Our agent set up a tour of the facility, during which Ryland showed us the respite room that was available. The next morning we elected to reserve the room and our agent sent in all paperwork and his patient chart. However, upon learning that my father had a history of mental illness, Ryland called and asked me a million questions and asked if he could meet him, to which I agreed. Multiple hours passed then Ryland sent a sheepish email to my agent saying that a resident's family had coincidently reserved the respite room while he was supposed to be meeting my dad but was "held-up". Does he really think I'm that stupid? Given the highly unlikely chance this was true, I asked if he could get him into an apartment, to which he replied "no". He explained that family has first priority, even though we were waiting on him to finalize the deal. I then emailed Carrie, the executive director, asking for clarification. She perpetuated the same implausible story of how the room was reserved. I then emailed her back, asking what options they had for apartments. If this story was true, wouldn't they take some accountability and try to work out a solution? No response to multiple emails. Just tell me the real reason why you won't accept him. Shame on you both!

Arbor View has made me feel so welcome every time I've come to visit and to see the rosiness back in my grandma's cheeks means a lot. The fact that they keep me posted on any changes that might be happening with her and also meeting her personal needs means a lot. I am grateful she has eyes and care on her like that. She has often mentioned the staff being so kind to her and also enjoying the birds in the front lounge area. She has been participating in games, movies, and Sunday service. Favorite response whenever a concern is brought up is " I'll look into it and get back with you"......from all people Ive talked to both in the industry and that have had loved ones in a facility, this is common place. Our family can't imagine our eighty-nine year old mother being anywhere other than The Oberon…read more She's been happy (even during the Covid lockdown!) and well taken care of for the four and a half years she's lived there. We believe the main reason The Oberon is so wonderful is that it is privately owned and the owners are on-site most days. They are very accessible and really care. The remodeled estate on the hill truly feels like home and not a made-up corporate cookie-cutter business. The turnover of staff members seems to be much lower than at other assisted living facilities, so consistency of care is well maintained. The staff and residents are all treated with respect. Our mother loves the food and the gardening and the activities are awesome! We are grateful.
