Oh my goodness. Darius and Flynn gave my husband and me the best massages of our lives. We've gotten many a massage (on cruise lines, spas, etc) and this was absolutely the best. Worth every penny. The atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxing. Darius asked a few times during the massage if I was comfortable, but not so many times that it became annoying. Very disappointed by the lack of customer service and professionalism. A massage and facial were scheduled for me as a surprise. The facial was wonderful, although not worth the price. I am currently pregnant and a prenatal massage was not scheduled as it was a gift. The salon was unwilling to modify my massage in any way, doing just arms, legs, or feet, etc. The girl working the front desk was very rude and basically told me oh well it was my fault and that the massage could not be modified and that I would not receive any money back or any type of credit. I cannot give Evolve a 5 star because although the service Keri provided was exceptional, they must have rooms upstairs and my relaxing facial was interrupted by constant stomping from above. The Groupon Gods were smiling upon me with this deal! I got a massage, facial, and waxing last Saturday. Making an appointment was super easy, and they'll e-mail you confirmation and a day-before reminder. I hate talking on the phone, so this was a plus. It's located right across the street from Casbah in a converted old house. The interior has a modern, zen-ish feel, and the staff were professional, accommodating and nice. I started with the Primal Relaxation massage, which was a fantastic Swedish massage. The masseuse was skilled and friendly, and she worked her magic as I relaxed on their heated bed. A white noise machine is used, and while it blocked out most of the S Highland Av noise, I could still hear the occasional motorcycle and siren. Next was facial and waxing. The waxing was efficient and not painful. The Seasonal Organic Facial was your typical facial: steam, cleansing, masque, extractions, moisturize. My only complaint is that I still have some marks from a few of the extractions. A few tips: bring quarters for the parking meters & they allow you to tip on a credit card. read more

My friend and I both received mani/pedis at Evolve this morning. Our experience was less than pleasant. We were stationed up front by the entrance where several employees and clients were constantly in and out of the door making it difficult to relax. Although the staff was friendly, the two women doing our nails engaged in conversation about how much other clients tipped them. My friend and I found this to be very awkward and uncomfortable. Most importantly, my nails looked terrible. Not only were there not enough coats applied to my nails, the nail polish was all over my skin. I find it very annoying to drop $65 on a mani/pedi only to get home and have to redo my nails. Good thing I brought my own polish. read more

I was given services here as a gift and was hoping for a tranquil and "special" experience. I didn't have a great experience, and wouldn't return. The website gives the impression of this being a higher end but affordable "spa," but the atmosphere and attention to detail were lacking. I had a massage and manicure. The masseuse was technically very good and worked on couple of problem areas really well. She was very thorough and responsive, did a great job with the spots I mentioned. On the other hand, it was a hot stone massage and I don't think that was really her "thing." Most of the stones were so hot they had to be removed; this happened numerous times so I was kind of on edge waiting for the next one each time. I haven't had that experience with a hot stone massage elsewhere. It also just wasn't very relaxing; the stones felt like an afterthought rather than being integrated into the strokes. I would schedule with her again for a different type of massage, but not hot stone again. I think a good spa should know the staff's strengths and weaknesses and assign customers accordingly so this doesn't happen. I can't think of anything good to say about the manicure. I sat at a high table in the window on a freezing day as staff chattered at the front desk and people came in and out. Not relaxing, spa-like, or professional at all, more like the local beauty shop. The technician was drinking from an open fast food cup while doing my nails and snacking right next to me as my nails dried- not a very hygienic practice. My "citrus manicure" was actually a really fast basic manicure with some incredibly strong smelling off brand fruity lotion at the end. I specifically scheduled the citrus because the other manicure option had strong smelling oils and I wanted to avoid that. The high table and stool were uncomfortable for a manicure, so following my massage I'm sitting there perched on a stool, crammed into a cold corner with my shoulders hunched up around my ears and an overwhelming smell making my head hurt. Just really disappointing overall. One poor woman in a spa robe walked by through the busy waiting and manicure area and you could see right through the robe; I can't believe they had her change and walk through like that. All of this is somewhat nitpicky, but created an atmosphere I wouldn't want to return to and I wanted to share the details for others making the same decision. On the other hand, if you need an every day run of the mill basic service, the prices are decent and it's not a bad place- again just nothing fancy or particularly "sap like." read more

I have been in Evolve Wellness Spa for past two years. I visited there at least once a month to get a massage. I experienced massages from all female staffs except one, and I will talk about the best three female staffs (I have never gotten massages from male staffs). Kalina - She is my most favorite one. She has a massage style closest to chiropractic one. Of course, she doesn't twist your neck or waist. Rather, while she gives you a massage, she gives you a light stretching of your body. She also has powerful fingers. So if you want something less than a chiropractic treatment, but more than just a massage, I recommend her strongly. She also has a fastest massage speed compared to other staffs. She works fast not to miss any of your body part she can massage. Rachel (Not Rachael Janelle who I haven't tried yet) - If you want more relaxed, soft styled massage, go for her. She has a similar massage style to Kalina's but with less force and no chiropractic component (no stretching). Helen - I think she is most experienced female massage staff in Evolve Wellness Spa. She has a massage style between Kalina and Rachel. Only one negative thing about her was that when I got relaxation massages from her about a year ago, she charged extra $10-$15 for her massage oil. I am not sure whether she still charges extra money for her oil. Please ask a receptionist about extra charge when you make an appointment with Helen.When I got Hot Stone massage from her, she didn't charge extra money. All these three massage staffs have great skill. They just simply have different styles. They also always give you a full time massage (55-60 minutes for 1 hour massage, 85-90 minutes for 1.5 hour massage). They are also friendly, don't hesitate to tell what you want. I have been going to Evolve for almost 5 years and have never had a negative experience. The staff is gracious, professional, and extremely competent. I am a Helen junkie for her energy based massages. She is always able to take me from grumpy to happy in 90 minutes. She was unavailable yesterday when I was desperate for bodywork so I chose Kalina. Wow! This woman can really deliver. Sounds bad...it's not that sort of massage spa. What I mean is that she can work specific muscle groups and destroy tension and tightness like no ones business.
