Nick went above and beyond for us. He was diligent and persistent in communicating with Suzuki on our behalf, even when the process dragged on for several months. His patience, expertise, and determination ultimately paid off: he was able to coordinate a full replacement of the engine, which had been deemed unrepairable. What a glorious experience. It was the first time of deep sea fishing for two of us. We not only caught tons of fish but got wonderful lessons from Eric as to how to do it right. He is a great teacher, always watching and correcting you so that you don't develop bad habits, but doing so with a ready smile. He is also very ethical and would only let us keep porgies (11 inches +) and sea bass (16.5 inches +) that meet regulation. Our end of the day haul was 30 large sized fish which was way beyond expectation. Most importantly we had 6 hours of pure fun. Also, his boat is extremely clean and well kept. If you ever want to go deep sea fishing, look no further and just call Eric / Captain Fish! I have already recommended him to all my friends who are chomping at the bit to go. They are, I bet a little envious as well - wondering how a novice like me could so much fish. All credit goes to Eric!

I usually wait 2 days for a box to arrive. But today, in the mood to go fishing and low on supplies, I remembered there was a bait and tackle place across from the pink pig in Miller Place. So off we went, not expecting much but pleasantly surprised. Walking through the front door, you could see that this store has a little bit of everything. Upon entering, we were greeted by a very friendly woman, I'm pretty sure she was the owner, who happily helped us navigate the store and after asking a few questions regarding what we were looking to catch and where we planned on fishing she picked out her suggestions and then gave us some space to shop without feeling pressured. She even checked the back for a lure that she said had been performing really well lately that seemed to be sold out on the sales floor. She found it and we bought it, along with several other items that we tried out down on the beach this evening. We will definitely be returning. It felt nice to support a local small business and I enjoyed hanging out in the store. There's a great vibe going on. They have pictures bordering the ceiling of locals with their catch. They said people come in after they've gone fishing to show them what they caught and have it weighed. That sounds like FUN. Maybe I'll do that, if I ever catch something BIG. Although, we usually fish more for sport and throw it back when we are done:) I'm loving this mom and pop!

I had a very disappointing experience with Laura Lee Charter on Saturday, July 11, 2026. The…read morebiggest issue was that we were misled about where we would be fishing. Instead of fishing in the advertised area, we spent nearly two hours traveling out into the open ocean. The conditions were extremely rough, and the boat rocked so much that many passengers became seasick. At certain points, the rocking was so severe that people couldn't safely walk around the boat, and several passengers were unable to fish at all because of the conditions. After the long ride, the first fishing spot was a complete waste of time. No one was catching fish because the rough seas caused everyone's lines to drift into each other, resulting in constant tangles instead of fishing. Eventually, the captain moved to another location, but by then a large portion of the trip had already been spent traveling. To make matters worse, fishing ended around 11:15 p.m., even though the trip was supposed to end at 12:00 am. We didn't get back to the dock until about 1:30 am., meaning we spent far more time traveling than actually fishing. Many passengers complained that the amount of fishing time didn't come close to justifying the long ride offshore. Overall, the trip was misleading, poorly managed, and not worth the money. The overall experience left many passengers disappointed, and it was obvious from the conversations on board that we weren't the only ones who felt the trip fell well short of expectations. A fishing charter should prioritize giving customers time to fish, not spending hours traveling into rough open water where many people couldn't even participate. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Laura Lee Charter.

We went on a very impromptu paddleboarding run on a Saturday. They sell some incidentals at the shop, but didn't try to upsell. We were instructed to pick up the life jacket, but they brought the paddleboard over to the dock across the street. There was no demonstration, but it was easy enough to figure out that I started backwards on my board and the family was nice enough not to say anything about it (lol). We did a very short ride, an hour out in the water. The paddleboard and the paddle seemed well-maintained (not that I am an expert). The course they suggested was perfect as it gave us some time in the water. Because it was the height of the day, it was not very crowded out in the water, though I could see larger groups starting their rides by the time we came back to shore. It was a surprisingly pleasant experienced and I love that it's a family business. I would visit the Peconic Paddler again.

They helped us decide what would work best for our group. They gave us all life preservers and had us in the water and going within 5 min of arrival. Easy Peezy. You can go as long as you want or just do a quick float about. We did about a 2 mile trip, (took about 3 hours)we arrived at a small waterfall and the kids got to get out and play about a little. They loved it, don't forget your water shoes and your bathing suit. You cant really swim but you will get somewhat wet. Pack a lunch or go to the end where there is a spot to get out and grab and taco or some ice cream. Maybe both. The trip back went a little faster as you are going back with the current. If you are always wondering what to do with the kids ( of any age ) I highly recommend you try this place.

(The crew made all the difference) The boat is beautiful, clean, fully accommodating with stocked bathrooms (had sinks and soap!). The crew provided everything we needed, plus educated us and helped us every step of the way. We caught a ton of fish, which they offered to either descale or filet for us (and they did a wonderful, quick job of that). The highlight was the crew. Ilya and Matt were super accommodating from educating us and giving us tips on how to catch and reel the fish in, to placing bait on our hooks and unhooking each fish that my family of five caught (all while helping others as well). The captain even danced with my daughter (5 yrs old with special needs) when she came inside the cabin and was starting to get tired of being out by the side fishing. These men were such hard-working, honest gentlemen- it sealed the deal for us to plan our next trip with Osprey and every fishing charter in the future will be with them! (I'll add that our boat was not packed in without room to move like other charters, and we had many other people on our charter that were long-time fisherman that have chosen Osprey for years. That says a lot). If you're looking for a fishing charter in this area and you're either first-timers or have fishing experience- look no further.
