Wait was about a two hours just for the doctor to take a 1 min look. I was prescribed antibiotics when she should've drained me and then was asked no follow up questions. When I was explaining my situation to the nurse she looked disgusted (yes it was gross but control your facial expressions when you're with patients). As I was leaving I wanted to ask a question about billing and the nurse was like "what are you waiting for, we bill your card on file" and I said "that's exactly why I'm waiting I want you bill my insurance" and she said there's nothing they can do that I have to wait for the bill to come out. So sure enough I wait for the bill, they charged my insurance AND the card they make you put on file (my insurance covered the entire bill, I shouldn't have been charged). Getting a hold of someone to talk to is a nightmare, my card was charged and now I have to fight with when them for a refund. They seem more money hungry than willing to help. The only convenient thing is that it's so close to home, but I'd rather travel farther for a little more professional patient care. read more

This review applies specifically to the Thousand Oaks location. My son accidentally scheduled his sports physical here instead of our usual location. Because we were up against a deadline, we went ahead with the appointment. We've had consistently positive experiences at other locations, so I'm hoping this may have been an off day - but our experience at this site was concerning from start to finish. The sports physical itself was not performed to the standard we've seen elsewhere. Rather than taking a few minutes to record basic measurements, staff simply asked my son for his height and weight. The physician did listen to his heart, which is important, but no other elements typically included in a sports physical were completed (balance checks, strength/resistance tests, etc.). Despite the limited evaluation, the form was signed off. We then encountered significant issues with the front office. They did not bill our insurance - even though we are in-network with Blue Shield - and attempted to charge us $180 with no explanation. When we called to clarify the charge, the front desk immediately said, "You owe us $180, please hold," before we were able to say a word. The interaction felt dismissive and unprofessional. Based on this experience, I would recommend checking other locations first, as those have consistently provided far better service. I hope this particular site can address these issues so future visits align with the quality we've experienced elsewhere. read more

Thankful they got me in quickly as a walk in but this place is exceptionally dirty, especially for a medical clinic. Paint peeling off the walls, disgusting bathroom, hair and dust on the floor, no where to put urine samples so you just have to walk out with it in your hand. The nurse who drew my blood was super nice, but the girls at the front desk had a pretty unhelpful and bad attitude and just sitting on their phones watching TikTok. They also have a sign on the door that said "if it's past 6 pm call this number for entry" which takes you to a useless AI help bot that just keeps insisting the clinic is open until 8 and that you should be able to walk right in. I visited the facility around 7pm last night and Erica Everett, PA had wonderful bedside banner,. She was caring and efficient. The antibiotic that I purchased in house and the steroid given to me in the clinic worked very well. I was very happy with my overall visit from checking in to discharge. Brought my kid to Exer for flu-like symptoms because it's usually easy. Been to several of them: Tarzana, Calabasas, etc. Always a simple sign-in process and we're seen within a reasonable amount of time. Not this time, not at this location. We walk in, there's an empty waiting room, we're told to sign in on an ipad by the counter. The front desk person doesn't look at us, just says, "Sign in". I do, the iPad sends me a text to fill out paperwork before the appointment. Ok, fine, we go sit down and I click it. It's a 14 step process to register. Insane, but I start. I get to the part about insurance and I don't have my info handy so I have to look it up. No signal. Can't log into their free wifi. I can't get my insurance info. I walk up to the desk, lady's on the phone. I wait. When she finishes her call I say, "We've been to Exer many times, been coming for years. Can you just look us up to get our records?" "No." "No? You can't or you won't?" "You have to fill out the form every time you come in." She gets a phone call. Ignores me, picks it up. Talks. I wait. I think about our other Exer experiences. Always easy, I remember signing a little desktop pad to give them permission to treat and some HIPPA stuff, but other than that I have never been asked to fill out 14 pages of anything. I'm still waiting, but really I'm waiting to talk to someone else because it's obvious this person won't help. But there is NO ONE ELSE THERE. She eventually hangs up. "Every time I come in it's like I'm a new patient? Exer doesn't keep patient records? Really?" "You have to fill it out every time you come in." Total disinterest. No willingness to help or explain further. Not what you need at a health care facility. How about a little effort? Or empathy for a sick kid? Do they not teach that at front desk lady school? "We're out of here." We went to a competing urgent care place a couple miles away with and was in and out in no time, like it should be. Exer lost a family/revenue source. read more

I took my daughter here yesterday for a broken toe (we thought it was dislocated and might need resetting, but it was broken). There was no one else waiting in the waiting room so she went right in after filling out the paperwork. The nurse took xrays and we waited less than five minutes for the results. The doctor, who introduced herself as Michelle, was very kind and attentive. The assistant who wrapped her toe was gentle and caring and provided my daughter with plenty of aftercare supplies to take home. We were in and out in an hour, maybe less. My only complaint is that we have to complete the paperwork every time we go to Exer as though we are new patients even though we've been there many times before. It's like nothing is saved in their computer system. Other than that, our experience at this branch of Exer was very positive. We appreciated the friendly staff. read more

Took my son here with high fever and cough. Doctor barely looked at him. They did a nose swab sample and said would send it to the lab and results would be in the next day or two days the most. Called next day, nothing. Called the following day, nothing. Then they said "oh we have a new procedure where it takes 3 - 4 days to get lab results back". In the meantime, the doctor didn't prescribe antibiotics. My son had been with fever and awful cough for 4 - 5 days now and still nothing. NEVER coming back to this place. My twins had been sick for like 5 days when one of them went and got antibiotics. She started feeling better as her twin started to feel worse 2 days later. So I took her to the Exer Urgent Care in Thousand Oaks. I was already taking them to a Dermatologist out there so decided she needed to be seen. We were told there were 6 people a head of her so we left yet 20 minutes later were told to come on back in. The girl who helped us was Tallie. She was wonderful and because they had a glitch in their system the Doctor was delayed. Tallie was wonderful, kind and caring and sensitive to our time frame so she kept us updated. Dr. Smyle Apologized for the long wait due to no fault of his own. I appreciated that. The office was very clean and cold. Cold keeps the germs away. My daughter was checked and we were finally on our way. I have to say that I've never seen a more sensitive Urgent Care ever! They treat you as though they are your personal physician and they listen to you. If I can't get into to see my Doctor or my kids Doctor then this place is the very next Best Doctor's office to go to. read more

I had a blood pressure issue important enough to send me to the urgent care no doctor on call only some form of nurse who could not give me any blood blood pressure information told me to go to ER or just wait and see In addition to that with the blood pressure issue feeling terrible while I was there and they have some kind of new system of electronics for signing in. I've been there before and I couldn't do it. It was very frustrating and the receptionist then said let me do it-she couldn't do it either so we spent 15 minutes wrestling with that thing in an already miserable condition and then told they weren't allowed to help me by law and I should wait and see or go to any ER -anyway no way to have an urgent care ridiculous! read more

While on the hunt for a new urgent care option today, Dear Hubby and I negotiated the awkward driving entrance to this clinic. You have to be heading north on Moorpark Road from either the 101 or from Thousand Oaks Blvd. to be able to enter their parking lot. There may be another way coming off Hillcrest, but I can't speak to that for certain. They are in a building located between a gas station and the plaza that CVS anchors to the south. Once we awkwardly passed it, couldn't U-turn at T.O. Blvd., and had to come around, it got even stranger. A sign on the west side door indicates that the entrance is on the other side of the building. Okay, drove around to the other side, and were confronted by a homeless encampment in Thousand Oaks. Naïve me - I didn't realize that was a thing now. With a big storm having passed yesterday, and the sun out today, the residents were out and about. EXER Urgent Care took over the former UrgentMED location. Apparently, EXER Urgent Care is spreading like a weed around the Southland. Their website shows dozens of locations throughout the main counties, from Ventura, to the O.C., L.A., SF Valley, etc. I'll probably try one someday, but the timing wasn't right for today. I didn't feel comfortable parking our car directly adjacent to the unhoused folks. Just wasn't well enough to deal with any drama that could possibly ensue. I feel uncomfortable writing this account, but when I am feeling sick and vulnerable, I prefer to experience a sense of safety versus not to have to worry if our car might be damaged while seeking care. read more

I took my father in for what appeared to be a stomach flu, and after doing thorough research, I'm confident it was the norovirus that's been going around. Unfortunately, no doctor ever shown up, only the nurse practitioner, and she didn't seem to listen to my concerns or recognize the condition. They only tested for COVID and the flu, along with additional labs that were sent out. It's been four days, and I still haven't received any follow-up about the results. Overall, I didn't feel there was a sufficient level of expertise in assessing patient's symptoms. read more

Worst experience ever! I went in with a hand injury, and the practitioner seemed afraid to give me an anesthetic shot, and then she seemed afraid that she might have to stitch. After waiting for an hour, she told me I needed to go to another facility. Probably the best advice I've ever had but too bad they didn't have someone on hand who was competent to do the job. I was furious, but I went to EXER in Newbury Park, where I've always had good experiences, and the doctor there gave me an anesthetic, put in four stitches and took care of the issue very competently. I just have to post this review because the staff at this Exer location in Thousand Oaks really is amazing! Veronica at the front desk was super helpful and professional. She also was the one to follow up with me the following day to tell me about my blood test results and to get me a password so that I could access them directly. I needed clearance for surgery and she went above and beyond to make sure that my doctor and I had all of the information needed to move forward with surgery. She also handled a busy waiting room and got us in quickly and efficiently. Moving on to the next phase, we met Juliana. She was the nurse who did my EKG and took my blood and vitals. She did it all and talked me through everything that she was doing. She even did the needle stick pain-free! My son and I just loved her! Erica was the PA that did all of the final tests to make sure that I was good to go into surgery and she was fabulous too! All in all, I have to say that the staff here did an amazing job and if you need emergency care, this is the place to go! I think that they all deserve a raise for their amazing teamwork and professionalism read more

I am very disappointed with the care I received last week. I came in with a concern regarding my foot. It had been hurting for eight days at that point. I have been having pain in specific parts of my foot, even when I am at rest. The doctor had no answers and said doing an X-ray wouldn't be necessary because I was able to move my foot. She just told me to continue to take pain medication, and to put heat on my foot. She was not helpful and did not seem to be very empathetic. I did not receive any paperwork after my visit either. It has now been over two weeks since my pain has started and there's no improvement. I will not be going back. read more

Then Maribel, an LVN came in and was so pleasant and told me exactly what she was going to do. The front receptionist was texting, handed me a covid box and told me "go to your car and do the test", she looked miserable and then the medical assistance took me back as if she was doing me a favor! In the changing age of medicine and the inability to get an appt with your own doctors .. I have moved to Urgent Care Thousand Oaks for almost everything short-term. Dr Smyle is outstanding. Dr Sylvester is excellent. The front office team is wonderful. I really like the place. Good medical care here. Excellent check in and quick to be seen. I have never waited more than 10 minutes to be seen. The two doctors I have seen + all the rest I assume .. are all top notch. I see in some of the reviews lower ratings but that is sooo not the case with me. And I found the office when I had to bring my son in a year ago and both of the doctors he saw on his visits, outstanding. Highly recommend Exer Urgent Care of Thousand Oaks. read more

Our experience here was horrible. The doctor was very rude, interrupted me, failed to explain what they were doing during an exam, and overall made both me and my partner feel very uncomfortable. Of the three nurses I encountered, two were polite, one was very rude and failed to answer any questions I asked. They moved my rooms multiple times because they didn't have what they needed in each room and lacked communication between each other as things were misplaced. I wouldn't trust this place again and would opt for a different UC. read more

I just showed up to receive treatment at this facility in Thousand Oaks and the staff member turned me away and said they were closing for lunch. I drove 50 minutes to get here. It's pretty ridiculous that they would have posted office hours online and then decide to turn people away for lunch. After waiting over an hour in a room, a nurse came to check the vitals and then came the doctor after another hour. How can these staff be so inconsiderate about patients time?
