I always wanted to fire a hand gun. It was something I wanted to try for a long time so I finally located a shooting range nearby. When you pull up the building looks small. I thought "how can you shoot in such a tiny building?" When you walk in you see it goes straight down to a bigger area and then it makes scenes. You also see that there are to guess there, with personalities bigger then life. I understand how you can think that the owner, Charle, could come off as harsh. He's actually a really cool guy. I went and explained to him that I wanted to shoot and he asked for my gun permit. I told him I didn't have one and he replied I needed one to fire a hand gun. Charle then took the time to explain what steps I need to obtain a permit and what the questions are like. He even gave me a time frame about how long that will take. He allowed my to hold a rifle while I posed for my "Walking dead" closeup and I was on my way. I will get my permit. It will be exciting to shoot a hand gun. Also if zombies do start to roam the Earth I will increase my rate of survival with this necessary training. read more

Just got my license and wanted to learn Came to executive gun shop and paid $200 for 3 hours training First he can 20 min late Then put me and another guy in a room And talked as he ate his dinner almost an hour Then gave booklet to read and that was another hour of bullshit The last hour he took us into the firing range Snd showed us how to shoot But the guns were all jamming He said as I quote him These guns are so old I need to get rid of them So why give people that is paying good money Old guns Believe me I learned nothing It was a waist of time and money He said he was sissy that he would give us another hour or so lesson the following week I kept calling him with no results never got back to me It's a shame I'd find a new place read more

I am a police officer and an avid shooter. There seems to be a trend among gun stores/ranges on Long Island that entails having them stocked with rude, uncaring, un-educated, and cocky employees. Executive is by far the worst. There is an older man working downstairs, with grey hair and a grey beard. I went in one time, (there was no one else in the shop, and only 1 other person shooting in the range) and I was literally yelled at and treated like a child. Keep in mind, all I did was walk through the door, say hello and say that I wanted to get some range-time in. His response was "yeah, well we'll see about that, what are you shooting" in a very nasty and loud tone. I told him I was shooting 9mm and .380. He gave me nasty looks and when I asked him if he was having a bad day, he jumped off his stool and leaned over the counter with his face literally 2 or 3 inches from mine. He asked me "what are you gonna do, huh?" I gathered my stuff and left without further incident. I have since learned that this guy is buddies with an adminstrator from the Suffolk County Police Dept, and that he feels he can belittle anyone he wants to. I have also learned that I am not the first person to have experienced this nut. Avoid Executive at all costs. They're rude, the facilities are horrid, and the prices are high. Only good thing about them is that they are relatively close to home. I will never step foot in there again, and would glady travel further to shoot. read more

Went to this range for the first time last month and had a really enjoyable time. The person behind the counter (had a gray beard!!) was very courteous and helpful, even handing me a pair of earmuffs (no charge-which I forgot to bring along). Range price was very reasonable. He politely answered my questions and did not attempt to sell me any materials for my range time. The range was staffed by another really nice person named Anthony, who is the range attendant. He showed me my booth and gave me some cardboard to put my targets on. The return mechanism wasn't working steadily and he eagerly came over to fix it several times, even though I thought it might be annoying for him to do. When I started to clean up my shell casings, he came over and said not to worry, that he would take care of it. Nice as they come! Back in the gun store, I took some time to look at what they had and was interested in a nice .22 rifle and the staffer was very helpful and showed me the gun and one other. He and I talked a bit and I thanked him and left. I will probably buy it soon. All in all, after reading the above bad reviews, I don't feel this is the norm as I've been to several other gun stores and had pleasant experiences...maybe they've wisely realized that kind of attitude doesn't help their business?! Benson's, who is the owner of this store is also a great place to shop and buy guns. They even had a nice Stoeger Air Rifle I had been thinking about buying and I did after they showed it to me. My son-in-law also uses this range and likes it very much. We are planning to go more together. Since the other review was made in 2009, I'm glad I took the time to check it out myself and hope this review helps anyone who was put off by the other reviews from five plus years ago. read more
