I ordered the Pan Seared Salmon with a pistachio and coconut crust, roasted carrots, and cumin vinaigrette. The salmon was cooked beautifully, and I loved the texture from the crust. The roasted carrots added a little sweetness without competing with the fish. My friend had a salad topped with grilled chicken, and we shared an order of fries. I also had one of their cocktails, which arrived with an orchid garnish and felt perfect for an afternoon on the patio. Service was attentive throughout lunch, and we never felt hurried even as the patio stayed busy. Casaléna also offers valet, which I appreciated given the Ventura Boulevard location. My Mom would often smell of soiled diapers that were never changed while we were there and on one occasion my Mom would have chocked to death if her friend Tony wasn't there visiting. There is 1 caregiver taking care of 6 people which is standard but in this case not sufficient. The night shift is even worse. The night my mom died we couldn't find anyone to help us. There was a guy sleeping on the couch in the living room who we thought was a visitor but it turned out he was the caregiver. The owner of this facility Jojomaureli Salamero , is not hands on and lacks empathy and compassion two traits needed to run home.
