushions are provided for your comfort and the meditation session lasts about 45 minutes. Shane will ring a bell and talk you through the first 5 to 10 minutes. Afterwards, silence commences and you try not to think of anything at all. Once the meditation session ends, Shane leads a short discussion session to allow for questions and for the resident monk to read a prayer aloud. I feel relaxed and at peace when I come here. Everyone is kind and welcoming, no judgement! If you are looking for a group environment and friendly community to meditate with, this is the perfect spot in Arizona!

This weekend I was diverted from my usual route to St. Anne's in Gilbert. Get there early if you…read morewant a good parking spot and avoid the small traffic jam into the parking lot. Like many churches in the valley, you're able to see more of the church from its parking lot than from the street. As I walked in, I was struck by two things: the silence and reverence that was occasionally pierced by the scream of a baby and the way in which your eyes are immediately drawn to the center of the sanctuary with a large painted icon of the Good Shepherd. Christ the Good Shepherd is flanked by statues of St. Anne and St. Joachim. The tabernacle is in the traditional place with sanctuary candles burning. The procession started with half of a "platoon" of altar boys. Most people kneel at the communion rail for Holy Communion. There are some EMHC but they're more of an afterthought than an integral part. One comes away with a simple take away of St. Anne's Catholic Church. That this is a crying Church, and one with a good future. As the saying goes, "IF CHILDREN ARE NOT CRYING, THE CHURCH IS DYING".
