Wow! We dropped off an out of control 8 month old German Shepherd and picked up a different dog! The staff at Neuman's K-9 are all in - amazing trainers - they even trained us! Highly recommend!! Totally worth the money - I can walk him without having the leash wrapped around my hand struggling to keep up while being pulled and embarrassed by his behavior around other animals!

If I could give Neuman K-9 Academy more than 5 stars I would! We took our puppy - Murphy to Neuman K-9 Academy for boot camp. He was 6 months old at the time and was enrolled in the 60-day program. I wanted to share my experience and hope it helps someone else as much as it has me. I've wanted an English Goldendoodle for quite a while and was excited when we brought Murphy home. We haven't had a puppy for + 8 years and our other dogs were both less than 10 lbs. Prior to his training, it was getting harder to control him and his energy level. He was forming bad behaviors such as counter-surfing (often), eating socks - to the point we thought he may have to have surgery because he swallowed an adult size sock that wasn't moving through his system, jumping on people, barking, pulling on the leash for walks, eating feces. You get the picture. I was losing control of his behavior and I was desperate because my elderly father was in and out of the hospital at this time and I didn't have the time to devote to daily consistent training. I was spending money on doggy daycare to keep Murphy occupied and exercised. Then I received an email advising Murphy could not come back to doggy daycare until he went through training because he had toy aggression. I knew he was a smart dog so started to research different dog trainers. I came upon Neuman's K-9 Academy and read the reviews which were very insightful. I contacted them, spoke to Josiah who informed me of their program and found out they were starting a new 60-day boot camp in less than 2 weeks. I was able to get Murphy enrolled and off he went to boot camp. While he was gone, I realized how peaceful our home was and how much energy I was spending on keeping him out of mischief and/or trouble, but I wasn't giving him any solid training. I was exhausted! After 60 days of boot camp, Murphy is home. I cannot express how thankful I am to Josiah and his whole team of trainers! Murphy is a changed dog! He walks and heels next to me with NO leash pulling! He's not counter surfing! He listens to me when I give him a command. I am Murphy's main handler in our home and my life is calmer and much more organized and consistent now since I'm not constantly trying to get him to stop bad behaviors. I have learned invaluable information that I will continue using from Josiah and his team. if you are considering training for your dog and want lasting results, I would highly recommend Neuman K-9 Academy. How old does the puppy need to be before sending them for training? Do you also have early puppy training classes to help us prepare to be a great dog parent and to give our puppy a solid start? Thank you for any help and insights!

To start puppy camp, a puppy must be 16 weeks old. We do not offer classes; our focus is on in-board training, where the dogs stay at our Academy for the duration of the training process (4, 8, or 12-weeks).

I have a 5 year old mixed breed dog, who is very quick to learn new tricks, has been to multiple training classes with several different instructors and I hesitated a little bit at the basic training because I thought she knew it all. Boy was I wrong. Working on basic commands in a different way was very eye opening for me, and we have changed some of our routines based on what I learned in this class. My dog has trouble at the door when people enter our house, so we are working on that, and the simple sit or down stay is really important for her. If she can master a long down stay, then we can test her with people at the door. It isn't something I even thought of. The importance of her looking at me when I call her name is another thing that I had not worked on, but we do that now every time I take her for a walk. If she should get away from me, and has mastered that then I know she will look at me when I call her name. My expectations of this class were exceeded, and I am very happy that I attended. I look forward to attending additional classes in the future, and learning more about the behavior of my dog and the other dogs in the class. Watching them interact and having Justin explain what's really going on in their dog brains was enlightening. His training style is non-judgmental and takes into consideration what you want for you and your dog, which is refreshing having been to many different training programs who think their way is the only way.

I get a phone call saying my dog has a small cut on her head and that everything's fine. I go pick her up and find a large laceration on her head and once I got home I found a puncture wound on her side that my vet confirmed went down to the muscle tissue. The Dogtopia manager told me that she did not clean the wounds she used a non-antibacterial non-scented baby wipe and applied ointment. This is going to trap bacteria in and a wound this deep can easily get infected especially in an environment with lots of dogs. Their staff "doesn't know what happened". They will not share any of the surveillance footage. They only offered to pay the vet bill once I threatened to take legal action if they didn't. I have worked at dog daycare's prior and we had never sent a dog home with injuries like that and no idea how they happened and no explanation. They tried to tell me that she hit her head at first and it was a small cut and upon inspecting her it is a large laceration all the way through the skin and I discovered the puncture wound because she was licking it once she got home and that goes down to the muscle. It blows my mind that they downplay it so much and will not share their surveillance video. They are clearly not watching them/keeping rooms under control. I would never feel comfortable allowing them to watch my dog ever again, they are not taking safety as a priority. If you're understaffed you need to stop taking in dogs at a certain point so that staff members can actually maintain a supervised and controlled environment. My vet said either staples or stitches so I went with staples because they are a little over $300 versus $900 for stitches. It took me threatening my legal team reaching out to them for them to even refund the cost of a half-day charge when she was there for two hours before I picked her up because of injury. I had to push even more to get them to pay the vet bill eventually. The only reason I had my dog there is because I was hit by an SUV and was physically unable to take my dog to burn energy as she is just over one year old. So now not only am I trying to heal my broken wrist and fractured knee, but I am also tending to the staples on her head and her ribs, antibiotics, pain medication, and anxiety medication. My dog is so playful and sweet, absolutely loves people and absolutely loves other dogs. It's going to absolutely crush me if I see her confidence or friendliness extinguished in any way from this experience. Update in regards to their reply: they have my email address have not sent me any solid explanation as to what happened still. I have so many doctors appointments, phone calls with my lawyer, and I am trying to rest ice and elevate myself and now take care of my dog on top of all that. I don't have the time to sit on the phone with you while you tell me that you don't have an explanation, in different words nine times over. Reply to my email when you figure it out and if you can't figure out what happened, shame on you. You shouldn't be running a dog care business.
