While the doctor himself is nice, the staff leaves much to be desired. I visited the office seeking SDI paperwork, only to be told I'd have to pay $25 just to have a form filled out--something most primary care physicians do for free. Additionally, they were eager to prescribe medication without any proper diagnosis or proof of my condition. The overall attitude of the staff was unprofessional, and the office had an air of arrogance that was off-putting. I went to Dr. Cohen for the first time a few weeks ago. I didn't know what to expect! I have a lot of pain in my knees, hands, feet, back, shoulder, you name it! I've broken nearly every part of me! But Dr. Cohen listened and gave me a shot in my lower back which I have found after 2 epidurals nothing helped the pain....well, one shot did it!! I was amazed. Honestly the pain was gone! Then I asked him if he could give me a shot in my shoulder...he said yes, but lets wait a few days. So I came back, and he gave me cordisone shot in two places around my shoulder....amazing. I found Dr. Cohen online when I needed him the most! I had heard about him from a friend who was being treated for severe arthritis (young man) and he told me that he was the ONLY one that EVER helped his pain. I went to him for help with my hot flashes. For anyone who has not had their body set on fire with gasoline and a match, you may think this a minor inconvenience ~ trust me, it is not! Dr. Cohen matched my hormone imbalance perfectly through extensive bloodwork (which no other doctor did) and injected a transdermal pellet that has kept my body a heat and sweat free vessel for almost a year now! I have energy and I can go back in public without fear of turning bright red and sweaty! The office staff are kind and helpful but don't think you are going to push them around! They defend and protect Dr. Cohen fiercely (as they should). It is clear they love him and they won't let anyone make unreasonable demands on the good doctor! BEWARE OF THIS DR. This is a long review but I want to save someone else the heartache I went through. I was having knee pain and based on stellar reviews online chose to see Dr Cohen. He asked me some questions and proceeded to tell me that mine was a "Slam dunk diagnosis". He told me I had an auto immune disease that required me to take Humira and he could get me started on it "Right away". I trusted him and they gave me my first injection in office did some blood work took X-rays and said see you in 8 weeks. I was in shock that I had to inject myself with this medication every 2 weeks and bigger shock when I found out it cost $1300!!! Luckily I had really good insurance so they covered a lot of it. I was also put on a few other drugs and the combination made me feel like I was dying. I had no energy at all I could hardly get up and I felt the sickest I felt in my life with no improvement to my joint pain. THEN the bills started rolling in for my one visit to this Dr, I've never had to pay so much out of pocket with my insurance in my life. Thousands out of pocket for the numerous charges for one visit to this place. I called quite a few times requesting my test results because I was starting to doubt the Dr. Every time it was "We go over test results at your 8 week follow up". CONCLUSION: My 8 week follow up finally arrived I couldn't wait to get my test results. He proceeds to tell me that all blood work and X-rays came back NEGATIVE and nothing was wrong with me!!! He said stop all the medication and call if you need anything in the future. I WAS SHOCKED!!!What a scam this place was, they raked in tons of money from my one visit and put me through hell. Both my husband and I have seen Dr. Cohen for many years now. We've watched his practice grow from a small location by TOSH, to an ever-expanding one at this building on St. Charles. He is very thorough, kind, and considerate. His ultrasound specialist, Michael, fits right in. He's a very soothing person, and puts patients at ease. I saw Dr. "K" this week, and give her very high marks, as well. The reason for four stars versus five is that as the practice has grown, it's become harder to get in to see Dr. Cohen. What once took a few days now can take weeks, or even a month. The last time I tried to schedule, the representative on the phone started to give me attitude about my not accepting the times she was offering. I turned down one because it was right before the holiday weekend. As I'd previously had an adverse reaction, I didn't want to potentially get into a medical bind over the holiday when none of my regular doctors would have been available. I explained that to her, and she backed off, but didn't apologize. Then she offered an appointment with one of the P.A.'s. Nope; that was a non-starter as I'd had two poor experiences with that individual. I'd already stated that I wasn't comfortable with that provider. Gotta stand your ground sometimes!
