We sat outside surrounded by greenery, large umbrellas, and plenty of natural light. Even with a full patio, it still felt comfortable for a long lunch and conversation. I ordered the Pan Seared Salmon with a pistachio and coconut crust, roasted carrots, and cumin vinaigrette. The salmon was cooked beautifully, and I loved the texture from the crust. The roasted carrots added a little sweetness without competing with the fish. My friend had a salad topped with grilled chicken, and we shared an order of fries. I also had one of their cocktails, which arrived with an orchid garnish and felt perfect for an afternoon on the patio. Service was attentive throughout lunch, and we never felt hurried even as the patio stayed busy. Casaléna also offers valet, which I appreciated given the Ventura Boulevard location. I'm glad I finally checked it out. I loved it enough that I ended up coming back for dinner for a birthday celebration, which probably says more than anything else I could add.

Drinks * Watermelon Margarita: Refreshing, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented with a salted rim and fresh melon garnish. * Lychee & Yuzu Martini: Crisp, delicate, and citrus-forward without being overly sweet. Elegantly topped with an orchid flower. Starters & Mains * Stracciatella: Creamy, rich, and dressed with fresh arugula, crushed pistachios, and olive oil. Served alongside warm, perfectly toasted crostini for dipping. * Beef Tartare: Exceptionally fresh and well-seasoned, finished with finely grated cheese, capers, and crispy bread toasts that added a great textural crunch. * New York Steak: Seared with a deep, flavorful crust and tender center. Served alongside a bright, herbaceous chimichurri that cut through the richness of the beef perfectly. Room for Improvement * Mashed Potatoes: The only real letdown of the evening. They lacked seasoning and suffered from a dense, gluey, and slightly grainy consistency--reminiscent of boxed instant potatoes rather than a fresh side. Verdict Despite the missed mark on the side dish, the rest of the culinary and bar program at Casaléna is top-notch. I will definitely be returning for the drinks, raw bar/starters, and steaks!

I hear they were expecting over 500 people and it felt like it! Some lines got to over 20 minute waits. Highlights on food/drinks - Alta Adams - Black eye pea fritters - Fried to a golden ball was the fritter, yummy! The sauce had just enough spices and heat. Bavel - Scallop Crudo - pomegranate molasses, citrus, Serrano chili oil, cucumber and mint. One of my fave items of the night. Majordomo - Short Rib Ssam (lettuce wrap) and condiments. Most plates came with butter lettuce and meat on top and you add your own condiments. Then there were the huge short rib plates. They reminded me of Fred Flintstone. Ma'am Sir - Mango moose with tamarind tapioca and honey meringue. Yummy!! The flavors blended so well together. Make sure to take get all the flavors in. SO YUM! Love & Salt - Squash and burrata with honey, brown butter, sage and peptitas. This was a delicious app to start the night. Riboli Family from San Antonio Winery were pouring some yummy Stella Rosa and Cabernet Sauvignon. Flying Embers Brewery were pouring their Hard Kombucha. I got to try the Berry and Lemon. Both were good, but I liked Berry better. Maker's Mark Whisky had some signature cocktails and I go to try the Bourbon and Sand, and Gold Rush. The bartender made our drinks strong! Yum yum! Porsche was one of the sponsors and provided a couple cars for us to get up close and personal with. They had valet parking available. The portable restrooms were some of the best I've encountered. I wish all of them were like that. Maybe we were lucky to be of the first to use them too. This is the 6th annual event for best restaurants. Definitely recommended.

Mary is the Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and owner of Epitome Med Spa and I've been very happy with every interaction we've had! From early emails asking about gift cards and price, to exchanging Yelp Messages to schedule an initial appointment, and the two times I've been in the spa, she has been wonderful! When talking about neurotoxins, she gave me the rundown of what she has (all of them), how some people prefer one type over the other, what she uses on herself, etc. Once we decided, then it was about how much and we took a moderate approach, as you can always get more if needed, but you can't really undo it if it's too much. After 2 weeks, I called for a follow-up appointment, as a couple areas needed a little touch up. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes! But, before I left, I was able to get a quick and inexpensive quote for some milia diathermy, which I will schedule after my vacation. As many have said, Mary doesn't try to upsell you on other products, even though I'm sure her expert opinion has some other procedures in mind for all the faces she sees, lol! There is an easy-to-miss narrow turn to go into the parking lot right after the spa (which is immediately next door to Casalena). There are also meters in front that offer 2-hour parking. If you're looking for non-surgical intervention for your skin, go see Mary!
