Darrell, the owner, and his worker Nate were fantastic from start to finish. We originally noticed a bump in the bathroom floor that turned out to be a moisture issue. A mitigation company came in to remove the damaged flooring and toilet and dry everything out. After that, we started collecting quotes from contractors--and chose Darrell because he was by far the most straightforward and transparent. He took the time to explain everything clearly, gave us a fair quote, and didn't sugarcoat anything. Once we agreed to move forward, Darrell even handled communication with our insurance company and got the project covered. That alone was a huge help. The work itself turned out great. Darrell and Nate installed new subflooring, laminate that we picked out, and new baseboards. After the job was done, we did notice a couple of minor issues--one with the baseboard seal and another with the threshold transition that my wife wasn't happy with. Darrell came back out promptly and made sure both were addressed to our satisfaction. I've included some photos of the bathroom after mitigation and the finished result--the difference speaks for itself. Great company, easy to work with, and reliable. We're already considering another bathroom remodel, and we'll absolutely be going with Darrell again.

That and our comfort with Darrell made our choice easy. We made some big changes to our second story deck, so it took some time for a structural engineer to get plans in place but, the final product was well worth the wait. Darrell and Ed worked to make sure our deck was sturdy and well built. We now have an extended deck with awning that actually comes from above the roof line. They took a kitchen to the studs and built a masterpiece for my wife and me. How much do we love them? We rehired them to renovate our master bathroom completely. The fact that we rehired them should tell you all that you need to know about how amazing they are. So, again, the best review is that we are using them again, and you should use them too because they are the best. What made them the best: 1) They helped us save a lot of money. They have a unique approach to ordering materials for the project. They let us know what they needed, and we ordered it directly. We ordered the new cabinets, the new doors, the new appliances, etc. By doing this, there was no additional markup on the items ordered, and it saved us a lot of money. Other contractors we met with didn't want to do this, and their quotes were at least 20 percent more than PDX Homeworks. 2) Their work. Unlike other contractors that we have had in the past. When they saw something that wasn't quite right but that we would never know about, they didn't just cover it up and move on; THEY MADE IT RIGHT. Not to mention that their work is very precise. I once watched Nick get so frustrated when he was leveling the kitchen as he tried to level everything because it was off, to me, an imperceptible amount. At least the amount was imperceptible to me, but to Nick, it wasn't perfectly level, and he continued until it met his exacting needs. 3) Helping with design. We were amazed at how painless the whole design process of our kitchen was. We gave Amanda some inspirational pictures, and she came back with a fantastic design that only required a few minor tweaks. THANK YOU, AMANDA. 4) They only work on one project at a time. It is just Nick, Amanda, and Kailash. They don't have multiple crews doing multiple jobs that they are overseeing. They were at our house every day, working and working. It was so lovely that we had consistency in seeing them every day. 5) They're very clean. Every day, they would use drop cloths on the ground to make sure they didn't get the carpets dirty. I even told them that they didn't need to do that because I was getting the carpets cleaned after they were done. They didn't listen to me and continued to use drop cloths every day. They also vacuumed and cleaned up every day. It was a very clean renovation. 6) They are just the nicest people. It was great getting to know them during the whole process of our renovation. They don't do this type of work to become huge builders with millions of dollars of work completed every year. They are just the nicest people who love remodeling, helping people out, and helping them save money where they can.
