Get ready to be adventurous! It's is small, this is true. But when you just want to experience a snack or drink other than the what you find in every grocery store in America, this is your destination. I grabbed Chinese versions of strawberry Oreos, apple soda from Mexico, Indian snacks and much more. I had to ask about whether they carried TimTams and they did not. The good news is, she looked. The service overall is good. Regarding the ambiance, this is the only downfall... the colorful LED lights and graffiti style signs make it visually interesting, but with people wanting to read the ingredients of snacks, you can feel a bit rushed to move along. With the skinny isles, this is the only issue I see with this place on a Saturday.

Exotic Snacks opened a few weeks ago and I was curious what it was all about. On a Saturday afternoon the small store was very crowded. We were immediately greeted by the owner and he shared with us how the snacks were organized and all the countries they represented. There were items from so many countries and so many unusual items. Their prices are so reasonable. We asked him how he came up with this concept and he explained is small children often wanted treats when in a convenience store and the items had so many ingredients. He said snacks from other countries often do not have as many artificial ingredients. This is definitely a family business , his wife and children were in the store with him. They are open until midnight, for those late night munchies. I wish him much success.

This is a fun little shop that has snacks from around the world. I wouldn't call them "exotic" exactly -- mostly chips in different flavors -- and many of these you might find in an Asian grocery. When I visited, the store looked in need of a restock -- the shelves were not full and some of the chip bags looked very crumpled (I suppose due to the novelty that merchandise is handled a lot). Nevertheless it is fun to peruse the shelves of this small shop -- Kit Kat cereal, matcha-strawberry (?) Oreos, fire-flavored (fuego) Takis... to pick up snacks for friends. I would like to see a greater variety of beverages and some truly eye-popping stuff. Still, this store has to make money so I assume these snacks have to be palatable. I did purchase the matcha Oreos and some coffee. I was really tempted to buy the Frosted Flake cereal milk to continue the gag in our office fridge but I really wanted it to be in a can.

Small shop but lots of items. No telling what they will have when you visit. Everything I saw was about $7 each. Pretty cool spot but call first if you're looking for something specific.

Parking lots was tight and the store was pretty small.

Cool place they had lots of interesting snacks. The service was excellent, the young lady at the register brought me a basket to load up on the snacks. My kids were so excited to see all the amazing sweets and chips. Getting to the store was tricky, the parking lot was small and tight. The store was small as well but they have a good selection of items. Everything was 50% off when we went.

Finally got to try this place. They definitely have a bunch of different snacks from different places. Very small store so it can get crowded pretty quick. Lady at the counter was very friendly and nice. Best thing is if there is something you want but they don't carry it, you can let them know and they will try to find it. Love that. I do agree with some of the other reviewers thought that some of the snacks can be found in other stores here.

    Big snack haul!

Wide variety of snacks from all over the world! Reasonable prices, they have some cute anime keychains! Super happy to find one of my favorite candy bar from UK! Owners are very sweet and generous! 10/10 will come again!

Went there last week and the store was closed and empty. Is this store permanetly closed?

Google does not say they are permanently closed and the website is up. Maybe remodeling but you would think there would be a sign. Did you try calling?

Do they accept tap to pay (Google pay)?

Wow. I found myself…read morein Arlington Heights, and my buddy suggested this place due to an upcoming trip to Japan in 2027. It's a Japanese market that features an amazing food court (and this is where I spent all my time.) I don't recall the name of the stall I purchased from. But I can tell you it was quick, not expensive and very filling. I had a bowl with beef and noodles; for dessert I hit the matcha dessert stall for some matcha and vanilla ice cream. The whole place meal me feel like I was dining outside the state of Illinois. The service from everyone in the market was very friendly and they even had a sake/soju tasting by the front door (and the vendors allowed you try was much as you wanted.) I highly recommend this spot

Not only is there a food court of different Japanese restaurants to try, there is also a grocery store, bakery, bookstore, and stores that sell ice cream, traditional desserts, as well as crepes and boba tea! My family and I visit here often every year and we like to try the different foods and desserts and then check out the bookstore and grocery store afterwards. My favorite foods so far have been the beef udon soup with a soft boiled egg, shrimp and vegetable tempura, miso soup, and Japanese curry with rice, beef, and vegetables (carrots and potatoes). My son always gets the chicken and beef on a stick and my daughter usually gets a garlic pork dish with white rice but I forget what this dish is called. My husband also enjoys the beef udon soup like I do. I swear that whenever my food is finished, I am legit sad! The crepes are good, there is a variety of boba teas to try, and the ice creams are delicious! Lychee has been my favorite so far but I have yet to try the matcha, red bean, among others! You can get a small sample of different ice cream flavors too, which is nice! I sampled the red bean flavor so that will be my go-to next time! At the grocery store, I love buying Happy Turn snacks which are like a sweet and salty crunchy cracker (maybe it is made of rice?) that are individually wrapped and mochi from the fridge area. Finally, I usually like to buy mochi from the store right next to the bookstore. The mochi from this location is the best! I usually buy multiple flavors to take home and eat at a later time! You must try these! My kids love checking out the bookstore and they usually pick something out for me to buy for them - whether it is a book, keychain, etc. There are magazines, anime figurines, soft plushy toys, pens, and stationary, etc. It is interesting to browse through the things they have there! You cannot bring food or drinks inside but they do have a shelf at the entrance where you can place your drink there if you like. The first time visiting here, the majority of the customers were Asians and as the years have passed, there is now more of an influx of non-Asians who simply love the food and appreciate the culture, which I think is neat! The first time I visited here was with my college roommate who was from Japan and she recommended this place back in 2009 perhaps? I have been visiting ever since with my family. We travel more than an hour from Wisconsin to come here but it is 100% worth the drive! Also, the cashiers and workers there are quick, efficient, and friendly. I have even been able to practice a few of the Japanese phrases I have learned with a couple of the cashiers too (I asked if they spoke Japanese first)! Overall, Mitsuwa is my happy place! Great food, interesting finds, different culture, and everyone there looks excited to be there. This is as close to visiting Japan as I can get until I keep learning more Japanese and save up enough money to go visit Japan someday! This is my dream! In the meantime, we will keep visiting Mitsuwa!

We ran out of rice at home; a staple for this Filipina! I was pleased with the quality of food here, variety, and helpful store employees, that I plan to return again soon, even if it is a little farther for us to travel. Let's just say, I am avoiding the parking lot mess and longer lines at nearby H-Mart or Jong Boo in Schaumburg. I appreciate that my favorite brown sushi rice cones in a 5 or 15 pound bag. And there is a good variety of sauces and seasonings to make my favorite dishes at home. The food court here is a definite must and the salmon sushi roll with soy paper we had was so fresh, the salmon was "like butter." The ingredients, with a little bit of spice inside, went well with the fruit kissed brews at nearby Mikerphone Brewing. They let you b.y.o. food at the brewery, so Tensuke makes a convenient stop. The sweet lady at the register complimented my choice of the Hello Kitty Soy Sauce bottle. (So I am a sucker for cute condiments!) I look forward to trying some hot food items here, next visit.

If you're looking for quick eats while doing some Asian grocery shopping, it's definitely worth checking out. One thing I really like is that finding a table isn't difficult. They have a separate dining hall with plenty of long tables and seating, plus a free-refill miso soup station and a water station for convenience. Pricing here is noticeably lower compared to Hmart. The udon noodle soup is a family favorite, especially for our kids and moms. At Hmart, a bowl of this would run about $15-16 but here for $12.50, you get a generous bowl plus a side like two egg rolls or gyoza, and a small miso soup bowl with seaweed and tofu (you can refill the miso soup at the station). If you skip the side, you save about $1. The Godzilla roll is also a great deal--eight large pieces for about $14. My oldest loved it and was completely full from the sushi. They also offer poke bowls and chicken teriyaki rice plates, which my husband ordered during our visit. My only gripe is that many of the dishes tend to be on the salty side--they could definitely tone that down. Our udon broth tasted good, but we ended up adding some water to dilute it. They also offer discounted cooked hot and cold items--sometimes 30% to 50% off--after the dinner rush (probably after 7 PM). I picked up a large container kimchi pork soup to go for under $5 but it was also quite salty so I took most of it home, added more water and it was perfect as leftovers next day. Ordering is simple: you select your items and pay at a kiosk, enter your buzzer number, and it will vibrate when your food is ready for pickup at the counter. Eating inside a grocery store has its perks--you can grab extra snacks or drinks to customize your meal, and then browse the store afterward. Our moms and kids always enjoy coming here with us--it's definitely more fun for them than a typical grocery run. Overall, prices are reasonable and they run good deals. It's smaller than H Mart, so there are fewer options, but if you prefer a less crowded and more relaxed environment, you might actually like Tensuke better.

I want to give a shout out to Andrea and Chris (I wish I had last names!)…read more You know what it's like when life gets so stressful that you are struggling to find a reason to make it through the day, and then you discover a sweet treat in the international candy aisle of your local Tony's that is like nothing else you've ever eaten, and it becomes your nightly reward for making it through another day? No? Just me? Well, then humor me. I found that treat (and I'm not identifying it because I don't want my store to run out!!) and I stopped in my Tony's Monday morning to get my week's worth, and despite the fact that I hadn't seen the supply dwindle at all in the months I've been eating these treats (so I just assumed I was the only one who bought them,) AND they had literally boxes full of product every time I came to Tony's, my heart SUNK when I saw the empty shelf. Sometimes when life rains, it pours, and life has been pouring on me, and seeing that one of the few things I had to look forward to was gone, broke the camel's back. I headed toward customer service, and saw a woman standing in front of customer service (she may have been supervising the self checkout) and I approached her on the verge of tears and explained that they were out of the only thing that brought me joy, and she said "well then, we will find it." That was Angela. Thank you, Angela!!! Truly, an angel! I was expecting judgment, not kindness. I was hoping they had just moved the candy to a different display or something but Angela looked into it and they were completely out (and when I'd been in less than a week earlier, there was still a LOT of product that was about a year away from expiration, so I guess I'm NOT the only one who finds this item irresistible!) So Angela recruited a very kind gentleman named Chris who got my information, placed an order with the vendor, and barely 24 hours later I got a text from Chris that the product was at the store waiting for me. My experience with "customer service" on a whole lately has been that no one seems to care anymore. Or that people do the absolute minimum that they can get away with. I cannot remember the last time I had a company truly care if I was happy with my shopping experience. Angela could have just told me to "go look for the product at other Tony's stores" or online ... but instead she made sure the item would be available at my preferred store. Chris could have just told me "they'll be in some time next week, come in and look" .... but instead, he texted me to let me know when they arrived, and because I couldn't make it into the store that day, he made sure to set side the quantity I need. Again, these are all such small things in the grand scheme of life, but Joy and kindness are so important and so hard to come by these days. Because of the kindness of Andrea and Chris, I'm able to find little bits of joy at the end of the day, as I work my way through this difficult chapter in my life.
