I would give a zero if I could. I recommend finding another local place - there are some great ones! Here's our problem with this one: According to their general manager, Kimberly, who was condescending and not very professional- they violated DHEC rules by piercing a 12 yr old girls cartilage 2 weeks ago. We asked to speak with the owner and was told "we don't give out that information". So in light of that, I guess we will need to flag this with DHEC instead to get someone to speak with us regarding a concern we now have about proper policies and procedures. When requesting service for a 13 yr old wanting her cartridge or 3rd lobe piercing, we were told that even with an ID and parental permission, one must be 14 yrs of age for either. We were informed that DHEC rules "change all the time" but that they were unaware of when that change happened.. but that this was the current regulation per DHEC. And that as a manager, it's not her job to know when the changes occur- she just gets told. (Again.. a 12 yr old just had it done 2 wks ago.. which is the only reason we were questioning when this supposed policy was in effect) . I would never recommend this place- especially in light of their unwillingness to be clear regarding the current policy and regulations for SC piercings - she just kept insisting that she would need to look into things from 2 weeks ago . Interestingly enough- a person at the other location we called was willing to let us come in with the same info for a piercing and when we asked about Age regulations for a 13 yr old, said it's not policy, it's at the discretion of the piercer. read more

Exotic Impression has a large variety of jewelry. It was spotless and, most importantly, smelled like disinfected. Kim Walker at the Park Circle (E. Montague) location is clearly going through something. She was so- and I repeat- so- disgusting and rude to me that she completely ruined my first time piercing experience. I was getting a nose piercing on my 40th birthday as a treat to myself, but she made it clear from the minute I walked in the door that she was upset and didn't want to serve me. She was rude to me about the paperwork being filled on the front and the back, which I let slide. But at piercing time she behaved as if she was irritable, moved fast and was robotic with minimal conversation. I politely asked her to adjust the piercing spot she had drawn on my nose which she did ever so slightly because she was said it wouldn't heal if she did it any closer to the bridges Once she was done I asked about aftercare for my piercing and she motioned to the paper on the table and rudely said "you need to use Saline twice a day". I asked for how long, and she glared at me cattily and said "for the rest of your life" and turned around. I don't know what kind of piercer speaks to customers in this way but I should have probably turned around after she muttered to her trainee after I walked in that "this is why I did not want to be signed up on a Sunday" since it got a little busy around closing (my appointment was the last one at 5:15pm). Someone may want to relieve her of her duties of working at this shop since it was evident by her behavior, tone and incredibly nasty attitude that she does not want to be there working at all. Kim Walker really should NOT be given the precious privilege of piercing anyone's body whatsoever, and I will always remember and hate that she was the person that was there to give me mine on my 40th birthday. read more

I went to exotic impressions in early august of this year, the location on Dorchester road. I got a surface tragus piercing and it was red and swollen in the beginning, I left it in for 48 hours. At the time I aaa in so much pain probably the worst pain of my life. I went to the Er because my ear or the tragus of my ear was Black I was diagnosed with MRSA I was put on I've antibiotics at the hospital, and transferred to oral antibiotics for about 2 months. I'm still recovering I missed a week of work because the whole left side of my face was swollen I looked like elephant man I was scared to walk outside let alone go into my salon job. I called the owner and they cited completely dumbfounded I ha e photos of the ear I would like to show them I haven't herd one sorry or how rd you nothing and I honestly want to get. Lawyer and sue. One last thing do not go to Dorchester road piercing location thy so not clean there instruments and someone will get hurt again. It's a serious thing people can die and can get permanently disfigured because if negligence so beware of them And I know it will happen to someone else because they have not changed one thing please I used to give myself piercings with a sewing needle and a ice cube for fun and never got one ioda of infection, just FYI. read more

I went here to get my naval pierced & honestly was a little nervous considering I haven't had the best experiences at other places in the past. Kate, the piercer, was so personable from the beginning as well as Ashley at the front desk. I have a history of fainting after piercings and they were so empathetic. I did my best not to faint, even though I did and I felt really bad that I did since it's embarrassing. Both Kate and Ashley made me feel 10x better, brought me lolly pops to bring my sugar up and a lemonade. they even set up extra chairs leading to the door in case I felt light headed again. I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere else or have anyone else working but these two ladies; they did an AMAZING job. plus, I love my new belly button piercing. a huge thank you to those two for helping me during such a nervous and vulnerable time read more

Okay.. so I've always been a HUGE baby when it comes to anything painful or needles (as are most people, I don't think anyone really loves needles) but the lady that pierced my nose was super chill and made sure to reassure me and keep me calm throughout the whole process. She was very quick, very clean, and very gentle. I didn't even flinch when she pushed the needle through my nose! The lady at the front desk too was super cool and told us everything we needed to know, whether it was aftercare or just about the jewelry. They are all very nice and the place is super clean. Definitely would recommend everyone to come here whether you are experienced with getting piercings or if you're just getting your first piercing. This place is awesome!! read more

There is a piercer here who seriously needs her license taken from her. My sister and her friend went in at different times to get pierced by the same girl. My sister got her naval done and not even a week later it became infected, my sister is experienced with piercing aftercare and never has had an infection once. My sister then went back to the piercer to figure out what's wrong, she said it was my sisters fault and that it was migrated from trauma. Which was a lie, it looked disgusting. Then about two weeks later our friend went to get a dermal replaced by the same lady, mind you she has had dermals for 8 years and counting and within two days after having it replaced, it was pussed and revolting. When she called the shop a fellow employee said that this girl was known to use dirty hemostats and clamps as well as being the relative of the owner. My friend then called the owner and has still had no response, needless to say, she is going to the health department with a claim against her with proper doctors documentation. I don't care if it's rude to call someone out but the piercer's name is Amanda. Being dirty is risking people's lives with blood infections and illnesses. Absolutely disgusting read more

Went to take my daughter, her best friend,and myself for our piercing the young black receptionist she had her hair in one big puff was very rude and unpleasant. When we came in we told her what we were getting so she stated that daughter best friend didn't have an appointment which we booked for 540 after going back and fourth with us she final said don't worry about it then she asked for ID's we gave them to her she kept staring at them so I asked if theres a problem so she rolled her eyes and said just we can't do this I said do what? she stated again THIS so I said what are you talking about? she goes on to say none of the information on here matches. So I said what are you taking about as in Explain! she rolls again. Once I figured out what she was talking about I said well me and my daughter still getting ours she pulled out one paper I statef I need one as well she ignored me so I said it again that's when Ashley who is awesome by the way!!!! came and I repeated myself and mention I had an appointment for 545 the receptionist said no you don't have one i stated I do she told me I didn't so I said I do and pulled out the appointment on my phone and then said would you like to have Ashley assist us since your not feeling well she rolled her eyes and walked away. The experience and vibes after she left the room went back to good. Ashley was cool calm and collective made us feel welcomed and explained the policy to us.. I will be returning only because of Ashley and how personal she was. read more

I stopped by Exotic Impressions today because I needed a replacement earring for one that had fallen out. I got pierced here YEARS ago and it was great to see that nothing had changed! The management is the same and as friendly as ever. They even remembered me. My ear piercing is a little difficult to reach so he put on gloves, sterilized my new jewelry and put it in my ear for me! I told him I was nervous and talked me through the process and helped with aftercare and how to generally keep up with the piercing. I loved the piercer!
