We have never second guessed our decision. Our daughter has attended Fort Bend Christian Academy since kindergarten and is now in 6th grade. As a small child, our daughter was always shy and the child hiding behind one of us. However, from the moment she walked into FBCA it felt like home to her. As we left the open house and as a 5 year old, she begged to attend FBCA. To this day, she looks forward to going to school everyday. The teachers, administrations, and staff are amazing! We are truly a family. We laugh, cry, and truly carry each other's burdens. My daughter's teachers have not only been her teachers but have become some of my dearest friends. My daughter, who deals with sensory issues that affect her learning, has always been treated with the utmost respect and has been encouraged to embrace new ideas while being challenged by proven methods of teaching that instill an understanding of the world around her while teaching her to effectively communicate those ideas. I am not an alumni and I was only aware of the school through long time friends. But, having faced the challenges of the current public school system with our oldest child, my wife and I came to believe that a private school was our only acceptable option for our youngest child (and any future children). We explored several private schools in Houston and decided on St. Thomas' based on a tour of the school and talking with faculty and others who knew of or had experienced the school. Also, I believe that the tuition is quite reasonable compared with other private schools in Houston that we considered. We intend to keep our 8 year old at St. Thomas' through 12th grade and we plan to send our 3 year old there as well when she reaches school age. I would also encourage any parents considering a private school education to meet with Mr. Cusack and the faculty and see it for yourself. I believe that you will like what you see.

The teachers are awesome and the administration is very helpful. They also have a Scottish Arts program which is excellent. The band is full of bagpipers and drums. There is also a Scottish dance program which has produced many U.S. champions. If you are around the Meyerland plaza area around 4pm you will hear the bagpipers practicing.

I had colleges in mind for my son but I needed a third party who is familiar with the process and have resources to elevate him as a strong candidate. I also needed someone to coach him so that I end up not being a "nag" essentially. I felt confident after interviewing and researching several college application counseling services that Ivy Scholars was the one. What I liked about Ivy Scholars was their bespoke approach to coaching the candidate. It was one on one which I truly loved - Not some group in a conference room discussing your child and giving vague ideas of how to build your candidacy. I felt Ivy Scholars focused on the individual candidate. Meeting with Sasha was great, instant confidence. I reviewed his team and they were all very professional and very qualified. It offered candidacy building, test prep, and essay and application help. Everything I was looking for. I had a lot of trepidation about spending money (it is expensive, they all are) on college applications but I felt it would help my son. I needed help as a parent. Well, it was well worth it. Actually I would say Ivy Scholars helped my son beyond what I expected. Daniel Schriever was my son's weekly coach and counselor. He was patient, thoughtful, and really talented. He took the time to learn my son's personality - strengths and weaknesses. My son was not the most organized - typical teenage boy. He worked with him and learned of his passions and interests and helped him get an internship that he loved. It fit right in with his interests. He helped him connect with a research mentor (Dr Len) and he was able to submit his research for publication. As for the college application process, well, my son, out of the blue, wanted to apply to the service academies. That is a whole another beast of a process. Daniel helped with 16 college applications and three service academy applications. The essays, the college app, coached him on military panel interviews as well as congressional nomination interviews. So now we have a problem - a good problem to have, we never expected. He got accepted to UT Austin early action as an out of state applicant. They had 140,000 applicants this year - 95% deferred, and only 10% is out of state. He is a national Air Force ROTC Scholarship recipient as well as Army ROTC Scholarship recipient. He received an appointment to the United States Military Academy (West Point) with three Congressional nominations. Their curriculum is play and project based, inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. They have Spanish class, as well as optional gymnastics and soccer classes. They are very safe and cautious in terms of COVID pandemic rules -- and when the case load gets better for a prolonged time, then they reassess. One of the things my family has most appreciated is their COVID policy. All teachers wear masks, and all kids above a certain age (3ish) wear masks as well -- aside from when eating & optionally when playing outside. They have chickens outside, a flower and vegetable garden, and rabbits and 2 aquariums inside. Right now, some of the classes are raising caterpillars into moths and butterflies, and they have just harvested some of the chicken eggs and will get to incubate them and watch them hatch! Such great experiences for kids of all ages to have. They provide gourmet lunches made in-house from fresh ingredients, many of which are organic. On Friday afternoons, you can also buy some of their house-made goodies -- they have an assortment of baked goods, desserts, soups, and savory/main dishes. If you are late on Fridays, they may sell out of certain items.

Since then, this educational institution has been instrumental in nurturing my son's personal and academic growth. Initially, I held reservations about enrolling my son in a private school, primarily concerning tuition expenses and daily commuting logistics. My journey started with a profound understanding of the concept of Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), which mandates that schools provide tailored special education to address each child's specific needs. It became increasingly clear, after years of struggling with my son's elementary school, starting from kindergarten, that they were falling short in upholding this fundamental right. Our discovery of Launch Academy came through a trusted colleague whose son had graduated from Launch the previous year and a freshman in college. She had wrestled with her child's education for years, transitioning him from the public system to multiple private schools. She confided that she had begun to doubt her son's chances of ever graduating from high school until she turned to Launch Academy as a last-ditch effort for his future, which remarkably proved to be successful. After hearing her story I was still a bit skeptical, but we decided to visit and tour the school with my son. Meeting with the head of the school, Mr. Richard Kelly, was a life-changing experience. Mr. Kelly, a remarkable individual, effortlessly engaged with my shy, introverted son, and within a mere 10 minutes, my son eagerly joined a class without any hesitation. My son has developed a strong foundation in various subjects and has shown remarkable progress since joining Launch.
