And I'm writing this in my new city, looking for a barber that can succeed Tony, because honestly there's nothing that can replace him. The great thing about EMG is that once you find your barber, they can become everything you'd want your barber to be - in my case, Tony didn't just offer a great haircut. Been here once or twice in the past barbers have been fine and I said I wasn't going to leave a review but this last time was terrible probably the worst haircut I've ever had in my life. I'm just not going to name the person who cut me, but I'll just say he's native American and he totally fucked my hair up. It's been about two weeks but every time I keep looking at my hair in the mirror, it's all fucked up. Well, I had an appointment at 11:30 and I went there at 11:10. So about 20 minutes early. There was someone else who was waiting and he had an appointment at 11. He asked me that he is cutting late and it might take 11:45 for me to get a haircut. I mentioned it to him that I m not sure as I had other appointments later. Then someone else came in and he had an appointment at 11:40. This made me wonder, will he be able to cut my hair in 10 minutes or is this bad practice to make everyone wait. I believe he took the 11 am appointment at 11:20. I waited till 11:50 and told him I had to leave due to other appointments. Once in a while you may be late due to unavoidable circumstances, but deliberately making customers wait is not a good practice as everyone s time is important. read more

Been growing my beard out for about a year now, decided it was time for a professional shape up. What an absolute mistake going to this place was. Joe the "owner" is who I got to destroy the last year of beard growth taking all my length get this though on one side one my face ! I have 2inches on one side an inch on the other. I've been to this location 3 times now. To be fair, the only reason I started going was because they hired my barber that I've been going to for 8+ years and I would follow him anywhere! If he's happy and was willing to move to this shop, then I know they treat their employees well. Aside from that, I am happy with the new spot. It's very spacious so you don't feel awkward sitting while you wait. You're not too close to anyone else whether thats in the waiting area or at a station. The vibe is trendy and masculine. EMGs first location is closer to me in Gilbert but even a 30 min drive cant stop me from getting a cut by Tony if he's not at the Gilbert location. Don't be fooled and think oh it's a chain shop. And I recieved a haircut that resulted my entire side of my head faded bald, no blend, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]all I got when I told him that's not what I wanted was, "this is what the kids are getting these days".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had to pay 35 dollars just to go to another shop and get the fade blended in, the back of the hair cut, and to save it by getting a completely new hairstyle. I like that this place is very customer service oriented. After a haircut that wasn't up To par for one of my sons, the owner personally reached out to me as did Ian, the Manager for the Ahwahtukee location. I went back and Ian left my kids hair perfect which was great because my kids had a recital for their theater classes the following day and were nervous about looking good for it. Ian also did my other kids hair and he nailed the picture my kid gave him for reference. He's very meticulous with a strong attention to detail which gave for the perfect lineup my kids wanted. I would strongly recommend asking for Ian, especially for African American hair as that's not an easy task. Also, make an appointment cause this place stays booked and with good reason. read more

Hit or miss on barbers. I had to go home and cut all my hair because of how horrible my haircut was. I still paid and tipped. I would not recommend this place unless you know which barber is good. I do not recommend this place, first of all they are expensive for a barber shop. And second of all do not get the girl. I told her I wanted to keep the length of my beard and just line it up and she practically cut my whole beard off! And made it really really uneven on my cheeks and my neck. And I asked for a medium skin fade and didn't even get a skin fade, and both side are uneven and the back of my head one side is cut higher than the other. I highly do not recommend this place. I've been here twice now, the first time I had Tony and he gave a really good cut, he is also very friendly and talkative which I enjoy. I would give a 5 star review however the 2nd time I went I had someone else, and it wasn't as good of an experience. The fade wasn't really a fade, I asked for it up to the line and they didn't go up to it, they also didn't buzz the line like I asked so now my hair is just growing over the line, and then I asked for it trimmed on the top and they went REALLY short. Normally they'll ask if the length is the right amount their about to take off before they cut it, but they just started before I could say anything and now it's way shorter then I wanted it. I'll still come back, just when a different barber is there. I'm not a expert on hair, but I've had more skilled barbers in the past so it's disappointing when you get below average quality. read more

Inside the shop fits the barbershop vibe but also sets the tone for the quality of cut you receive. My fade I received is no doubt the best cut I've had in a very long time.
