Dr. Freedman is an excellent doctor. He formed this practice to detangle himself from the healthcare industry and yet still provide excellent healthcare service to those in need. Essentially, you pay for the healthcare you need. This is an excellent practice for people who cannot easily afford medical insurance and are shut out of our healthcare system. For myself, I enjoy the fact that The practice is personable and accessible, and I never have a difficult time getting an appointment when I needed it. I think many more people should be considering medical practices such as evolve, yet I still do not find that many. The closest analogy is somewhere like Care first, however, Care first is less of a medical practice run by one doctor and more of a mass healthcare system. When my elderly parents retired to Annapolis, they found Evolve, after being not-very-thrilled with the Internal Medicine practice they'd been attending. And as my (late) Dad had been a New York internist and Health Commisioner, when he said "Dr. Friedman is an absolutely terrific doctor."".. he knew what he was talking about. Dr. Friedman and the entire staff at Evolve, are simply in a higher lever than any other practice I've been to: their care is sincere and thorough, their expertise is extraordinary and everyone on the team, is a gem. I stand corrected, and I can see the quality of service and care still remains in this establishment. After voicing my dissatisfaction with their customer service recently, I was pleasantly surprised that they reached out to my partner and cleared up the misunderstanding regarding the mistaken billing in the last few months. Always SOO great! I can reach them by text and get a response in minutes! Dr availability has never been a problem.. and usually can see me within hours. the lobby and exam rooms are more like visiting the spa vs the DR! Bottom Line: Consistently excellent care by a friendly and personable staff. I love Evolve Direct Primary & Urgent Care so much that I no longer put off or dread seeking medical attention. Evolve offers high quality and personable medical care in a clean and calming environment. Scheduling is easy and I never feel rushed. Originally I just used Evolve as an urgent care but after seeing the value they create I decided to become a member several years ago. I work long hours and travel a lot so I appreciate how customer-service oriented Evolve is. Scheduling is easy via a phone call or chat and I've never been left waiting for long periods of time. For some ailments I've been able to do telehealth visits and often I can get my prescriptions from Evolve before I walk out the door. The office seems to run on time and I know they honor their patient's time. Dr. Freedman is very humble and personal and it probably goes without saying, super smart. There has been staff turnover since I started going to Evolve about seven years ago but everyone is always awesome and exhibits the same core values of Evolve. Here's my options : my primary is in RI (a nurse practitioner) ... feeling really poor I needed to get someone to listen to my lungs and offer specific observations based on community and national trends in light of my general good health. I also needed to know if the NyQuil Would interfere with my current daily meds. I looked at ordinary urgent care and was put off by the short appt window, difficulty in getting the time I needed, and I was unlikely to want to wait in a room with many other sick folk! Ez to make appt. HALF hour time slots (longer if needed), ez paperwork forms on line, and I was taken asap and alone in waiting room (whew!). Niiiice offices ... relaxing (also seems good eats next store!!) Lauren, NP addressed all my concerns and offered observations that helped (e.g. come in earlier to avoid suffering, consider some meds to avoid coughing triggers) The drawback is what makes this facility ez on paperwork & less crowded is no help with insurance. Pay with cc card or bank account when you are taken. A bit of a hassle but doesn't deter me from going again if needed. This is as close to a concierge medical experience for us regular folk. This clinic is phenomenal! As always, my visit went very smoothly and Meghan has the best bedside manners. She really took her time to listen to me. That is so rare. Check in, wait times, face to face time with my Nurse Practitioner, labs, EKG all done in a blink of an eye. This is such a good medical model. If I could give zero stars, I would. On check out, I was given the PHI of a caucasion male, about 35-40 years of age patient, checking out about 10 minutes prior to my appt. at 6:30pm, Thurs. Sept 09, 2023 . I spoke to Dr. Freeman about this, and he grabbed the information out of my hand, basically assaulting me. This, as we all know is a HIPAA violation, a huge error in the medical field. A federal violation. I you want your PHI floating around Annapolis, this is the Primary Care place for you. read more

What a great place to go when you need a doctor and you don't want to wait for hours. I hurt my back and needed to be seen and my jnsurance carrier gave me a few names to call and they told me it would be a week to get me in. I was able to get in and Dr Mike saw me right away. New to the area and mosquito bitten to the max, my husband wanted me to go to Urgent Care before I lost a limb. My mosquito bites I acquired the week prior while hiking (per my mother in law's request, I prefer indoors and A/C) decided to react about 5 days after I was bitten. At first, I told myself, "don't scratch them." Being a native from San Diego, I never experienced camping and avoid areas where bugs seem to congregate. Hence, I only experienced mosquito bites a handful of times growing up... Maybe a bite or two every few years. That night (5 days after bite going into the 6th), I woke up to find tea tree oil, isopropyl alcohol, hand sanitizer... Anything to douse myself in to avoid scratching and alleviate the pain. That morning (6th day) I woke up and the bites around my ankles were throbbing and kind of hot. It was difficult to walk. I iced my bites. I took a Benadryl and bought topical calamine lotion and topical Benadryl gel. I used the calamine lotion which got me to sleep through the night but avoided taking the Benadryl since it warned against taking additional diphenhydramine, topical or orally. The morning after (7th day), I woke up and was immobile. I couldn't walk! Or at least put any weight on my left leg, which was now HOT, red and swollen. I hobbled and crawled around. My husband looked on yelp for an urgent care provider and found Evolve Medical Center. They were able to see me the same day. We went into Evolve and it was a clean, quaint little business. We were checked in. I paid for the visit cost. It was only $85. I don't believe Tricare covered it which is fine. I had my vitals taken by a nice MA and was seen by Dr. Kastle Donovan. She was lovely (very cute pregnant lady). She saw my ankle and was as alarmed as I was! She checked out my other bug bites and we all agreed that it was most likely infected due to the radiating heat and redness and I was most likely allergic. She prescribed a strong antibiotic to fight off the infection and a topical steroid since the calamine and Benadryl gel probably wasn't strong enough. She advised me that I should see a huge difference by the weekend but if my condition worsens or doesn't get better, come in within 5 days and there wouldn't be an additional charge since I would be seen for the same issue. Overall, I would go back to this practice. The place was clean and the service was fast and friendly. read more

I'm a nurse but I avoid getting routine medical care. I hate waiting, I always feel uncomfortable at appointments because I have the sense that the provider is on to the next patient before I can ask questions (or paying more attention to documenting on some silly electronic medical record instead of looking at me) and, as a military beneficiary, I always get a new provider at every visit that doesn't have the time or the experience to look at the whole picture of patient care. After a few years of just going to the urgent care whenever something immediate needed looking at (I do NOT recommend this as a cost-effective manner to get health care) I finally decided to check out Dr. Freedman at Evolve. When I saw on his bio that he has an undergrad from Michigan (Go Blue!!) I was hoping that it would be a good fit. When I finally got motivated to make an appointment for a physical/well woman visit, I was pleased that I could get an appointment within the week. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The waiting room feels more like a coffee house than a medical office and, although it is very clean, it doesn't have that sterile, hostile lighting and smell that you find at most clinics. The assistant that worked with me seemed new to the field but she was gentle and patient and did all of the correct assessments. Dr. Freedman was awesome. I work with a lot of doctors who have the social skills of an eggplant, but Dr. Freedman actually knows how to have a conversation while asking questions and LISTENING to the answers. What a novelty, right? I won't go so far as to say the PAP was a comfortable experience but at least I wasn't kept waiting in a cold office with nothing but a sheet on for 45 minutes (this actually happened to me at my last appointment at another clinic some years ago). I got all of my referrals before I left and I would feel comfortable calling if I have any further questions. Bottom line--highly recommend Dr. F and the Evolve practice. I called because my son was in contact with someone who tested positive for the Corona Virus. As promised, I received an appointment the same day, even though I called late in the afternoon. I spoke to Megan who walked through everything that happened, explained what level our exposure was and what precautions we should take. She also addressed what would be the next steps if anyone showed symptoms. She answered every question and gave us the confidence they would be there to help navigate any next steps needed. I love having them as my doctors, they are always available and never make you feel like you are overreacting, you never feel rushed and your call always seems important to them. I signed up with Evolve in 2016, and found that I LOVED Dr. Freedman and the staff - they just "got" me and understood my needs. Sadly I bought into the "must have healthcare" or risk being penalized in 2017. I went to the other provider because I was paying handsomely every single month, and stayed even though I felt dismissed by the medical staff. After a year of that and a substantial rate hike, I had enough. I never stopped my subscription to Evolve and am happy to say that I am back in the care of a Doctor that just gets me and my needs. I hate doctors. With that said, Dr. Freedman and Evolve is outstanding. Their technology makes it easy to manage your health. When you make an appointment you are seen ON TIME and the doctor will spend more than the insurance-mandated 3.2 minutes discussing your concerns. It is a concierge type practice, but even with insurance, it may end up saving you some bucks. Freedman is not beholden to insurance companies. I had a prescription and it was $500+ and not covered by my plan. Dr. Freedman provided an alternate source that allowed me to pick it up in a different pharmacy for $30. Nice! Comfortable waiting room, great staff. A definite 5 from me! read more

Evolve felt more like a spa than a doctor's office with its dimly lit waiting area. But beyond a nice ambiance, Evolve's staff genuinely seemed to care about providing excellent customer service, and I didn't have to wait forever to be seen. When I was seen, I didn't feel like I was being rushed out the door. I particularly appreciated that the doctor didn't have his face in an iPad the entire time. I know many doctors use the iPad now, but it drives me nuts when they can't seem to look away from a screen to talk to me. My experience at Evolve was better than that at my PCP.
