Used Jorge and his team back in September of 2016. The process was that we picked out the flooring we wanted at Old Master products in West LA, make the purchase and then Jorge would come and pick it up. That worked out nicely for us because we were very happy with our selection. I have no complaints about the install job. The main thing bringing my rating down from 5 stars to 3 stars is: For the baseboards, instead of replacing the baseboards with what I wanted, Jorge curtly stated that they were out of stock and instead I had to have quarter-rounds. If this were a simple condo or apt rental property, that would have been fine. But this job was for our primary residence on a 100+ year old 1.5M craftsman home. Who the hell leaves the old baseboards there and install the flooring as if the old baseboards were the wall and then covers it up with quarter-rounds?? Jorge also gave me some attitude when I told him that the painters would paint the quarter-rounds before being installed. I was very inexperienced back then and actually believed him when he said they were all out of stock on anything other than the quarter-rounds. I'm currently renovating my new residence (different location) and with a proper flooring person who is providing me with a nice selection of beautiful baseboards. He also laughed when I told him I didn't want quarter-rounds. He basically said no-one should use quarter-rounds on a house....ever! read more

Jorge restored the wood floors in my home and did a kitchen vinyl install and I have to say it was the easiest and best experience I've had with a home repair. When I first reached out he was able to come to my home within the week and send me an estimated cost shortly after. During the process he was communicative and honest about what repairs needed to be done. He was able to find me solutions to a couple issues that came up (ie. water damage hidden by carpet) and ultimately made my experience with the process so much easier. Absolutely phenomenal experience with Jorge and his team! We had a relatively small job (220 sq ft) and had a lot of different options laid out when he came to look at it. His experience and knowledge helped us choose and he and his team was there within 2 work days to get everything done way above our expectations. We had some tricky corners and fireplace placement they were able to navigate, we could tell right away their attention to detail was such that we didn't need to worry at all. The price was basically what we were quoted by others that didn't have their expertise and I felt like I'm so glad I didn't try to DIY this or go with another company. Jorge is a true craftsman and I am so happy with our newly refinished floors! Although scheduling was a bit difficult (due to our home improvement schedule and Jorge seeming to work nonstop), I am so glad to have stuck with it. As first time home owners navigating a whole new world of contractors, we have had many great experiences but sadly many more rough ones, and the new floors have given us renewed excitement and hope in forging on with the home improvement plan, and Jorge has also helped us work around some issues. For example, we delayed the installation of our shoe moulds until we can fix some drywall issues caused by a handyman. We were really impressed with not only the craftsmanship Jorge brought to the table but also the professionalism. Rarely ... rarely do contractors get it right. I would say for every 20 you interview you find that one shining star. Jorge is that one. I am skeptical of all 5 star review businesses but after this I am so surprised in a good way. He is advanced enough to handle yelp messaging/text messaging/email. I'm busy a lot so talking on the phone is difficult but text/email is the easiest for me. He was able to handle this and also gave me picture updates of his work. It is so refreshing to see someone proud of their work and it shows. He also wasn't the cheapest but also not nearly the most expensive quote I had gotten. It took me a while to post a review since i knew i had so many excellent things to say about Evolution Flooring. Firstly, Jorge is AMAZING. He is super knowledgeable about hardwood floors plus everything else you need to know before you get any flooring projects started which is super helpful so that it helps you sign up for what you're really signing up for. I don't typically write reviews -- in fact, this is only my second review (though I've consumed lots!). Evolution Flooring is the rare business that warrants a review: from beginning to end, working with Jorge and Evolution Flooring was truly spectacular. Responsive, responsible, reasonable and extremely diligent -- Jorge and his team were perfectionists for our project, and their work completely changed our house. I was originally looking for a partner to refinish our floors, as we had purchased a home with dark maple floors and wanted to lighten the look. Jorge and his team were very thorough about testing a number of different stains and finishes, coming back multiple times to see if we could land on a look that we liked. After a lot of discussion, we decided to replace them entirely since we just didn't like the maple look. Jorge couldn't have been more communicative and accommodating about pushing our project dates (even though we were essentially postponing at the last minute) -- and also advised us on the demo. Once it came time for installation of the new wood, Jorge and his team worked 6 days a week for a month to make them perfect. His taste for aesthetic questions (like what direction the wood should go in each room) was great, and he was extremely responsive over text to update on progress. To the end the entire Evolution team was very detail oriented and treated our home as though it was their own. Even to this day, Jorge or his guys will still stop by to touch up small things as necessary. Choosing a partner to work on our floors was very stressful because we knew that getting our floors right would make or break our renovation. Fortunately, Jorge and his team absolutely nailed it. And perhaps just as important, they were incredibly gracious and a pleasure to work with throughout. I couldn't recommend them any more strongly. read more

Jorge has replaced two sets of floors (two different houses) for me and I plan to use him if we ever need to replace a third set. Jorge and his crew did a great job and were very friendly. We purchased our own laminate and his crew installed it despite not being very familiar with that kind of laminate. The crew worked quickly and their time estimate was accurate. After they were done, I discovered a few spots along the wall where some panels weren't secured well. This was understandable due to the crew not being familiar with this type of laminate. A couple of months ago, my husband and I moved into our first home. After some demolition and pulling up old carpets, we were lucky to find hardwood floors, still in awesome condition. Evolution Flooring gave us a great quote to renovate the floors, and Jorge, Albert, and the other workers were exceptionally friendly and professional. They worked tirelessly to finish the floors in less than a week! Including some repairs to our hallway floor, a few areas with termite damage, and removal of the nasty, black, tar-like glue on our bedroom floor. My favorite part was the staining sampling they provided on the floor, with our choice of 6 stains, to preview what it would look like. We were thrilled with the end product! When you do home repairs, you do a lot of research and get a lot of quotes, it's really a frustrating process sometimes. Evolution Flooring was so competitive in every aspect (pricing, timeliness of project completion). I ultimately decided on this company because Jorge was knowledgeable and was able to begin the project the following week. My parents decided to strip the carpet in their home and refinish the oak hardwood underneath; they also wanted it done before the holidays so that my nephews would have a place to play. Other companies who gave quotes either had higher quotes, were unlicensed and bonded, or just weren't honest/knowledgeable about our questionable problem areas. For example, other places said that floor panels in certain areas would have to be replaced because they wouldn't be able to sand out a water stain caused by pet urine. That could cost anywhere from $150+ for parts and labor. Jorge had confidence that the stain would sand out, sure enough it did and is hardly noticeable. When other contractors saw the hallway that had major scratch marks from a shoddy hand sand and finish a few years back, they said that those scratches would not sand out completely since they were deep, they offered suggestions like using a stain so that it's less noticeable. Evolution did an AMAZING job on the hallway, none of those deep scratches are there anymore! I appreciated how accommodating Jorge and his crew were, around the holidays everyone is doing home improvements and they were still able to finish the job in a few days. The only downside to the flooring project was the amount of sawdust on the walls and every possible crevice, as well as the scratches on the floor moldings, door frames, and doors. At least my parents were planning to give their moldings a new coat of paint! Bonus points Jorge & Evolution Flooring for being contactable via text and email. Also appreciated that they came out a week after completion to redo a few spots that didn't come out perfectly. Other services that they do include vinyl hardwood floors and buff and coat for actual hardwood floors. If you've never had to go through the process of removing carpet and refinishing your hardwood floors, here's a time line: Day 1) sand floors and fix problem areas, possible first coat (our first coat didn't happen) Day 2) one coat (first coat in our case) Day 3) one coat (second coat in our case) Day 4) buff & one last coat! read more

We wanted to stain and refinish the original floors in our house before we moved in and I bid out the work to a few different companies. Jorge was so easy to speak with and by far the most affordable. He worked with our timetable, starting on a Saturday so we could get in on time. His estimate of how long it would take was spot on (which rarely seems to happen in the world of construction). He did a great job communicating since we weren't able to be on site every day. The finished product is amazing!! We absolutely love the floors, and the work they put into them to give them new life. Jorge even came out to buff out a scratch from the movers and correct a spot or two that I noticed without charge! One thing to note: I didn't realize that we would need to paint our baseboards after the process because some of the stain got on them. Then when we did paint, the poly finish caused some of the paint to bead up/drip. Not sure if that always happens when you redo floors, but it would have been helpful to know. Also, expect residual dust from the sanding, despite the guys cleaning up. Not a problem since we needed to do a deep clean before moving in anyways.
