I was looking for herbal teas in Chinatown and found this place on Google. They had an assortment of the popular loose teas like Chrysanthemum, Lavendar, rose buds, jasmine, and ginseng & burdock root. These are sold by the pound. Others are pre packaged tins of tea or the boxed tea bags. They have a variety of herbal pills. They also accept credit card. The woman working there was helpful and mentioned they have a traditional Chinese medicine doctor available. For $20 he could do a consult on any concerns you want to target and prescribe herbs/teas as needed. Just call 20 min in advance and you can be seen for $20. She spoke good English and said she could be a translator if you come in to see the doctor. I'll have to try this sometime! Friendly staff. read more

I was really sick one year. I thought I was going to die. Came here and within 5 days I was a 100%. Sat down with their doctor $15. He spoke no English so it was translated through Jenny. Asked me about my ailments. He then wrote a prescription. $55 5day potion. Within 3 days I was feeling much better. This really works. I have been coming here for years. Jenny and her brother are owners of this Herb shop in Chinatown. I have had other ailments where I've gone to Western doctors. They gave me Z pack 5 days nothing. Went to see doctor in Chinatown. Wrote a script Within 3 days I was feeling a 80%. You have to boil 5 cups of water add your script of herbs. Boil for 1hour then drink this nasty smelling mix of bark, roots and I did recognize one ingredient Abalone shell. This works. For me anyway. read more

I came back for the herbal appointments. I saw the Chinese Herbalist - cost $20 / he checked my blood pressure, and my pulse then he listened my symptoms very carefully. (translation in Bet) He Wrote me An own prescription. It started working after 5days finally. I decided to take another week again. It helps me well I think this herbs affects me slowly. I was told every person affects differently. There's a guideline: you can't use the metal pots to make the tea. it's better buy at the store - cost $30. It's Quite big and heavy. So you should bring a Carrier/cone with car. Mixed herb for 6days is also heavy. How to make herb - put one pack to the pot. fill out half water.( or bit extra) Wait till boiled- it takes about 20min. Then, small fire about 70min. Transfer to the Cup. Add another water (about 8oz) / small fire about 70min. You can take this morning and night. I'm happy to come back here again. It's not so cheap but it works. highly recommend. PS: if you're unhappy with your Medical Dr/ scribed the medication that won't work or made you worse, this place is also for you. please try it. Then judge. I went to other herbalist in Chinatown, I was giving just powder to mix it. Unfortunately, Nothing happened. But, This place, the herbalist knew why I came to see him before I open my mouth. As I was in Chinatown for dinner, I decided to stop somewhere for dried longan . It's a fruit that I love to munch on and after seeing a sign for this herbal store, I checked and this place had it in the window. They have prepackaged as well as loose longan and the prepackaged is $8.95 for 8 oz/half a pound which is reasonable. Compared to other places I have found in the area, the longan is fantastic here being fresher and not nearly as dry. The friendly woman there also said in a proud tone that their longan lacks preservatives and also to combine it with sticky rice which was some friendly nice advice. All in all a pleasant change than most other places (at least when a white guy like me shows up) and I will be back for more fruits and other goods. read more

Based on the phone call alone I feel very strongly about Ewa and the direction I want to go for healing into a possible full recovery. The owners are friendly, knowledgeable, fluent in both Chinese and English, and proud of the products and services this Mom and Pop (literally, the owners are a couple) has to offer. I never hesitate to inquire about remedies available for even the most minute problems, and was always pleasantly surprised to find them ready for purchase. The store is very clean and the staff is very friendly. I went in there looking for specific ingredients - Jujube berries and Chinese Yam, to make some soup. Little did I know they have soup and tea packs! I bought one and made it at home and it tasted great! Next time I'd love to try the other pre-assembled packs. Excellent little shop on Mulberry Street. The inside resembles a pharmacy and once you poke around the shelves, you quickly understand why. There are herbal remedies for almost any ailment you can think of. Tons of cold medicines, teas, and even an herbal supplement for thyroid problems. I wandered into this place last night looking to refill my herbal supplement that I usually purchase online. I was pleasantly surprised by the great service I received. They did not have exactly what I was looking for however, the herbalist suggested alternatives that I decided to purchase since many of the ingredients were the same as my regular supplements. She definitely knew what she was talking about and was able to speak English (which can be hard to find in Chinatown). Also, the prices were very affordable.
