I meant to say "501C3" is the tax status these modern-day churches buy into. They must sign something like 20 or 24 pages that tell them what they are not allowed to talk about from the pulpit. One is abortion and another one is not recommending Presidential candidates, and many others. I have learned a lot more since I wrote this review. They are in bed with the government and are nothing more than money making businesses that lie to you and take your money. It's all coming out now. Get out of them. You do not want your children being brainwashed. If you think this is false info, do your own research and don't believe the nay-sayers on the web. Me and my wife have been going to a Bible based church in queen creek for years. We decided to stop by to check this church out since we live right around the corner. This is a very WOKE church. Pastor tries to use scripture for his own gain and agenda. Brought up "hate" and social justice topics that had nothing to do with the passage in scripture. Even said a group of people in the book of Jonah were "colonizers" what?! The feeling was very eerie and disappointing since we have been attending a Bible based church for years. I am fortunate to have read the Bible for myself and that the Holy Spirit is working to help me discern these false prophets and teachings. We need biblical values and sound teaching now more than ever. Very disappointing about this church and it made me realize how blessed my home church is for teaching sound doctrine. I was wondering why half the seats in the congregation were empty, now I know why!WILL NEVER ATTEND HERE AGAIN! read more

There are lots of churches out there. This one is really large, but not only encourages people to use their gifts it helps people get plugged in and use them to help others. A must: get involved in some sort of "group", whether Bible study or an interest group or family group, it makes a large church smaller and helps you get to know the people here. We have been going here for 6 years. The teaching is good for both unchurched people and for seasoned Christians because Cal J makes complicated theological concepts very simple to understand. Wayyyyy too much singing. I thought I was going to church not a sub par concert. About 80-85% of it is just singing.

I've only attended once so far but my impression is that they have a friendly, easy-going staff, and real Biblical teachings! Great congregation. The learning tools put up on the screen during the service are great... Nice campus, too! read more

We were at Central for many years and have since moved out of state. I served in the preschool ministry every weekend. The people I served with were so genuinely kind and would give their all to make sure the kids were well taken care of, had fun and learned about Jesus. The preschool director Wynanda was amazing. She inspired us all, made us feel appreciated and all the kids were drawn to her warm loving personality. This is a wonderful church and the messages from Cal Jernigan, Jeremy Jernigan and Caleb Baker were always very powerful and thought provoking. Central was a place our family enjoyed going to and never felt like something we had to do. Highly recommend! read more

Today was my first time trying the church. The campus is beautiful. Looks like a lot of activities for members on campus. It's huge, for those of you that like big churches. Service started at 12:30p the first 45 mins are full of announcements, communion, offerings etc... Then the pastor was shown on a giant screen and began to preach from 1:15 to roughly 2p. I found the sermon to be overly animated, dramatic but it may be my personal choice. I'm looking for less 'mega church' feel and something that is more intimate. Give it a shot, see if you like it, for me it's not my cup of tea. read more

I'm so proud to be a part of this church! The messages weekly are about living out God's love every day. The pastors are amazing, and there is so much good happening in our community because of this church. I have loved the opportunities to serve the community in the schools cleaning them and sprucing them up, I've been able to put together bags of supplies for the homeless and deliver them, we've gotten to do feed my starving children at church, and my kids have loved summer camps, vacation bible school and Trek programs. Our family has attended Central Christian Church for the past 3 years. I am continually impressed by Cal's messages, and his willingness to tackle difficult, but relevant topics with grace -- always pointing people back to Jesus. His sermons give me hope and peace in an otherwise troubled world. The messages are bible based and always provide historical context, which helps tremendously. All of the sermons are available online, allowing you to watch from home if you aren't comfortable/able to attend in person. I can not recommend Central Christian highly enough. read more

We attended Central Christian in Gilbert for many years. Unfortunately, we had to leave. The Senior Pastor, Cal, decided to start preaching a progressive liberal theology and his message has shifted from sin and redemption to social justice and "tolerance". In one message, he told his congregation he got "woke", apologized to minorities in his congregation because all the whites in the congregation were basically "racist" (generalize much?) and that whites haven't gotten anywhere because they work hard but because of "white privilege." While racism is definitely sin, preaching that redistribution of power and resources in order to redress a group's grievances is not Biblical and is basically a tenant of socialism. He has also applied this theology to the Israel/Palestine conflict. Once we started going to another church with great Biblical teaching, I suddenly realized that Cal's preaching has been pretty shallow for the last couple of years. Makes me extremely sad that Cal has taken this path and I can only hope that the leadership in the church will "right the ship" as soon as possible. . read more

For anyone who is considering not going to central because of the occasional sermon on a screen, please understand that there is ONE senior pastor for Several CAMPUSES and TIMES. A man can only be physically at one place at a time. I love the occasional screen. Personally I would rather watch a screen sermon of Cal than of someone who's not the senior pastor (although I do like the Jeremy sermons too). This is a great church who really gets the message across and is so so clever and always leaves me really thinking about the message they were conveying. I've been going here since 2007. We came here about a year ago to try it out and immediately signed up for a life group. We never heard back from anyone. Signed our daughter up for a youth trip..nothing. Tried calling and emailing nothing. Then we decided lets sign our daughter up for youth group ahead of time to ensure she gets a call back...nothing. One Sunday they had some type of life group sign up and we thought great finally! We told the guy at the table how hard it had been and he gave us his card and said he would hear from us. We did and he referred us to someone else who then wrote us "we signed our daughter up too late."Oh my goodness!! What does it take! Sometimes you just have to say move on and we did. However, it is sad because you can imagine how many other people fall through the cracks in a church this big it would be easy. Messages are great, coffee is good, big church feel and resources are there if that is what you are looking for your in the right place. read more

I've visited this church 3 times now. The people here are warm and welcoming, the messages spot on. It's a huge church with multiple offerings of service times, home groups, and mission opportunities. It would be a great church to attend, though I can't get past the music. From the moment you get there, your senses are bombarded with extremely loud rock praise songs. I just prefer a more meditative approach to worship. read more

A year and a half ago I found Central Christian Church in Gilbert, AZ; well, I drove by it every day, and saw the stickers in many cars in the Gilbert/Chandler area, so we decided to give it a try. Central Christian is a church that has everything you could imagine to make you comfortable, EVERYTHING! Honestly, whenever I think of something, is there; wifi, coffee shop, bookstore, baby rooms, overflow rooms, translators, etc. etc. etc......One day it was raining, which is extremely rare in Arizona, and I thought, "man, if only they had umbrellas", and boom, there was someone handling them out as we came in; they really think of every little detail. The church is Bible based, and in fact, one thing I have loved about it is the fact that they go in detail into some books (Philemon?) and background history, that most nondenominational churches don't really spend much time with. They had series last year on Kings, where they went into extensive details about the different Kings the chosen people had to be exposed to in order to get to Jesus. Some people might not like this, and prefer to be pumped up with uplifting banality, but I like learning. Also, and very important to me, they have an excellent Sunday school program for kids. That way I leave my kids there, and I can concentrate on the sermon/service. The church could be considered a mega church, and they have campuses in several places. Every other Sunday the pastor is live at the church (talking specifically about the Gilbert Campus), otherwise they have a huge screen where they transmit live from another campus; It's not a TV with a video, is a huge screen, and is like the pastor is there at your church (the first time I saw It I thought of Universal Studios or something like that), and once the sermon starts, you kind of forget that the pastor's not there. The clichés that you would find on mega churches are present but it doesn't really take away from the main message of the sermon. Even though the church is huge, they have an abundance of opportunities to serve. They also encourage Life Groups, where smaller group of members of the same or nearby communities can get together and talk about the sermon or connect through bible discussions. I am just now just trying a Life Group. The worship band plays great; the musicians are very talented, and they have some really great singers! I sometimes feel like they play the same songs every Sunday, but I think they want people to sing and have a sense of familiarity. The music is contemporary Christian rock/pop (CCM). The church is also for the most part, diverse. I'm Hispanic, and I've never felt out of place. There are young people, old people, young adults, etc. But if you really want to connect, you either have to serve or join a Life Group. Having said that, they talk about it, but nobody is really pushing you to do it. read more

Nothing against California as I used to live there but they had quite a few guest preachers from California who kind of brought the liberal California politics into their sermons so that was enough for me. Central was one of the first churches that I felt comfortable walking into the first time. Cal is an amazing pastor who is passionate and keeps you wanting more. I never thought wearing a tshirt and jeans would be allowed in church but central is all about you coming as you are to worship the Lord.
