Currently attending puppy classes and couldn't ask for anything more. Knowledge staff that provides advice based on your dog, not cookie-cutter answers to questions. They take the time to see the puppy in action and then make recommendations. Reasonably priced. We plan on continuing with additional courses here. Highly recommended. read more

Cant say enough about our first experience here! The trainers are incredibly patient with both puppies and owners! I love the large space for the dogs to learn and work in - (no distractions from shoppers/outside people like their competitors). My lab would not do well in a small store setting. They do sell some supplies in the entryway if you run out of treats (trust me....puppies go through more than I thought) or collars and other supplies. There are at least 2 trainers working with owners and dogs. Wonderful ratio. Their prices are well worth it for the small ratio alone. I appreciate the instruction and the interior of facility---but the parking lot situation is just not good for dogs, lacks grassy area to take them potty, and, unless you live very close by, it is hard to get to this location for any evening activities due to Rush Hour. read more

I fell in love with TCOTC from the very beginning. I started my puppy in socialization classes that also introduced obedience lessons. We moved on to a puppy prodigy class and a puppy agility class. I really love that TCOTC has so many options for continued learning. On the Obedience side you can take general and competition classes. While in class you may find your pup needing more help in a certain area - like loose leash walking or impulse control. TCOTC then offers more classes that will help you in those specific areas. I found folks to be knowledgeable and positive. It is a place where both my dog and I can grow and develop friendships. It is a true community. Since I adopted my German Shepherd and started training at TCOTC I have signed up to volunteer at the front desk, I am now an assistant instructor, I am an alternate on the Board and I volunteer at other events held at the club. TCOTC may very well be a great place for people who are current members and know how things work at the organization, but I found the experience of getting information about becoming a member and signing up for classes to be a bit excruciating. I'm exaggerating, but not by much. First I received conflicting information about pre-requisite requirements for a class. One person told me my puppy would need to have an evaluation (which only happens once a month), and another said no way was that necessary. I also received pricing information that conflicted with what was listed on the website. And then there were the waitlists.. Every puppy class I was interested in had a waitlist. Thinking about getting a puppy next year? Get that not-yet-existent pup on the waitlist now! Again I'm exaggerating, but not by much. There's also no set schedule for these classes listed anywhere -- they apparently just add new sessions whenever they feel like it. After a while of being on a waitlist for one of these classes, I was notified there were some openings in an upcoming session, which was starting the following week. I had a few questions to ask before registering, so I tried calling but got their voicemail every time. So I figured maybe email would be better. After all, that's the way they contacted me about the waitlist to begin with, right? Well, it took nearly a week to receive a response, which was sent near the end of the day of the deadline to sign up. Ultimately, the vibe I got just wasn't very welcoming. It's a shame, as I've read lots of positive reviews and like the idea of getting involved with a volunteer-run training organization. read more

We've taken our rescue pup here for about a year now. He started in Level 1, and now he's done Level 3 several times (because he likes it - he could move on to more advanced things now if we wanted). The teachers here are so knowledgeable, and focus on positive training techniques. When we first brought our dog to TCOTC, he was basically a wild animal and was SO naughty we didn't know what to do. Now he listens well and people comment on his nice manners (and cute tricks) all the time. They recommend using the gentle leader, which has been great for our dog. A few more pros: -The most affordable training place we found in the metro. -Because it's a non-profit, the trainers and other club members are very invested in the success of both the club and all the dogs who come there. -They have a variety of classes and seminars. I've heard they're the only place in the area that offers tracking classes. -Our dog has unusual legs that kind of limit his ability to do some tricks/activities - the instructors have been great about recognizing this, but also making sure he's challenged. -Class times are generally in the evening and there are multiple day/time options for each level, so it's super convenient. One small con (and it's not really even a con): -Many of the dogs that attend TCOTC are purebred/purchased from a breeder. I'd personally love to see more rescues and mixed-breed dogs there - from what I've heard, this is something they're working on. They definitely welcomed our pup regardless of his breed. read more

So we finished puppy kindergarten and are moving on to level 1 classes. The teacher, Nancy, was really nice and fun. I know Ajax really enjoyed playing with the other dogs. We will be back for the level 1 classes next week. I have a feeling we will continue with the classes all the way to the end too. After all, the prices are reasonable, the classes are fun, and the dog loves it! read more

I have been going to TCOTC for about four years. Their instructors are professional and knowledgeable about dogs and how to train them. They use a "positive" approach to training dogs, one that worked extremely well with my two boys. I started with puppy training, then went to obedience for three session. I tried flyball, but that didn't work for one of my dogs so I went with agility and I am now hooked. I have been training agility for about three years. One thing I appreciate is that I have had the same instructors and trained with mostly the same people so there is a lot of consistency. I would recommend TCOTC to anyone, whether they just want to enjoy and relax with their best friend, meet new people, socialize, or enter competitions, TCOTC has a niche that is right for any dog owner. Now to brag...my two miniature poodles have gone from nto knowing anything about agility to winning two titles at an AKC trail held there this past weekend. It was so much fun and both me and my dogs had a real sense of accomplishment. read more

We were looking for a organized and trust worthy training club. This is the second training experience we've had and by far the worst one. We went to orientation, and the first class. Our pup is a bit bigger than the other pups, and we were the first to arrive. My dog sat calmly and as other dogs entered the ring she got a little restless and proceeded to bark and try to play with all the new dogs entering the arena. We bought treat bags here and started using a clicker as per asked by the instructor. While exiting, her assistant created a "path way" out by asking OTHER GUESTS to move out of the way so our puppy would stay calm. I felt singled out, I felt like we didn't do a good job ON DAY ONE. By the next class we received a VOICE MAIL from a lady. "We saw some signs that your dog is fearful. We will not be expecting you at the next class. I gave you a full refund, and a list of PERSONAL TRAINERS. I'm so sorry and have a good day." The whole organization gave up my dog, basically called us bad owners and didn't even give us the chance to work with our dog. I felt humiliated, I was offended, and most of all so sad that my sweet angel that wanted to run and play with her friends in the room, was branded as a bad dog before we even got started. She is the sweetest angel with 2x the energy. We came here expecting to get help and left feeling worse than when we came. If you have a big puppy don't go here. They will tell their supervisor your dog is scary and you shouldn't come back. Bully breeds are told they are welcomed here, and that they can help fix problems with dogs. Instead they will look at a hyper and fearful dog, (mind you we told them all of this at orientation and in paperwork) and they will turn you away no conversation or anything. Very sad that a kennel associated training club is so harsh. read more

My wife and I stopped in with our new puppy fulling intending on becoming members, and signing up for puppy classes, and puppy agility. Later getting into more advanced classes, Flyball, possibly even therapy work for a long term relationship with this outfit. I can honestly say I've never felt more unwelcome walking into a place with a new puppy. The lady at reception was rude, and very unhelpful. We went in looking in for information about the place beyond what's on the website. After asking about the signing in up for puppy agility, the lady comes back with belittling remarks. Trying to explain to this unhelpful individual this is our very fist time here trying to get a better feel of what they are about. She finally says we can look around and to go into a room where we can look through windows to see the agility course only to get snapped at by another trainer saying we can't be there. At this point we had a very good feel for the nature of this training facility. The volunteers and trainers are in need of more training in dealing with prospective new members!! When my wife's clients in the vet industry ask about potential places to take there pets for training, they will not be on the top of that list. read more

I cannot say enough good things about TCOTC! It is a positive behavioral-based approach to dog training that is wonderful. They don't make empty promises about being a dog whisperer or "fixing" your dog. Instead, they teach YOU how to communicate with your dog. You really get out of it what you put into it. I brought my rescue dog to basic obedience in order to help increase her confidence around other dogs and we loved it so much, we decided to keep going in the program. TCOTC is also very affordable and a non-profit. It is so nice to see people interested in really training dogs and not just making a buck. If you go, you will not be disappointed! read more
