We had to demo about a third of a room's original hardwood floor after water damage. We basically had a missing rectangle from our floor. Another contractor from a big company told us we had to replace the entire first floor because the old floor couldn't be sanded again to match the new floor. Luckily, before pulling out a ton of good hardwood, we called around and found Clemente. He said he could make it work by tieing in to the existing floor and only sanding gently in certain places. These guys worked long hours and took care of everything. They painstakingly removed individual boards to weave the new boards into the old pattern naturally. I challenge anyone to figure out where the old line was! Seriously, we've been working with a lot of contractors lately, and just really appreciate Clemente's honesty, skill and speed. Clement and his guys were absolutely great. I had a concrete garage floor that was literally crumbling. The other quotes I got all said I had to rip it out and completely replace it with a new pour at like 3x the cost of GF's fix. But not only did I save money, the floor looks soooooo much better than a fresh pour. Clement patched everything up that needed to be patched, then ground down the old concrete so all the little pebbles and stones that they put into 1920s concrete showed. Then he stained and sealed it, and the effect the stain has on that older style concrete is just breathtaking! Blacks, blues, oranges... all these different textures and colors show through. So much more interesting than a flat new pour would have been. Clement took a lot of care and pride in his work... he really didn't stop until everything was perfect. There were things he worked to make better that I honestly doubt I would have ever caught if he had just skipped them. He was incredibly helpful choosing the stain, bringing multiple options for me to see. And after he started the job, when I asked him to repair a wall as well, he added it on for a completely fair price. I was so happy with the quality, the aesthetic look, the attention to detail, the reliability, and the communication that we ended giving him about a 10% bonus over his original bid. He was nice and on time and did the work, but I can't tell if he didn't want to work for me as a Black person, or we just had a language issue. When we originally met for the estimate, he gave an expression that didn't appear pleased to see "me." In the neighborhood where I live, you don't necessarily expect "me." Clement replied super quickly to my initial request for quote. I wanted to refinish my exotic hardwood floor in a large living room area which was really tough to sand since it had been factory finished with aluminum oxide. His quote was fair and when I inquired about the process it all sounded legit. The sanding was done stepwise from low grit to high grit and they buffed between coats which made the end result super smooth. During the process there was an area left undone, since the fridge had to be moved to work around it. When I noticed and called Clement he immediately responded and sent someone to refinish that area in the kitchen at no cost to us. The project was done on time and on budget! He was very flexible when I asked them to use a commercial grade finish which is typically an overkill for a residential application and let me use my own product for finishing the floors.
