ETA: my appointment was a couple of weeks ago, so it's odd that they couldn't find me recently. Makes me think they aren't thorough. So even though my experience with the front desk was positive, this makes me question them. Overall this was a standard urgent care. I liked how quickly I could schedule an appointment and how friendly the front desk was. The issue was that the PA could not actually properly treat me because the beds don't recline at all. I had to see another specialist and pay another copay for a service I should have gotten from them. She was nice but I didn't feel like the level of care matched what I should have received. read more

Worst experience I have ever had at a medical facility . P.A . Avital Tsymbal was extremely rude , intrusive and argumentative very unprofessional. At one point raining her voice and threatening not to administer the the test of which I had a prescription and paid for . My advice is to find a different place and not waste your time . The practitioners are very pleasant though I've never seen an actual doctor when visiting this location. Quite honestly, I would not recommend this business. They have made mistakes with billing and insurance more than once. It took several phone calls with their centralized billing department (who was very nasty and acted as if I was a delinquent because they billed incorrectly and I wouldn't pay until it was corrected - BTW, when corrected, I owed zero). Back to the care - the non-doctor medical professionals are very nice and clearly care about the patients. The treatment provided was quick and seemed to be good. I tried to book an appointment online this morning, as my 3 year old is sick and his doctor is closed on Thursday's. The website is malfunctioning. After 3 virtual attempts, I called the office. They told me repeatedly to just walk in. When I explained that my wife would need to go down with a sick 3 year old and a 2 month old baby, and sitting for a long time wouldn't be a great option, the person on the phone simply said "you can just walk in, sir," dismissing my concerns after I specifically asked to make an appointment. This is what I'm saying - service is important, and the standard of service quality seems to be a company wide issue with excel urgent care. Based on operational issues, I can not recommend this place. The only reason we go here in a pinch is because it is in town. If it's not truly urgent, I would go to my actual doctor. The only reason for the 2 star rating instead of 1 is because the people providing the medical care are friendly and helpful. Seek care elsewhere if you have the option! read more

Had a case of "swimmer's ear". Very painful! Of course it was weekend after primary cares closed. Online I was able to get an early morning appointment with Excel urgent care, Chester, NJ. The staff were very efficient & the Nurse Practitioner was great. She not only ordered the antibiotic ear drops, but told me to get OTC mineral oil & flush ear canals every week! Made a Covid test for my husband who was exposed. When he arrived right on time he was told he'd have to wait regardless of his appointment time because "they take walk in's". Was told 7+ people "walked in" and would be seen before him. Why offer and make an appointments if those who just show up are taken ahead of you? I find this confusing. read more

My wife and I were tested over two week ago ( today is 8 July) After 10 days I received a call stating I was negative. I asked about my wife's test but they had no answer... and as of today we still have not received her results. At this time it's a moot point since she has no symptoms , but imagine if she had the virus... all this time to infect others! This care facility is not a reliable operation . Search other alternatives both for testing and care!!! I received a response which basically said " it's not our fault it's the lab. Nonsense ... you are offering a service ; if you are unable to complete that service then don't offer it ... don! tell your clients that it's someone else's fault. Professional and friendly staff. I went in for a Covid test and couldn't be happier with the level of care received. Doc came in after the tech and spent significant time checking me out and answering all of my questions. There was some waiting but that's to be expected during these busy times. I went there in the past and got great service, but something has changed with the management or ownership, and now it has totally gone downhill they no longer have drs there but rns that spend about 5 mins with you after you wait for an hour to see them even if you have an appointment. I had a bronchial infection over the winter that lasted through December and January and had to make three trips back there because they could not diagnose it correctly. I am getting bills now for that service and called and made a payment arrangement with them and received in the mail after one payment a note from their collection agency they gave no notice that they were turning it over and put me in collections very bad practice. I would not return here or recommend you ever go to this location. read more

I called this place to inquire about their COVID test which they advertise in their website. The receptionist said "they don't do that there." I tried to explain that the website says so but she completely dismissed me. I asked for a manager and she said there is no manager. I asked for her name and she hung up the phone on me. I'm disappointed!!! I'm super nervous because my kids and I were exposed to someone who tested positive and in this difficult time, the last thing I need is poor customer service and rudeness. Went to this facility as a walk in for a covid test and additionally made an Appointment online for the following day. When I walked in the staff was rude. I explained why I was there to which their response was they had no walk-ins for Covid testing although their voicemail leads you to believe that you can walk in and open for a test. I went the following day for my scheduled appointment and was told it doesn't matter if you have an appointment they are in emergency facility and you need to wait. Office staff with the exception of the Dr. were rude. I can only imagine if I was sick how I would've felt about this interaction. As if I was annoying them by walking in. read more

When you are not feeling well a pleasant experience seems unlikely. Every time I have been to this urgent care it has been as pleasant as possible. Staff are lovely, the medical professionals are always great. This time I saw Lauren who was fantastic. She was friendly, helpful, and compassionate. I've visited this Urgicare and have always had a good experience. Today I was surprised to learn that i had to pay for a flu shot out of pocket despite the fact that they accept my insurance. I've had a flu shot at this facility before and have had to provide a copay but nothing more. I was lectured by the receptionist that Excel Urgicare is a "different business", and that they don't carry the quantity of vaccines that a Walgreens does and that it is a "money" thing. Well, the website clearly promotes flu vaccination referencing CDC guidelines so I'm confused by these statements. When I suggested to the receptionist that she inform people up front about this policy before they spend the time filling out forms and providing ID she became defensive and argumentative. Im disappointed by the unprofessional and ignorant staff and wouldn't recommend a visit unless you absolutely have no choice. read more

This was one of the most unprofessional experiences I have ever encountered in a so-called medical setting. I consistently received inaccurate or misinformation. Staff were rude. Terrible place would never use them again nor recommend them under any circumstances. My cat gets treated better at her vet. With all due respect to the strain medical staff are under simple communication and accurate information is so important for patients. I cannot place the blame with stress due to COVID as these people were condescending, lacked any concern for me as a patient and were generally disrespectful. read more

Avoid totally unless you have nothing to do with your life. Ok I understand we have the whole COVID 19. I get you have to make an appointment and they prefer you do it online. Ok I did all that. They even sent me a confirmation email. Great right. WRONG the email did state that 1- call when you get here from you car 2- you will need to wait on your car till we call you back. So after they send me back to my car even though I spoke to a person I called and they told me that they were running about it 25 minutes behind. Why have appointments if you can't keep them. Maybe you should not schedule them every 10 minutes apart. If I didn't need to get this test for work I would have left. So just plan on losing a good 2 hours of your day. Because people can't schedule correctly. And by the way I had to wait over 40 minutes. read more

I had an appointment at 4:35 to get a rapid test. Waited an hour from my car and then called to make sure they didn't forget about me. I was hung up on. The receptionist was rude and brought me into a dirty room. The paper sheet that covers the chair was clearly wrinkled from someone else's behind. She didn't even rip it off before asking me to sit down on it. And the doctor I saw told me information that blatantly contradicts what the state department of health says. It was a mess. read more

Front staff seemed to be bothered we showed up ( while there was no one waiting in the waiting office or didn't appear to even be busy when we arrived) they then proceeded to ask questions that made us feel like they were trying to make us feel bad for not having an appointment and showing up (( note : their website & automated systems states walk-in ins welcome )). It was less than WELCOMING ! Then the doctor gave wrong info & we double asked questions because we were confused she then said o sorry I just came from the night shift she appeared exhausted and that she needed rest . I'm aware she's prob overworked BUT if your dealing with people & URGENT matters I feel it should be mandated certain amount of sleep / rest before seeing people to ensure safety for everyone! read more

My wife set up appointment for my 3 sons (7,8,12) for covid testing the night before and was able to get appointment times for all three the following morning (great)! The front desk over the phone was very polite when I finally got someone to answer. When we walked in the Medical Assistant had no personality at all and was rude as well. She asked why I was there and when I started telling her she cut me off abruptly in mid sentence and said "Are you here for a covid test?" With the same attitude! She then walked out of the room I'm assuming to get the covid materials. When she left I looked at the counter and saw a clipboard with a covid form on it. The form was completely filled out with a patients complete information. It was probably the patient's info just before me but who knows how many other patients were in the room before I got in there who read this form as I did! When I tell you it was complete I mean complete including Name, DOB, SSN, address, telephone number, spouses name and telephone. COMPLETE! It's a good thing I'm an honest person! When she came back in she asked for some personal info about my youngest who was going to go first (7y/o). She then walked over to him pulled his mask down and jabbed a cotton swap into both nostrils without warning or instruction and moved on to the next set of paper work! Needless to say my son was crying at this point. Same thing continued to happen with the other two. She told us we had to see the doctor and walked out. At this point it was getting close to 9am and my kids had to start school remotely and I was told the office was unsure of the time the doctor would be in. I told the MA I was going to the car to get their chrome books so they can start school and she said "the children can't be left alone!" I told the boys to come with me and told her I would be right back. When I returned, less then 30 secs later, she told me that my appointments were terminated because I left and I would not be allowed back in the room and would not be able to see the doctor. She said "we can have people walking in and out." I asked to speak to supervisor and was told I could call the number and speak to her that way but that I needed to leave. Linda the supervisor was very nice and told me she address everything I just told her and that I should come back and see the doctor anytime that was convenient for me. However, the kids would also need to be swabbed again because they didn't save the specimen. Never will I go back or recommend this place to anyone! And I will be reporting this HIPPA violation to the state! read more

I had an appointment scheduled for 12:04. I was then told to wait in my car, I called into the office twice and was told it would only be 30 minutes more twice. 2 hours later I am called to come in and then had to wait an additional 30 minutes to see a doctor once in the room. I understand there are delays but there was no communication as to a delay or updates in waiting time. I could have left and came back in two hours. There was additionally no apologies or acknowledgment for the extreme delay. However doctor was knowledgeable and efficient and got me in and out quickly. read more

I had a really awful experience at this urgent care. I decided to go in for a covid test/ sinus infection. I waited for a half hour before the nurse came in. He was very nice, but the doctor that followed was extremely rude and barely gave me the time of day. She didn't greet me when coming in, and when I asked her to repeat when she asked "what are you here for" she rolled her eyes and raised her voice. I went on to explain my symptoms and she rushed the physical exam, touching my sinuses and snapping my mask down to look down my throat. She then wrote a prescription, did not tell me what it was for, and walked out without saying anything. I didn't know what I got prescribed, what sort of precaution to take, or when I would get my covid results. It was extremely unprofessional and I felt so rushed. I have never had such an awful experience at an urgent care. I definitely would go somewhere else. read more

Three generations of my family have used this facility until yesterday when I went there after a fall to see if I had a concussion and they refused to do a concussion evaluation, would not even see me and told me to go to the emergency room!!! I was driving myself and did not want to go to Morristown. Every other doctor does a concussion evaluation before sending patients to the emergency room. read more

I have been to Excel Urgent Care of Chester three or four times now and I leave each visit with a sense of relief, as I feel well-taken care of. At other Urgent Care centers, I've had unpleasant experiences even when calling for an appointment. Here, the front desk staff is friendly, kind, and accommodating, which alleviates much of my anxiety. The nurses and doctors are thorough (I never feel rushed or unheard) and know what they're talking about. I would recommend this facility to anyone in the area!! I went today for a COVID-19 test and I only waited for about 20 minutes (many other testing sites are backed up for hours) before receiving a call to come in. read more
